device. If replacement of the plug is required, be sure the service technician has used a replacement
plug specified by the manufacturer that has the same overload protection as the original plug.
14. Cleaning - The appliance should be cleaned only as recommended by the manufacturer.
15. Power Lines - An outdoor antenna should be located away from power lines.
16. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If an outside antenna is connected to the receiver, be sure the antenna
system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built up static
charges. Section 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/ NFPA No.70-1984, provides information
with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to
an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit,
connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. See figure 1.
17. Nonuse Periods - The power cord of the appliance should be unplugged from the outlet when left
unused for a long period of time.
18. Object and Liquid Entry - Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled
into the enclosure through openings.
19. Damage Requiring Service - The appliance should be serviced by qualified service personnel when:
A. The power supply cord or the plug has been damaged; or
B. Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the appliance; or
C. The appliance has been exposed to rain; or
D. The appliance does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance;
or
E. The appliance has been dropped, or the enclosure damaged.
20. Servicing - The user should not attempt to service the appliance beyond that described in the
operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel.

Follow the advice below for safe operations.
ON PROTECTION AGAINST LASER ENERGY EXPOSURE
• As the laser beam used in this compact disc player is harmful to the eyes, do not attempt to
disassemble the casing.
• Stop operation immediately if any liquid or solid object should fall into the cabinet.
• Do not touch the lens or poke at it. If you do, you may damage the lens and the player may not operate
properly.
• Do not put anything in the safety slot. If you do, the laser diode will be ON when the CD door is still
open.
• If the unit is not to be used for a long period of time, make sure that all power sources are disconnected
from the unit. Remove all batteries from the battery compartment, and unplug the AC cord from the wall
outlet. Make it a practice to remove the AC cord by grasping the main body and not by pulling the cord.
• This unit employs a laser. The use of controls or adjustment or performance of procedures other than
those specified here may result in exposure to hazardous radiation.
ON PLACEMENT
• Do not use the unit in places which are extremely hot
• Place the unit on a flat and even surface.
• Do not restrict the air-flow of the unit by placing it in a place with poor ventilation, by covering it with a
cloth or by placing it on a carpet.
ON CONDENSATION
• When left in a heated room where it is warm and damp, water droplets or condensation ma y form inside
the unit.
• When there is condensation inside the unit, the unit may not function normally.
• Let it stands for 1 to 2 hours before turning the power on, or gradually heat the room up and dry the unit
before use.
Should any trouble occurs, remove the power source and refer servicing to qualified personnel.

POWER SOURCE
This CD Player operates on 6 ‘C’ (UM-2) size batteries (not included) or from AC 120V~ 60Hz line power.
A. DC POWER OPERATION
1. Open the Battery Compartment Door (#13).
2. Insert 6 “C” (UM-2) size batteries, according to the polarity diagram, in the battery compartment.
3. Close the Battery Compartment Door.
IMPORTANT
Note:
i. For best performance and longer operating time, we recommend the use of alkaline-type batteries.
ii. Do not mix old and new batteries.
iii. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
iv. If the unit is not going to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries. Old or leaking
batteries can cause damage to the unit and may void the warranty.
v. Do not dispose of batteries in fi re, batt eries m ay explode or leak.
B. AC OPERATION
Connect t h e i n c l u d ed A C po w e r co r d to t h e A C IN P U T S O CK E T ( # 1 2) o n th e b a c k o f th e u n i t and the oth e r
end of the cord into an AC 120V~ 60 Hz wall outlet.
Note: The batteries will automatically disconnect and the unit will operate on AC power whenever the AC
power cord is plugged into the AC MAIN (#14) input on the back of the unit.
: Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage the unit.
CD PLAYER OPERATION
Note: This CD Player not only plays commercial discs, but also self compiled CD-R and CD Rewritables.
Do not attempt to play CD-ROM, CDI, VCD, DVD or other computer program/game CD’s.
PLAYING A DISC
1. Set the Function Switch (# 15) to the "CD" position. The Display (# 6) will show “no“ if a CD is not
inserted.
2. Open the CD Door (# 5) by lifting the door at the edge marked OPEN. Place an audio CD with label
side up in the CD compartment and gently push down on the CD Door to close.
3. After a few seconds, the total number of tracks on the CD will appear in the Display (# 6).
4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE Button (# 9) and
5. Adjust the Volume Control (# 16) to obtain the desired sound level from the Speakers.
6. To susp end playing, pres s the PLAY/ PAUSE Button (# 8). The track number shown i n the Display (# 6)
will flash. Press the PLAY/PAUSE Button (# 8) again to resume playing.
7. You can choose to play your favorite track directly by pressing the Skip/Search Button (# 7) to skip
forward or the Skip Back Button (# 4) to skip backward. The Display (# 6) will indicate the track
number selected.
8. To search fast forward or backward, press and hold the Skip/Search Button (# 7) or the Skip Back
Button (# 4) to scan through the track.
9. To repeat a particular playing track, press the REPEAT Button (# 3) once. REPEAT will appear in the
Display top left corner.
10. To repeat the entire pla ying CD,
Display top left corner. Press REPEAT Button (# 3) again to cancel the REPEAT function

