Safety and warning notes

Please ensure that you have read these assembly instructions thoroughly and completely before you commence installation and commissioning of the appliance.
Compliance with all the notes and instructions in this guide is the prerequisite for the safe installation and commissioning of the appliance.
These appliances are very heavy and must be secured against tipping over during transport, installation and operation. The use of an anti−tip stabiliser is mandatory.
Keep the appliance doors closed until the appliance has been both fully assembled and secured in accordance with the instructions in this guide.
Due to the weight and dimensions of the appliance and to minimise the risk of injury and damage to the appliance, the installation of the appliance must be carried by at least two persons.
The installation and assembly of this appliance require comprehensive knowledge of various areas of handicraft (mechanics, carpentry, electrics).
A fully laden appliance is very heavy. If positioned on an unsuitable floor surface, the appliance could tip over and cause serious injuries and damage. The floor surface must be strong enough to support the load of the appliance and be made of a hard, inflexible material.
Keep these assembly instructions in a safe place for future reference.
Always clear the appliance out completely before removal and transport.
The person installing the appliance is responsible for guaranteeing its safe installation and commissioning.
Errors in installation and the damage resulting therefrom are not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. You will find the warranty terms and conditions in the documents supplied with the appliance.
Unplug the mains plug or remove the fuse before any work is carried out on the appliance.
Power cords must only be replaced by a qualified electrician.
Appliance repairs, due to their highly complex nature, should only be carried out by our after−sales service.
In addition to national legal rules and regulations, the connection requirements of the local power utility must also be observed.

Installation notes

Installation location

The ideal installation location is a dry, well ventilated room.
The installation location should not be exposed to direct sunlight or be near a source of heat, such as a cooker or heater. If installation near a source of heat is unavoidable, a suitable insulating plate must be fitted or the following minimum distances from the heat source must be observed:
−30 mm from electric cookers,
300 mm from oil− or coal−fired cookers.

Climate classes

The climate class is specified on the rating plate. It indicates the room temperature range in which the appliance can be operated.
Climate class Permissible room
temperature
SN +10°C to 32°C

Floor surface

To be able to install the appliance safely and ensure that it will function correctly, the floor surface must be horizontal and flat. The installation area must be at the same level as the rest of the room. The floor surface must be strong enough to support the heavy load of the appliance and be made of a hard, inflexible material. In case of doubt, consult an architect or qualified builder.

Installation niche

For trouble−free installation of the appliance and a harmonious appearance of the kitchen front, it is important that the specified dimensions of the installation niche be observed.
In particular, it should be ensured that the niche is square. The side walls must be free of ledges, projections and other uneven profiles.
The squareness of the installation niche can be determined using appropriate tools, e.g. a spirit level.
The side walls and the ceiling of the installation niche must be at least 16 mm thick.
RW496 may weigh up to 380 kg when fully laden.
All overhead units, to which the top of the appliance should be secured, must be firmly connected to the floor or the wall using appropriate means.

Transporting the appliance

!
Warning!
The appliance is very heavy. Transport the appliance with great care, otherwise persons could be injured or the appliance could be damaged.
Transport the appliance using a transport tool appropriate to the installation location and appliance (lift truck or dolly).
Transport the packaged appliance on the wooden palette as near as possible to the installation location.
Secure the appliance against tipping over during transport.
If the building prevents the appliance from being transported vertically, it is possible to transport it horizontally instead. To install the appliance, the room must be at least 221cm high. Following installation, there must be a minimum waiting period of ½ hour before the master switch is switched on.
Do not use any extension cables or distributors. A permanently installed socket is required for connecting this appliance to the mains.
Any necessary extension to the power cord must only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
The socket for connecting the appliance to the mains must be freely accessible. Connect theappliance to a correctly installed socket providing 220−240V/50Hz alternating current. The socket must be protected by a fuse with a rating of 10 A to 16 A or higher.
In the case of appliances operated outside Europe, the voltage and type of current on the rating plate must conform to the values of the local electricity grid. The appliance must not be operated if the voltage or type of current does not conform. Any necessary replacement of the power cord must only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
The castors are provided solely to help assembly. The appliance may be moved a maximum of 4 m on the castors.
The appliance must not be moved along uneven or soft floors on its castors.
It is not permitted to transport the unpacked appliance unless the anti−tip stabiliser has been fitted and the appliance has been completely cleared out.

Transporting previously installed appliances

1. Clear out the appliance completely. Only move the appliance when it is completely empty.
2. Remove all kitchen unit doors.
3. Fit the anti−tip stabiliser.
4. Remove all fixtures and fittings from the installation niche and wall.
5. Secure the appliance doors against inadvertent opening.
6. Pull the appliance carefully out of the installation niche. The appliance may be moved a maximum of 4 m on the castors.
!
Warning!
The appliance must not be connected to an electronic energy saving plug or an inverter that converts direct current to 230 V alternating current (e.g. solar energy systems, boat electrical systems).

Location of the power socket

The socket can be located to the right or left of the appliance.
To enable the electrical safety test to be carried out, the socket must be freely accessible and must not be located behind the appliance.

Dimensions of the appliance

Free−standing appliance RW 496
Fully integrated built−in appliance RW 496
Fully integrated built−in appliance RX 492
Dimensional tolerance: ±1 mm
Minimum height 1,990 mm: Appliance feet fully screwed in
Maximum height 2,060 mm: Appliance feet fully screwed out
Note!
A niche depth of at least 555 mm facilitates appliance installation.
7

Dimensions of the kitchen unit doors

If the kitchen unit doors are no more than 24mm thick, the built−in appliance can be fully integrated into the kitchen counter.
In the case of free−standing appliances with side walls, the kitchen unit door must be no more than 16mm thick.
Gap dimensions between the kitchen unit doors must be observed. With smaller gap dimensions, the door seals will scrape.

Handles

The handles and their fixtures and fittings must be able to withstand the following pulling forces:
Door for the right climate zone: 60 N
Doors for the left climate zone: 30 N

Weight of the kitchen unit doors

Height of the ventilation opening

To save energy and keep the noise level to a minimum, you should plan to have the aeration and ventilation opening as high as possible.
min.160
B
To guarantee correct operation of the hinges, the maximum load must not be exceeded by that of the kitchen unit doors.
Maximum load exerted by the kitchen unit door for the right climate zone: 18 kg
Calculate the load using the following formulae: Handles fitted to the side: Load = weight of kitchen unit door + 2 x weight of handle Handles fitted in the middle: Load = weight of kitchen unit door + weight of handle
When the castors are fully screwed in, B=20mm.
