2011 Ninja 650RL ABS

The Ninja 650RL ABS continues to offer a package that is both fun and easy to ride with sensational Ninja Supersport styling. The most apparent feature is the Ninja 650RL ABS’s decidedly sporty appearance. Sharp, flowing styling gives the bike the look of a modern supersport machine.

The 649 cm³, liquid cooled Parallel Twin is extremely user-friendly. The easy-to-control engine is responsive and smooth, especially at low-mid rpm.

Sportier, even easier to handle, safer thanks to the addition of ABS and wrapped in seductive Ninja supersport styling, the Ninja 650RL ABS enables riders to experience the fundamental joy of motorcycling.

649 cm³ Twin Cylinder DOHC Engine

The Ninja 650RL engine is tuned to provide a smooth delivery of torque which is ideally suited for learners and less experienced riders.

Parallel twin engine is the most compact in its category and helps reduce the dimensions of the entire motorcycle to keep it small and nimble.

Tuned to deliver smooth, responsive power in the

lowto mid-rpm range with a smooth roll-on response for negotiating city traffic.

Triangular crank and transmission shaft layout makes the engine very short from front to back, a semi-dry sump oil system reduces overall engine height, while the narrow pitch of the chrome composite plated aluminium cylinders helps reduce engine width.

Muffler with 3-way catalyser and bullet-tip opening is mounted below the engine to help lower the centre of gravity and aid weight centralisation.

180-degree crankshaft plus balancer shaft for extremely smooth engine operation.

Oil jets in the connecting rod big ends spray oil on the undersides of the pistons to aid cooling.

Liquid Cooling

Wide radiator maximizes cooling capacity to help maintain consistent engine temperatures for long engine life and sustained power during hard use.

Allows closer engine tolerances for more horsepower.

Coolant is routed through the engine cases to reduce external hoses.

Includes a temperature gauge.

Digital Ignition

Digital timing advance enhances power.

Spark plug mounted “stick” ignition coils are compact and help reduce weight.

Digital Fuel Injection

38mm Keihin throttle bodies feature sub-throttle valves for optimum performance and rideability.

The sub throttles, located behind the main throttle valves, are controlled by the ECU so that the EFI system has more precise throttle response, similar to a constant-velocity carburettor.

Precise fuel injection plus exhaust catalyser significantly reduce emissions.

Automatic fast idle system makes starting and

warm-up easy.

6-Speed Transmission

Cassette-style transmission puts the transmission shafts and shift drum into a compact layout that is easily removed as a single unit from the cases for easier maintenance.

Kawasaki Positive Neutral Finder just lift the gear lever from first when stopped and automatically select neutral.

Trellis Frame

High tensile steel trellis frame is small and light.

Designed using 3-dimensional computer analysis to achieve the optimum stiffness balance for better handling.

Narrow at the knees and feet for rider comfort and control.

Single-shock Rear Suspension

D-shaped swingarm and offset, lay down single rear shock complement the frame design to create an integrated line flowing from the steering head to the rear hub.

Short, compact frame and engine design allows the swingarm to be longer, which helps improve overall handling.

Triple Petal Design Brake Discs

Front brake callipers have big 27mm pistons for excellent brake feel.

Petal design offers improved cooling and warp resistance.

Same petal design found on the Ninja ZX-6R and ZX–10R supersports machines.

Front brake lever uses a ball-joint and revised pivot location to deliver a smooth actuation of the master cylinder piston.

ABS function helps prevent wheel locking when braking hard in a straight line.
