SUGGESTIONS FOR USERS:
Before using this product, make sure that it is entirely suitable for the environment in which it is used. Operation of this instrument in residential areas could cause interference to radio and TV equipment. Any variation introduced by the user to the supplied equipment may degrade the instrument's EMC performance. To avoid electrical shocks, do not use this instrument when voltage at the measurement surface exceeds 24 VAC or 60 VDC. To avoid damage or burns, do not perform any measurement in microwave ovens.

Rugged Waterproof
Thermometers
IS145NEW-R1 09/00
Manufacturers since 1978
The HI145 series of thermometers are available in two versions:
HI145-00 (Celsius) and HI145-01 (Fahrenheit) have been especially designed for penetration of semi-solids (such as frozen food). The stainless steel probe is 125 mm (5”) long and has a 5mm (0.2”) diameter.
HI145-20 (Celsius) and HI145-30 (Fahrenheit) have been especially designed for temperature measurement of hot liquids. The stainless steel probe is 300mm (12”) long and has a 5mm (0.2”) diameter.
OPERATION:
• Turn the HI145 on. “CAL” will appear on the LCD, to indicate an automatic calibration check. Subequent to a successful calibration check, the LCD will dis-

play “-0-”. If the calibration check is unsuccessful, the LCD will display “ERR”, which means the meter requires factory calibration. After calibration check, the meter will automatically enter in the normal measurement mode.
• Introduce the HI145 probe to the sample.
• Thanks to its special shape, HI145-00 (or HI145-01) can be very easily inserted into
semi-solid samples. A minimum immersion level of 4 cm (1½") is recommended.
Wait for a few seconds for the display to stabilize.
To freeze the display, press the hold button. A blinking M appears on the right side of the LCD to indicate that reading has been memorized. Press either the HOLD or ON/OFF button to return to

normal measurement mode.
When not in use, switch the HI145 off, or else the meter will automatically switch off itself after 8 minutes.
Variations in readings or fading display can
indicate a weak battery (see below).
BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
When the HI 145 cannot be switched on or the display fades, unscrew the two screws to gain access to the battery compartment.
HOLD
Change the 1.5V AAA type battery, paying attention to its polarity.
Battery should only be replaced in a safe area using an alkaline type.
PROTECTIVE CAP:
With the thermometer, is supplied with a protective cap, which can also be used to hold the thermometer on the side of a vessel.
