Das KVM series2-Adaptermodul
Das KVM series2-Adaptermodul ist ein Bestandteil des
KVM series2-Systems und hilft, den Verkabelungsaufwand
erheblich zu reduzieren. Sie können zwischen PS/2-,
USB- und Sun-Kabeloptionen wählen. Mit dem KVM
series2-Adaptermodul werden Tastatur-, Monitorund Maus-Signale eines Servers durch ein einziges
CAT 5-Kabel (bis zu 30 Meter Länge) an Ihre Einheit
angepasst.
Das KVM series2-Adaptermodul wird mit Strom aus
dem Server gespeist und unterstützt die „Keep Alive”Funktion. Hierdurch kann Ihr Server ordnungsgemäß
arbeiten, egal ob er an die KVM series2-Einheit
angeschlossen ist oder nicht.
Tipp zur Störungsbeseitigung
Stellen Sie sicher, dass Ihr Server hochgefahren ist, bevor
Sie mit Ihrem KVM series2-System arbeiten. Wenn
Sie nicht über OSCAR auf Ihren Server zugreifen können,
überprüfen Sie Ihre Kabelverbindungen oder tauschen
Sie das KVM series2-Adaptermodul gegen ein neues
Modul aus.
Optimale Bildschirmaufl ösung
Beschränken Sie die Länge der Kabel zwischen Switch
und angeschlossenen Servern auf 15 Meter, um die
optimale Bildschirmaufl ösung von 1280 x 1024 zu
erzielen. Kabellängen von mehr als 15 Metern
die Bildschirmaufl ösung ein.

Einen Server an einen KVM series2-
Adapter anschließen
Schließen Sie die VGA-Monitor-, die Tastatur- und die
PS/2-Mausstecker des KVM series2-Adaptermoduls
an die entsprechenden Ports auf der Rückseite eines
Servers an. Wiederholen Sie dieses Verfahren für alle
Server, die an die KVM series2-Einheit angeschlossen
werden sollen.

Fahren Sie Ihre Server und die KVM series2-Einheit

About the KVM series2-Adapter module
The KVM series2-Adapter module is one part of the
KVM series2 system and is designed to drastically
reduce cable bulk. Choose between PS/2, USB and Sun
cable options. Use your KVM series2-Adapter module
to convert keyboard, monitor and mouse signals from a
server through a single CAT 5 cable (up to 98.5 feet or 30
meters) to your unit.
The KVM series2-Adapter module draws its power from
the server and has Keep Alive functionality that will keep
your server working properly with or without connectivity
to the KVM series2 unit.
Troubleshooting tip
Make sure your server is powered up before operating
your KVM series2 system. If a server is unavailable
through OSCAR, doublecheck your cable connections or
test another KVM series2-Adapter module in its place.

Optimal screen resolution
For an optimal screen resolution of 1280x1024, limit
the cable length between the switch and the attached
servers to 15 meters. Cable lengths greater than 15
meters will limit screen resolution.

Connecting the KVM series2-Adapter
to your unit
Choose an available port, labeled 1-16, on the rear of
your unit. Plug one end of a CAT 5 cable into a numbered
port and the other end into the RJ45 connector of a KVM
series2-Adapter module.

Connecting a server to the KVM
series2-Adapter
Plug the KVM series2-Adapter module’s VGA monitor,
keyboard and mouse connectors into the appropriate
port on the back of a server. Repeat this procedure for all
servers that are to be connected to the KVM series2 unit.
NOTE: For use with Listed Information Technology
Equipment (I.T.E.).

Powering up your system
Power up your servers and KVM series2 unit. Ensure that
your unit is properly confi gured, then begin operation of
