Adjust the Shaft & Sheath for the
No. 28 Handpiece
It is important to check the sheath and shaft tip and
properly adjust them before attaching this handpiece to your Foredom flex shaft tool.The tip of the
flexible shaft should extend 3/4
the sheath and no more than 7/8
(see below).
On Foredom machines with standard shaft and
sheath, this adjustment is made by loosening the set
screw in the motor connector and moving the sheath
in or out while the motor and shaft/sheath assembly
are fully extended and straight while hanging or on
a flat surface.When the correct adjustment is made,
tighten the set screw in the motor connector.
Attach the No. 28 Handpiece to Flexible Shaft
Attach the handpiece by pushing it on the grooved
QD (quick disconnect) fitting on the sheath. Be sure
that the keyed tip of the flexible shaft is properly
lined up with the slot in the handpiece shaft
connector by looking into the rear of the handpiece
before pushing it on (see below). If it is not in line,
turn the shaft tip or the handpiece to the
correct position.

Maintenance and Lubrication
The No.28 handpiece does not require any
lubrication. Putting oil or grease into the front or
back will damage its prelubricated ball bearings.
Periodically remove the chuck nut and collet and
clean the collet holder seat and threads of dust or
debris with a bristle brush or air gun.
Changing Accessories
Be sure the shank size of the accessory
″ or 3/32″) is paired with the same size
(1/8
collet. Inserting an accessory which is too
small or too large may damage the collet.
Insert the pin
provided into
the pilot hole
and through
the spindle hole (turn spindle to align holes).
Apply wrench and loosen chuck nut slightly by turning counter-clockwise.Insert shank of accessory into
collet. Tighten chuck nut with wrench, keeping pin
in pilot hole.Test for a secure hold by pulling on
accessory.Remove pin.
Changing Collets
The No.28 handpiece includes two collets–1/8″ and
3/32
″ for holding burs and other accessories with
1/8
″ and 3/32″ diameter shanks. To change a collet
insert pin provided into the pilot hole and through
the spindle hole (turn spindle to align holes). Apply
wrench and unscrew chuck nut by turning counterclockwise. Remove chuck nut to expose collet and
pull collet out of handpiece shaft. Slip new collet in
place and screw on chuck nut with pin and wrench.
Caution To avoid damaging the collet
and allow for bur insertion:
screw the chuck nut back on too tightly.
If you tighten an empty collet or insert
an accessory which is too small or too
large you may damage the collet.

Ajuste de chicote y funda para el No. 28
Es importante checar la funda y la punta del
chicote y ajustarlos adecuadamente antes de
colocar este maneral a su motor Foredom de
chicote flexible. La punta del chicote flexible
debe entrar 3/4

En máquinas Foredom con chicotes y fundas
estandar,este ajuste se hace aflojando el tornillo
en el conector del motor y moviendo la funda
hacia adentro o afuera mientras el motor y el
ensamble chicote/funda están completamente
extendidos y direchos, colgando o en una superfície plana. Cuando se ha hecho el ajuste correcto,
apriete el tornillo del conector.

Sujete el maneral introduciéndolo en el canal
(de desconección rápida) de la funda.
Asegúrese que la punta con forma de llave del
chicote flexible se encuentre alineada con la
ranura del conector del maneral, mirando la
parte trasera del maneral antes de introducirlo.
De no estar alineado, gira la punta del chicote
o el maneral a la posición correcta.

Mantenimiento y Lubricación
El maneral No. 28 no require ninguna lubricación.

El maneral No. 28 viene con dos mordazas de

cambiar la mordaza inserte el perno proporcionado en el orifício guia y a través del orifício del eje
(gire el eje para alinear los orifícios). Utilice la
llave para desenroscar la tuerca del mandril,
girándola en el sentido inverso a las manecillas
de un reloj. Remueva la tuerca del mandril para
exponer y extraer la mordaza fuera del eje del
maneral. Coloque la nueva mordaza en su lugar
y enrosque la tuerca del mandril usando el
perno y llave.
Precaución:
fuerte la tuerca del mandril para evitar
dañar la mordaza y permitir la inserción
de la fresa. Apretar una mordaza sin el
accesorio colocado o insertar un accesorio
Nunca apriete demasiado
muy pequeño o muy grande puede
dañar la mordaza.
