THE GOLDMUND REFERENCE

Anniversary Version

USER MANUAL

The Goldmund Reference you just purchased represents a summit in terms of design, concept and quality of reproduction.

Therefore, great care should be taken before attempting to put the unit together. Read the instruction manual carefully. This will eliminate the risk of damage or loss in performance.

Assembly Instructions:

Your turntable is shipped in two boxes;

one contains the table base assembly, the second contains two wooden crates labeled 1 and 2 in which you will find all mechanical parts to be assembled as well as the electronic control box.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Read installation manual completely prior to installation.

Step 1 :

Position the base assembly, or support table, (1) found in the first carton box in a well open area.

Step 2 :

Make sure the largest part of its surface is facing toward the front, with the central pointed bolt (2) on the back.

Step 3 :

Open the crate # 1. Set the wooden side of the cover on the floor.

Step 4 :

Remove all parts from the crate and set the transport material aside.

Free the tripod assembly (3) and set it on foam found in the top cover.

Remove the large rubber washers and the long screws, used only for packing.

Step 5 :

Free the sub-base (4) and set it on the table assembly (smooth face up) with the control

keyboard facing the front.

Step 6 :

Free control panel cables from the sub-base bottom and run all cables through base.

Store the transport material in the crate # 1.

Step 7 :

Open the crate # 2.

Set the wooden side of the cover on the floor.

Remove the display unit (6) from crate (first part accessible on the top, near the middle of the crate) and mount on the left rear corner of sub-base assembly using associated hardware.

You may have to move by hand slightly the flexible feet of the display unit to insert the screws.

Run the cable through the. hole.

Note: Subassembly should be positioned so the hole is not obstructed by the base. Use a hex key supplied in the tool plastic bag to tighten the screws.

Step 8 :

Find the plastic bag # 1.

Mount the screw without head on top rear center hole of the table base assembly.

The screw should extend approximately 5 cm / 2" inches from the base, with screwdriver access on the top.

Set the sub-base on screw, insert flat head screw in one of the front hole of sub-base and rotate sub-base until the screw falls in place.

You will remove this screw later.

Step 9 :

Choose the small circular cylinder (7) (one of three) that has a lateral hole. Set aside the

Teflon and brass large washers (8).

Mount it on the back screw with the larger part of the center hole facing up.

Mount the two other cylinders in the front holes using the flat head screws provided in plastic bag # 1, inserted from the bottom through the base assembly.

Note: Larger part of the hole must be facing up.

Step 10:

Tighten the back cylinder using a key inserted in lateral hole. Tighten the front cylinders using the hex key also provided in the tool bag.

Note: Cylinders should be tight at this point.

Step 11:

Determine the best position for the table base assembly, taking care that the pointed center bolt of the base sits on the most solid support available such as a beam, etc.

Use small support circular plate (9) found in bag # 2 to receive the pointed bolt if the surface is wood.

If the surface is carpet or concrete, do not use the cylindrical plate.

Step 12:

Level the table base using the center pointed bolt and the adjustable front feet (10).

The back feet (11) are slightly out of floor contact to allow the back pointed bolt to support the weight and give the "Mechanical Grounding" connection.

Note: Use a small bubble level for leveling and a key to turn the pointed bolt.

Step 13:

Find motor assembly (12), and screw on feet (13) from bag # 3.

Leave 5 mm play between feet and motor assembly.

Mount motor assembly on base, run cable through small hole and leave hanging. Untighten the electronic box to leave space to run cable to its back panel.

Note: 1. Mount the opening in the motor base toward the turntable center.

2. Protect pulley at all times. Motor can become noisy otherwise.

Step 14:

Set the brass large washer (8) on top of the rear cylinder (7) and the Teflon large washers

(8) on top of the front cylinders;

set the heavy adjustment cylinder (14) on top of the washers, threaded side up; screw the spring assemblies (15) in thread 4 or 5 turns only.

Note: If the top of the spring is not perfectly horizontal, its lowest side should be oriented towards the center of turntable.

Step 15:

Set the tripod (3) on 3 temporary foot bases such as books, leaving the center free.

The flat part must be on top.
