INSTRUCTIONS
FUJICA MOUNT ADAPTER
X-D
The Fujica Mount Adapter X-D is specially designed for mounting Praktica screw-mount Fujinon lenses on the Fujica AX-5. With this adapter, you can take shutter-prefBrred and programmed automatic exposure pictures using screw-mount Fujinon lenses. It can also be used on the Fujica AX-3, AX-1, and STX-1.
MOUNTING
First, screw the Praktica screw-mount lens into the Mount Adapter X-D. Then place the red dot on the adapter's rear end against the red dot on the camera's lens mount and turn the lens 65° to the right. It will locks into position with a click.
SETTING THE MAXIMUM APERTURE (with the Fujica AX-5)
If you are using this adapter on the Fujica AX-5, set the maximum aperture of the lens you are using by aligning the corresponding f-number on the aperture scale of the Mount Adapter with the red line on the lens mount. If you are using a Fujinon 1 : 1.4/50 mm lens, for example, align "1.4" with the red line.
Note:
The maximum aperture scale has six positions : M, 1.4, 2, 2.8, 4, and 5.6. If the adapter does not have the corresponding f-number, set it to the one nearest to that number.
IUSING THE ADAPTER WITH THE AX-3 AND AX-1
If you are using it with the Fujica AX-3 or AX-1, the exposure mode is stopped-down automatic exposure. In this case, align "M" on the aperture scale with the red line.
USING THE ADAPTER WITH THE STX-1
If you are using it with the Fujica STX-1, the exposure mode is stopped-down metering. In this case, align "M" on the aperture scale with the red line.

4. If you want to take programmed automatic exposure pictures, set the camera's shutter speed dial to "AE" or "AEL". If you are taking shutter-preferred automatic exposure pictures, set it to the shutter speed you want.
5. Wind the film, focus the lens and depress the shutter release. The camera will automatically give you a correctly exposed picture.
Note : Be sure to set the aperture ring to the minimum aperture, or you will not
get properly exposed pictures.
•TAKING PICTURES (II)
Automatic exposure on stopped-down metering with the Fujica AX-5, AX-3 and AX-1
1 Mount the Fujinon lens on the camera by means of the Mount Adapter X-D.
2. Set the maximum aperture scale on the Adapter to "M".
3. Turn the aperture ring and set it to the f-number you want. Set the shutter speed dial to "AE" or "AEL".
4. Wind the film, focus the lens, then press in the preview button to stop down the
aperture, and depress the shutter release. Notes : 1 When taking automatic exposure pictures on stopped-down metering, use an
eyecup to prevent extraneous light from entering through the viewfinder and
fouling up your exposure setting.
2 If you are shooting with the shutter speed selector set to "AEL" on the AX-5
or AX-3, or if you are using this adapter on the AX-1, be sure to press in the
preview button before you press the shutter release halfway down. Otherwise
your picture will not turn out properly exposed.
3 If you are using the adapter on the AX-5, the LED aperture indicator in the
viewfinder will always turn on in the lowest position regardless of the aperture which is set. Caution is required, therefore, because it is impossible to check the aperture while looking through the viewfinder.
•TAKING PICTURES (III)
