volt, single phase power (L6-30 plug).

Finding 240 Volt Power
• Commercial
– Jobsite “breakout” boxes usually have
240 volt receptacle
– Jobsite electricians typically will
supply a 240 volt L6-30R receptacle
ifrequested
• Residential
– Laundry room, kitchen stove outlet,
welding outlets in garage, etc.
– Temporary power pole in new
developments
– Residential often has 4 wire receptacles.
A 4 wire to 3 wire adapter may be
needed as described previously. This
was easily done by field test contractors
• Generators
– Typical generator has 240 volt outlets
• Extension cords
– Use 10 gage cable with L6-30 plugs/
receptacles
– 50 foot 240 volt extension cord available
