How to use the touchscreen control panel
The Home screen provides access to the printer features and indicates the current status of the printer.
Return to the Home screen at any time by touching the Home button on the left side of the printer control panel, or touch the Home button in the upper-left corner of most screens.

button appears on the touchscreen. This permits users to cancel a process before the printer completes it.

Icon Purpose
See the table that follows for a description of the icons.
Pull down this tab to open the Jobs menu.
Sign-in icon.
Setup icon: Opens the Setup menu, where you can change
preferences and perform maintenance functions.
Wireless icon: Opens the Wireless Summary menu, where you can check wireless status and change wireless settings. You can also print a wireless test report, which helps diagnosing network connection issues.
HP ePrint icon: Opens the Web Services Summary menu, where you can check ePrint status details, change ePrint settings, or print an Info page.
Wi-Fi Direct icon: Opens theWi-Fi Direct menu, where you can turn on Wi-Fi Direct, turn o Wi-Fi Direct, and display the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
Cartridge icon: Opens the Cartridge Information screen, where you
can view the estimated level and pages remaining for the toner cartridge.

How to use the touchscreen control panel
Use the following actions to use the printer touchscreen control panel.

Paper Setup icon: Opens the Paper Setup menu, where you can
congure the default Paper Size and Paper Type for the paper trays.
Fax Status icon: Displays status information for the Auto Answer function, fax logs, and the fax sound volume.
ECO icon: Allows you to congure some of the printer environmental features.
Touch Touch an item on the screen to select that item
or open that menu. Also, when scrolling through menus, briey touch the screen to stop the scrolling.
Swipe Touch the screen and then move your nger
horizontally to scroll the screen sideways.
Scroll Touch the screen and then move your nger
vertically to scroll the screen up and down. When scrolling through menus, briey touch the screen to stop the scrolling.
Touch the Setup icon to open the Setup menu.
Swipe the Home screen to access additional menu options.

Supported operating systems
The following information applies to the printer-specic Windows and HP print drivers for macOS and to the software installer.
Windows: The HP Software Installer installs either a V3 or V4 PCL 6 print driver depending on the Windows operating system along with optional software when using the full software installer. See the software installation notes for more information.
macOS: Mac computers are supported with this printer. Download HP Easy Start either from 123.hp.com/
LaserJet or from the Printer Support page, and then use HP Easy Start to install the HP print driver. HP Easy Start
is not included in the HP Software Installer.
1. Go to 123.hp.com/LaserJet.
2. Follow the steps provided to download the printer software.

Introduction
The following information describes how to load paper into Tray 1.
Load Paper Tray 1
This tray holds up to 100 sheets of 75 g/m2 (20 lb) paper.
CAUTION: To avoid jams, never add or remove paper from Tray 1 during printing.
1. Open Tray 1 by grasping the handles on the left and right side of the tray and pulling down.
2. Slide out the tray extension.
3. For long paper, ip out the tray extension to support the paper.

4. Press down on the tab on the right paper guide, and then spread the paper guides to the correct size.
5. Load the paper into the tray. Make sure that the paper ts under the tabs and below the maximumheight
indicators.

6. Press down on the tab on the right paper guide, and then adjust the paper guides so that they lightly touch
the paper stack but do not bend the paper.
7. At the computer, begin the printing process from the software application. Make sure that the driver is set
to the correct paper type and size for the paper being printed from the tray.
