
Insert the IomegaWare™ software CD and install the
software.
The software will work with all Iomega FireWire® and USB drives.
Macintosh
®
users—Double-click on the IomegaWare installer™ icon.
PC users—If the CD does not start automatically, double-click on the CD
icon in My Computer, then double-click on the Setup.exe icon. To access
the User’s Manual, see step 6 in this booklet.

Connect the FireWire® Accessory to the Zip® 250™ drive.
NOTE: The FireWire™ Accessory locks onto the Zip® 250™ connector. Always
connect the Zip 250 FireWire Accessory before connecting the FireWire
cable.
To remove the FireWire™ Accessory, disconnect the FireWire™ cable first,
then pull firmly.

Restart the system. Plug the FireWire® cable into the computer.
A “1394” logo* will identify the connector on your computer. The drive
can be connected or disconnected to the computer while the computer is on.
CAUTION! If you are connecting multiple FireWire® devices view the User’s
Manual HTML (see step 6 in this booklet) for important power information
to prevent potential system or device damage.

Connect the FireWire® cable to the Accessory (as shown).
If the light on the top of the FireWire® Accessory* does not come on,
connect the Zip
®
250™ power supply.
IMPORTANT! Windows® 98 SE users: If you see the dialog box “Please
insert the disk labeled Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM.” Insert the
CD that came with the FireWire® Accessory instead. Click OK.
This message will only appear the first time you connect the Accessory.

The green power light* will flash momentarily and you will
hear the drive power up.
If the Zip® 250® drive does not power up, you may need to connect the Zip
250
drive power supply.
IMPORTANT: Insert a disk only after you are sure the drive has power.
Remove the Zip® disk from the drive before disconnecting it from the
computer.

Macintosh® users—Double-click the IomegaWare® folder, then click on the
FireWire Accessory User’s Manual folder icon.
PC users—Double-click on the IomegaWare
®
icon on your desktop, then
the Get Help tab, then double click the FireWire Accessory User’s Manual
folder.
To view the User’s Manual, you must have Microsoft
®
Internet Explorer® 3.0
or higher or Netscape Navigator
®
4.5 or higher installed on your system.
Refer to the User’s Manual HTML for other types of connections,
connecting to a FireWire
®
chain, and connecting to a notebook computer.