PROGRAMMED PLAY
This function allows the tracks to be played in a programmed sequence. You may store up to
20 tracks in
the desired sequence. You can store any track more than once.
1. With the CD in stop mode, press the PROGRAM Button (# 2) once. The Display (# 6) will show “01” with
PROG flashing in the top right corner of the Display.
2. Press the Skip/Search Button (# 7) or Skip Back Button (# 4) to select the song to be programmed.
3. Press the PROGRAM Button (# 2) again to store selection. The program numb er shown in the Displa y
(# 6) will advance to “02” and PROG will flash to prompt for input of the next track.
4. Press the Skip/Search Button (# 7) or Skip Back Button (# 4) to select the next song to be
programmed
and press the PROGRAM Button (# 2) to store selection.
5. To check the programmed tracks, press the PROGRAM. Button (# 2) repeatedly to view all the
programmed songs. The Display (# 6) will show the program numbe r first followed by the flashing track
number.
6. Repeat steps #2 - #4
to program up to
20 tracks. If you attempt to program mo re than 20 tracks, the
Display (# 6) will revert back to entry “01” and you will begin overwriting the first tracks programmed.
Note: If you want to exit the program mode during programming, simply press the STOP Button (# 8)
once. The Player will then return to normal play mode.
7. Press the PLAY/PAUSE Button (# 9) to begin programmed play. The firs t track in program will appear
in the Display (# 6) and the PROGGRAM Indicator, PROG, will light steadily in the top right corner of the
Display.
8. You may repeat the current programmed track or all the programmed tracks by pressing the REPEAT
BUTTON (# 3) once or twice.
9. To stop programmed play, press the STOP Button (# 8).
10. As long as the unit remains on and the CD Door (# 5) is not o pened, you can resu me progra mmed play
at any time by pressing the PROGGRAM Button (#5) and then the PLAY Button (# 8).
11. To turn the unit off, set the Function Switch (# 15) to the "OFF" position.
Notes on CD-R/RW Discs
• Because of non-standardized format definition/production of CD-R/RW, playback quality &
performance are not guaranteed.
• Manufacturer is not responsible for the playability of CD-R/RW due to recording conditions such as PC
performance, writing software, media ability, etc.
• Do not attach a label or seal to either side of the CD-R/RW disc. It may cause a malfunction.
RADIO RECEPTION
1. Set the Function Switch (# 15) to either “AM” or “FM”.
2. Turn the Tuning Control (# 14) to obtain the desired radio station.
3. Rotate the Volume Control (# 16) to obtain the desired sound level.
4. Turn the Radio off by setting the Function Switch (# 15) to the “OFF” position.
TIPS FOR BEST RADIO RECEPTION
1. To insure the best FM tuner reception, fully extend th e Telescopic Antenna (# 11) and rotate it for the
best possible station reception.
2. The unit is provided with a built-in ferrite antenna. Try repositioning the unit until the best station
reception is obtained.

communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. The lens of the CD Player should never be touched.
2. Clean your unit with a damp (never wet) cloth. Solvent or detergent should never be used.
3. Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places.
4. Keep your unit away fro m heating appliances an d sources of electric al noise such as fluorescent l amps
or motors.
5. If drop-outs or interruptions occur in the music du ring CD play, or if the CD fails
to play at all, its bottom surface may require cleaning.
Before playing, wipe the disc from the center outwards with a good soft
cleaning cloth.

TROUBLESHOOTING
If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the set for repair.
Do not open the set as there is a risk of electric shock.
If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or service center.

as this will invalidate the warranty.
