Thetachometershowstheengine speedinrevolutionsperminute(r/min, rpm).Ontherightsideofthetachome­terfaceisaportioncalledthe"red zone".Enginer/min(rpm)inthe redzoneisabovemaximumrecom­mendedenginespeedandisalso abovetherangeforgoodperformance.
Whenignitionkeyisturnedto ON!, thespeedometerandtachometernee­dlesmomentarilypointtotheirlast
readingstochecktheiroperation.Ifthe speedometerandtachometerneedles donotoperatecorrectly,havethem inspectedbyanauthorizedKawasaki dealer.
Enginer/min(rpm)shouldnot beallowedtoentertheredzone; operationintheredzonewill overstresstheengineandmay causeseriousenginedamage.
