Quidway® ME60-16 Main Process Unit(MPUA)
Overview
The MPUA is the Main Process Unit (MPU) of ME60-16, implementing such global functions as route
processing, service processing, resource management, state monitoring and network management
agent.
The ME60-16 has 22 slots in total: two main control slots, four switch fabric board slots and sixteen
service line card slots. Each ME60-16 needs to be configured with one or two MPUs. Two MPUs are
recommended. It can realize redundant backup of main control board and improves the system
reliability.
The appearance of MPUA is illustrated in the following.
Specifications
On the MPUA of ME60-16 five external interfaces are provided: CONSOLE port (communication
serial port), AUX port (auxiliary communication serial port), 10/100/1000BASE-TX Ethernet port, CF
card interface and system clock input/output interface.

Interface Description
CONSOLE port (RJ45)
It is a communication serial port, using RS-232 level.
This Console port is used to connect the background
terminal for debugging, configuring, maintaining,
managing the system and loading the host software
program.
MPUA
AUX port (RJ45)
It is an auxiliary communication serial port, using
RS-232 level. The AUX port is used to connect the
MODEM device. It implements remote configuration,
maintenance and management through dialup.

Interface Description
ETH0 Ethernet port
(RJ45)
It is a 10/100/1000BASE-TX Ethernet port. It uses RJ45
connector with ACT and LINK indicators, connecting the
background terminal, for loading and debugging
program. Moreover, the system can connect the devices
such as remote network management workstation
through the interface and realize the remote
management of equipment.
ETH1 Ethernet port
(RJ45)
It is a 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet port. It uses RJ45
connector with ACT and LINK indicators. The interface is
reserved for function expansion and not used in the
current version.
CF card interface
It is used to insert the Compact Flash (CF) card. As the
mass storage device, the CF card is used to store the
system configuration information and alarm log.
System clock input/output
interface
Each MPUA board has a system clock module. The
panel has four coaxial connectors. Where, two input
ports are used to connect the BITS clock input and two
output ports output 2048 KHz or 2048 Kbps clock to the
downstream device.
