APPLICATION
The VT117 Radiator Thermostat senses the air temperature around it and can limit room temperature by regulating individual radiator output in wet central heating systems. Radiator thermostats are particularly useful in taking advantage of uncontrolled heat gains (e.g. solar gain or an open fire in a living room).
According to Building Regulations Part L1 radiator thermostats should be fitted “on all radiators except in rooms with a room thermostat” to satisfy either Minimum or Best Practice installations. The valve can be mounted vertically or horizontally at either end of a radiator.
To work correctly, the VT117 should be installed to a two pipe heating system and also have a free flow of air around the head to sense temperature.

Installation
The VT117 tailpiece has a 16mm square s
ection to enable a spanner to be used
to tighten the tailpiece into the radiator.
In order to function adequately, the VT117 should not be installed in direct sunlight, or obscured by furniture, curtains etc.
The VT117D straight valve must be installed so the water flow is in the direction of the arrow.

Servicing
The VT117 has a removable insert (V100U) that can be replaced. The V100U insert also incorporates the integral balancing device which is adjusted by inser ting a screwdriver in the slot and turning. This acts to limit the maximum opening of the valve.
