SOME DOS AND DON'TS ON THE SAFE USE OF EQUIPMENT
This equipment has been designed and manufactured to meet international safety standards but, like any electrical
equipment, care must be taken if you are to obtain the best results and safety is to be assured.
**************
DO read the operating instructions before you attempt to use the equipment.
DO ensure that all electrical connections (including the mains plug, extension leads and inter-connections between
the pieces of equipment) are properly made and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Switch off and
withdraw the mains plug before making or changing connections.
DO consult your dealer if you are ever in doubt about the installation, operation or safety of your equipment.
DO be careful with glass panels or doors on equipment.
DO route the mains lead so that it is not likely to be walked on, crushed, chafed, or subjected to excessive wear
and tear or heat.
**************
DON'T remove any fixed cover as this may expose dangerous voltages.
DON'T obstruct the ventilation openings of the equipment with items such as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains,
etc. Overheating will cause damage and shorten the life of the equipment.
DON'T allow electrical equipment to be exposed to dripping or splashing, or objects filled with liquids, such as
vases, to be placed on the equipment.
DON'T place hot objects or naked flame sources such as lighted candles or nightlights on, or close to equipment.
High temperatures can melt plastic and lead to fires.
DON'T use makeshift stands and NEVER fix legs with wood screws - to ensure
complete safety always fit the manufacturer's approved stand or legs with the fixings
provided according to the instructions.
DON'T use equipment such as personal stereos or radios so that you are distracted from
the requirements of traffic safety. It is illegal to watch television whilst driving.
DON'T listen to headphones at high volume, as such use can permanently damage your
hearing.
DON'T leave equipment switched on when it is unattended unless it is specifically stated
that it is designed for unattended operation or has a stand-by mode. Switch off using the
switch on the equipment and make sure that your family know how to do this. Special
arrangements may need to be made for infirm or handicapped people.
DON'T continue to operate the equipment if you are in any doubt about it working
normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch off, withdraw the mains plug and consult
your dealer.
ABOVE ALL
--- NEVER let anyone especially children push anything into holes, slots or any other opening in the case this could result in a fatal electrical shock;
--- NEVER guess or take chances with electrical equipment of any kind it is better to be safe than sorry!

POWER CORD (MAINS LEAD)
Do not place the product where a piece of furniture or other heavy object could trap the power cord (mains lead).
Handle the power cord by the plug. Do not pull out the plug by tugging the cord and never touch the power cord
when your hands are wet as this could cause a short circuit or electric shock. Never make a knot in the cord or tie it
with other cords. The power cords should be routed in such a way that they are not likely to be stepped on. A
damaged power cord can cause fire or give you an electrical shock. Check the power cord periodically to see if it is
damaged. If it is damaged, please ask an approved service agent to replace it.
For your own safety read following instructions carefully before attempting to connect this device to the mains.
This unit is designed to operate on a 220V-240V AC - 50Hz supply only. Connecting it to other power sources
may damage it. Ensure that the supply corresponds to the information on the rating label on the bottom of the unit.
This digital terrestrial receiver is supplied with a moulded mains plug. This plug must not be cut off as it may
contain a special radio interference filter, the removal of which could lead to impaired performance. If you wish to
extend the lead, obtain an appropriate safety approved extension lead or consult your dealer.
Observe the manufacturers instructions when connecting extension leads to the set. Check the fuse rating on the
new plug, this should be fitted with a 5 Amp fuse which conforms to either ASTA or BSI (BS1362) approvals, these
are easily identifiable by either the
extension lead, please consult a competent electrician.
This symbol means that this unit is double insulated. An earth connection is not required.
CAUTION
To prevent electric shock, do not remove the cover. No user servicable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified
service personnel. Disconnect from the mains supply before cleaning.

Power Source.
This unit should only be connected to a 220-240V AC 50-60 Hz power supply. Do not connect to any other supply.
Power Lead.
Do not place the lead where it may be stepped on or tripped over. Do not place heavy objects on the lead. If the
lead becomes cut or damaged, please disconnect the unit from the mains supply.
The mains plug or the appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily
operable.
Location.
Place on a solid base such as a shelf or in a TV cabinet or similar. Do not place near heat sources such as
radiators, fires or similar.
Do not block ventilation holes or place in a location that does not allow a free airflow.
Do not place the unit near water or in high humidity areas. Avoid splashing. If the unit does get wet please call an
approved service agent.
Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be
placed on the apparatus.
4
No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.
Do not place any objects into the ventilation slots.
Should any of the above take place, do NOT open the unit yourself. You will invalidate your warranty and cause a
possible safety hazard, as there are high voltages inside.
Lightning
During thunderstorms or going on holiday, it is recommended that the aerial ( if outdoor) is disconnected, to prevent
damage to the aerial input circuits.
WARNING
Battery Disposal.
When the batteries in the remote control are worn out, do NOT break open or throw on a fire. Do not place in
household waste. Contact your local waste authority for advice.

3. PREPARING
3.1. REMOTE CONTROL
First open the battery cover on the underside of the remote control. Put in both batteries 1.5Volt (RO3/AAA)
referring to the imprinted symbols (+/-) in the battery case and put on the battery cover again. While using the
remote control, direct it towards the front side of the receiver. If the remote control does not work or the chosen
function does not work, the batteries are most probably exhausted and they should be replaced as soon as
possible. Please use only the leak proof batteries. It is best to remove the batteries from the remote unit if you will
not be using the remote control unit for long time.
3.2. CONNECTIONS
Place your receiver on a firm, level surface with at least a 10cm gap around all sides of the case and in a position
convenient for connection to your television, a mains power outlet and a TV aerial wall outlet (or the 'flying lead'
from your TV aerial, as appropriate).
Turn off your television at the mains and disconnect the lead going to the aerial wall outlet (or the flying aerial lead)
and connect this to the AERIAL IN socket on the rear of the receiver. Connect the aerial cable supplied from the TV
OUT socket on the receiver to theTV set's aerial socket.
If you have a TV set with HDMI supported, you can choose the HDMI output of your receiver. To connect your TV
with the receiver, you have to use a special HDMI lead, obtained from most high street audio / video specialist.
6
Connect the TV SCART socket on the rear of the receiver to a suitable SCART socket on your television. There
may be more than one SCART socket on your television and, if unsure which to use, you should refer to its manual
for guidance.
Note:
You do not need to connect the scart socket if you are using an HDMI lead.
If you have a HiFi or other recording equipment connected to your television, please connect the receiver as
described here. Connect Audio LEFT/RIGHT.
Finally, plug the receiver into the mains outlet.
