SAFETY CHECK-OUT
After correcting the original problem, perform the following
safety check before return the product to the costomer.

1. Check the area of your repair for unsoldered or
poorly soldered connections. Check the entire board
surface for solder splasher and bridges.
2. Check the interboard wiring to ensure that no wires
are “pinched” or contact high-wattage resistors.
3. Look for unauthorized replacement parts, particularly transistors, that were installed during a previous repair. Point them out to the customer and recommend their replacement.
4. Look for parts which, though functioning, show obvious signs of deterioration. Point them out to the
customer and recommend their replacement.

1-2 Mode Select Problem
Problem
Play mode even when Camera mode is selected.
Cause
Damage to SW952 on RSW PWB due to R CABINET hook catching during assembly process.
Soldered portion damaged simultaneously.

Replace SW952.
1-3 Mode Select Problem
Problem
Mode dial select problem (not consistent with display).
Sometimes selects without touching dial.
Cause
Contact problem with KSW PWB connector (CN801).
Repair Method
Clean KSW PWB connector (CN801).

1-4 Key Doesn’t Work
Problem
‘+’ key doesn’t work.
Cause
CONTACT SHEET B shorting components on MAIN PWB due to K SHEET 2 at bottom-right of MAIN PWB
having been affixed in incorrect position.
K SHEET 2 and CONTACT SHEET B affixed on battery box side.
Align with edge of MAIN PWB and bottom GND terminal face of C235 and affix
K SHEET 2.
Correct Positions for affixing K SHEET 2 and CONTACT SHEET B
Repair Method
Reaffix K SHEET 2 and CONTACT SHEET B in correct positions.
Align with edge of MAIN PWB and affix
CONTACT SHEET B on K SHEET 2.

2. LCD Display Problem
Problem
LCD backlight doesn’t light.
Cause
Soldering on heat-sealing portion of LED backlight flexible cable on LCD panel has come loose.
Repair Method
Replace LCD assembly.

3. Rapid Battery Consumption
Problem
Rapid battery consumption.
Sometimes battery alarm and power OFF even when new alkali battery is inserted.
Cause
Due to deformation of MSW PWB connector (CN851) shorting pin in connector.

4-1 Power Doesn’t Come ON
Problem
Power comes ON with AC adaptor, but not with battery.
Cause
Blown FUSE (F503) on DCST PWB.

Replace F503.
4-2 Power Doesn’t Come ON
Problem
Power doesn’t come ON with AC adaptor or battery.
Cause
A surplus screw inside the camera shorted a circuit on the DCST PWB blowing the FUSE (F504).

4-3 Hangs Up
Problem
Hangs up when power is switched ON and startup begins.
Rattling sound when camera is shaken.
Cause
Coil (L201) on MAIN PWB is loose.

5. Image Problems
Problem
Halation (overexposure).
Cause
LENS UNIT shutter doesn’t work.
Repair Method
Replace LENS UNIT.

Focusing error occurs with lens remaining extended.
Cause
Problem with LENS CONST.

Contraction due to incorrect tightening of four lens groups.
