Thank you for buying the Kaiser MultiTrig AS 5.1 radio
trigger.
The MultiTrig AS 5.1 can be used as a camera remote release and as a flash trigger. The function mode
is automatically detected by the trigger and switched
accordingly (AS = Auto-Sensing).
The remote shutter release function works with many
Canon, Fuji, Nikon, Pentax, Samsung and Sigma cameras. Additional release cords are available for many
Minolta, Olympus and Sony cameras.
Four standard A AA batteries are required to operate
the MultiTrig AS 5.1. They are not included in the box.
Additional receivers are available separately in case
you want to trigger more than one flash or release
more than one camera.
Please read these instructions carefully prior to operating your MultiTrig AS 5.1 to make yourself familiar
with its functions.

1. Safety precautions
Please observe the following safety precautions as
they are meant for the safe and proper use of the
product to reduce the r isk of accidents. Upon reading the user manual, keep it in a safe and available
place.
Do not use any batteries or accessories that are not
specified in this document.
When inserting the batteries, pay attention to the correct polarity. These devices have a protective circuit
to safeguard the electronic circuitry against damages
from wrongly placed batteries. Please take into consideration, that wrongly placed batteries can also be
damaged or destroyed themselves.
Make sure that camera and flash are switched off
before you connect or disconnect them with or from
transmitter and receiver.
Do not place cords near a heat-generating object. It
may deform the cord or cause a fire or electric shock
by melting the insulated parts.
Do not keep the equipment in a place where dirt and
moist accumulate easily. It may cause malfunction or
damage on the product.
Before using the product in sensitive environments
(e.g. on an airplane or in a hospital), you must check
whether such usage is allowed. Electronic waves produced from the product may cause malfunctioning of
devices.
Place the product out of the reach of children. Damaged product may result in injury.
Do not hold the product alone when the product is installed on the camera. Due to the weight of the camera,
it may damage the connected part between the product and the camera or the product.
Do not clean the device with paint thinner, benzene or
other volatile solution. It may cause a fire or harm the
human body.
Switch off the devices and take out the batteries, if you
do not use them for a longer period of time.
Do not disassemble or rebuild the product. Repairs
may only be carried out by qualified personnel.

Switch off transmitter or receiver before inserting the
batteries. Open the battery compartment cover (7 or
18) and insert two AAA batteries. Pay attention to polarity. Close the battery compartment.
5. Selecting the channel (fig. C)
Transmitter and receiver must be set on the same
channel for accurate communication. Press the channel selector (10 or 23) repeatedly and the channel indicators (4 or 15) will light up in the order shown in fig. C.
Seven channels can be selected. Channel indicators
go out automatically after four seconds.

6. Camera remote control operation
Wireless remote control (fig. D)
Mount the MultiTrig AS 5.1R receiver to the hot shoe
of your camera and lock it by rotating the knurled ring
(22). Choose the appropriate release cord (25) and
connect the camera remote socket (16) of the receiver with the remote socket on your camera. If the hot
shoe of your camera is already occupied by another
device, you may use an accessory bracket to mount
the receiver. Switch on the receiver and then switch
on your camera.
Switch on the MultiTrig AS 5.1T transmitter and press
the release button (2) halfway. The status indicators
(1 and 12) of transmitter and receiver light up green
and the camera‘s autofocus and exposure metering
are activated.
Press the release button (2) fully. The status indicators
(1 and 12) of transmitter and receiver light up red, the
camera shutter is released.
Available operating modes are single shot, multi shot
and long exposure (bulb). Remember to set your camera to the corresponding mode.
For a single shot press the release button (2) once to
shoot.
For multiple shots press the release button (2) and
hold it until the desired number of shots are done.
For long exposures press the release button (2) for
more than three seconds. The shutter opens and you
can let go of the release button. To shut down the
shutter and to end the exposure, press the release
button again.
Please note:
rig AS 5.1R receiver, it will not be fired at the same time.
For synchronous firing a speedlight, you must connect
camera and speedlight with a suitable sync cord.
Wired remote control (fig. E)
Connect the MultiTrig AS 5.1T transmitter to your ca-
mera. Choose the appropriate release cord (25) and
connect the camera remote socket (5) of the transmitter with the remote socket on your camera.
Everything else works the same way as described
above for wireless operation. You can also use single
shot, multi shot and long exposure modes.
7. Flash trigger operation
Wireless triggering
MultiTrig AS 5.1 can be used for speedlights (fig. F)
and for studio flashes (fig. G).
If a speedlight is mounted on the MultiT-
Mount the MultiTrig AS 5.1T transmitter on the hot
shoe of your camera and lock it by rotating the knurled
ring (9).
Slide an external speedlight onto the hot shoe (14)
of the MultiTrig AS 5.1R receiver. You may attach the
receiver on a tripod using the 1/4“ connecting thread
(21). Switch on the receiver and the speedlight. Press
the test button (13) to trigger the flash.
To connect the MultiTrig AS 5.1R receiver with a studio flash, you must use the sync cord (26) with 2.5 mm and
3.5 mm jack plugs. Insert the 2.5 mm jack into the flash
socket (17) of the receiver and the 3.5 mm jack into the
sync port of your studio flash. If the studio flash has a
6.35 mm sync port, use the adapter (27) included in
the box. Switch on the receiver and the studio flash.
Press the test button (13) to trigger the flash.
Switch on the MultiTrig AS 5.1T transmitter. Press the
release button of your camera. The status indicators (1
and 12) of transmitter and receiver will light up red and
the flash will be triggered.
Remar ks:
MultiTrig AS 5.1 has a wake-up feature that will work
with most of the Canon and Nikon speedlights. If the
flash is in sleep mode, half pressing the camera release will wake it up, ready to fire it at the full press.

With other speedlights you have to end the sleep
mode manually.
If you are using MultiTrig AS 5.1 with cameras and/
or speedlights other than Canon or Nikon, it might
be necessary to synchronize MultiTrig AS 5.1 prior
to shooting. To achieve this, press the transmitter release button (2) before you take the picture. Or press
the camera release button instead. The next time you
press the camera release button the speedlight is triggered synchronously. If there are no shots within the
next 30 seconds, it might be necessary to repeat the
synchronization procedure as described above.
TTL Pass-Through (only with Canon and Nikon
speedlights) and external speedlights (fig. H and I)
A Canon or Nikon TTL speedlight mounted on top
of the MultiTrig AS 5.1T transmitter (mounted on the
camera hot shoe) can be used in full T TL. For other
flashguns there is a centre contact for synchronous
firing without TTL.
The MultiTrig AS 5.1R receiver is designed for manual
flash operation. Therefore the flash output has to be
set at the flash. Transmission of TTL control signals
from transmitter to receiver is not possible.
