Moisture Detector
5500 Series
www.GE-Interlogix.com
The 5500 Series moisture detector is designed to respond to the
presence of water and other nonflammable conductive liquids.
The sensor units can be surface-mounted or floor-mounted
beneath carpet for detection of increased moisture levels in
basements and bathrooms, and leakage in air conditioning and
sprinkler systems. The moisture detectors work with the 5501
Moisture Processor. Simply push the processor’s test switch to
simulate the presence of water and verify proper operation.
The processor accommodates up to four detectors and comes
with two internal lithium batteries for long-life.
The 5501 moisture processor may be used with any closed loop
control, dialer, or wireless transmitter input circuit. The output is
a solid state switch that is normally at 10 Ω, then increases to
1 M Ω when triggered.
The 5501 processor comes with internal lithium batteries that
have an anticipated life of 10 to 15 years. A test switch is
provided that simulates the presence of water and will, when
pressed for a period of 15 seconds, activate the processor output
to the normal closed state. The processor offers flexability in
mounting with no need for an external power source and
minimal wiring required.
Sensors include the Model 5515 surface mount unit and
Model 5505 under-carpet sensor. Any combination of up to four (4)
sensors may be used with the Model 5501 moisture processor.
