Utilice este aparato eléctrico sólo con el objetivo que se describe en este Manual del Usuario.
PRECAUCIONES DE SEGURIDAD
Al utilizar aparatos eléctricos se deben acatar un número de precauciones de seguridad básicas, tales
como:
• Antes de iniciar su utilización, este frigorífico
debe instalarse y ubicarse correctamente de
acuerdo con las Instrucciones de Instalación.
También vea la sección Cómo conectar la electricidad.
• No permita que los niños se suban o se cuelguen
de los estantes del frigorífico. Podrían dañarlo y
recibir heridas graves.
• No toque las superficies frías del compartimento
del congelador si tiene las manos húmedas o
mojadas. Su piel podría quedar adherida a estas
superficies extremadamente frías.
• No almacene o use gasolina u otros vapores o líquidos inflamables cerca de este u otros aparatos eléctricos.
• En los frigoríficos con dispositivos automáticos
para hacer hielo, evite cualquier tipo de contacto
con las piezas móviles del mecanismo eyector, o
con el elemento de calefacción ubicado en la parte inferior del dispositivo para hacer hielo. No toque este último mecanismo mientras el frigorífico
está enchufado.
• La instalación del dispositivo para hacer hielo
debe realizarla un técnico calificado.
• Mantenga los dedos fuera de las "áreas de pellizco"; los espacios entre las puertas y entre las
puertas y el cuerpo del frigorífico son necesariamente pequeños. Tenga cuidado al cerrar las
puertas cuando haya niños cerca.
• Desenchufe el frigorífico antes de limpiarlo y de
hacer cualquier clase de reparación.
NOTA: Ante la necesidad de llevar a cabo alguna
clase de reparación, recomendamos enérgicamente que un técnico calificado sea el encargado
de realizarla.
• Antes de reemplazar una bombilla de luz quemada, el frigorífico debe desenchufarse a fin de evitar el contacto con un filamento con corriente
eléctrica. (Una bombilla de luz quemada puede
romperse mientras se la reemplaza).
NOTA: Aunque la configuración de los dos controles se encuentre en 0 (apagado) todavía hay
electricidad en el circuito de la luz.
• No vuelva a congelar alimentos que se hayan
descongelado por completo.
ELIMINACIÓN ADECUADA DEL ANTIGUO FRIGORÍFICO
El riesgo de que los niños queden atrapados dentro del frigorífico y sufran asfixia no son problemas
del pasado. Los frigoríficos desechados o abandonados siguen siendo peligrosos aún cuando se los
deje allí "sólo por unos días." Si desea deshacerse
de su antiguo frigorífico, tenga la amabilidad de seguir las siguientes instrucciones afín de prevenir
accidentes.
Antes de desechar su antiguo frigorífico:
• Quite las puertas y deséchelas en forma separada.
• Deje los estantes en su lugar para que a los niños les resulte difícil encerrarse en el frigorífico.
Refrigerantes
Todos los aparatos de refrigeración contienen refrigerantes, los cuales se deben retirar antes de la
eliminación del producto de acuerdo con la ley. Si
va a desechar algún aparato antiguo de refrigeración, consulte con su Ayuntamiento.
• Este electrodoméstico no está diseñado para ser
utilizado por personas con capacidades físicas,
sensoriales o mentales limitadas (niños incluidos), o que carezcan de la experiencia y el conocimiento necesarios, a menos que estén supervisados por una persona encargada de velar por
su seguridad o hayan sido instruidas en la utilización del electrodoméstico.
• Supervise a los niños para asegurarse de que no
juegan con el aparato.

CÓMO CONECTAR LA ELECTRICIDAD
Si el cable de alimentación sufre algún tipo de
daño, un representante del Servicio de Asistencia
Técnica de FAGOR debe reemplazarlo a fin de evitar un riesgo para la seguridad.
Nunca desenchufe el frigorífico tirando del cable
de alimentación. Siempre tome con firmeza el enchufe del frigorífico y retírelo de la toma de corriente de la pared.
Repare o reemplace inmediatamente todos los cables de alimentación que se hayan desgastado o
dañado. Nunca utilice un cable que tenga daños
por abrasión en toda su extensión o en los extremos del mismo.
Cuando aleje el frigorífico de la pared, asegúrese
de no aplastar o dañar el cable de alimentación.

Los controles de temperatura.
Controles de ajuste
externos (0-9)
Los controles de la temperatura vienen preconfigurados de fábrica a 5 para los compartimientos del frigorífico y del congelador.
Para ajustar la temperatura, pulse el botón "+" (más caliente) o "-" (más frío) en el lateral del congelador
o del frigorífico. La luz de ajuste se encenderá. Pulse "+" (más caliente) o "-" (más frío) hasta alcanzar el
ajuste deseado.
Puede que sea necesario hacer varios ajustes. Cada vez que usted que usted ajuste los controles, deje
pasar 24 horas desde el ajuste para que el frigorífico alcance el ajuste que usted ha seleccionado.
Ajustar uno o ambos controles en 0 (apagado), detiene la refrigeración tanto en el compartimento del frigorífico como en el del congelador, pero no interrumpe el suministro eléctrico del frigorífico.
Las configuraciones de los controles pueden variar dependiendo de las preferencias personales,
uso y condiciones de funcionamiento, y pueden requerir más de un ajuste.
NOTA: El frigorífico se envía con una película de protección que cubre los controles de la temperatura.
Si esta película no se retiró durante la instalación, hágalo ahora.

El filtro de agua.
Soporte

cartucho
Ponga la parte superior del cartucho hacia arriba dentro del soporte del cartucho y gírelo lentamente hacia la derecha.
Instalar el cartucho del filtro
El cartucho del filtro de agua está ubicado en la
esquina superior derecha trasera del compartimento del frigorífico.
¿Cuando se debe reemplazar el filtro?
En el dispensador hay una luz de indicación de recambio del cartucho del filtro del agua. Cuando
esta luz se vuelva anaranjada estará indicando
que el cartucho debe ser reemplazado pronto.
El cartucho del filtro debería reemplazarse cuando
la luz indicadora de recambio se vuelva roja o en
el caso de que disminuya el flujo de agua al dispensador o al dispositivo para hacer hielo.
Extracción del cartucho de filtrado
Si va a sustituir el cartucho, en primer lugar extraiga el cartucho viejo girándolo hacia la izquierda.
No tire del cartucho hacia abajo. Puede que caiga
un poco de agua.
Instalar el cartucho del filtro
1. Hay un adaptador acoplado a la parte superior
del nuevo cartucho de filtrado.
El adaptador debe extraerse antes de la instalación del cartucho. Para extraer el adaptador, gírelo a la izquierda aproximadamente un cuarto
de vuelta.
2. Llene el cartucho de recambio con agua del grifo para que haya un mejor flujo de agua desde
el dispensador inmediatamente después de la
instalación.
3. Alinee la flecha del cartucho con el soporte del
cartucho. Coloque la parte superior del nuevo
cartucho hacia arriba dentro del soporte. No empuje el cartucho hacia arriba a dentro del soporte.
4. Gire el cartucho lentamente hacia la derecha
hasta que el cartucho se pare. NO APRETAR
MUY FUERTE. Mientras está girándolo, éste se
alzará por sí mismo en su posición. El cartucho
girará aproximadamente 1/2 de vuelta.
5. Deje correr el agua desde el dispensador durante 5 minutos para aclarar el sistema y para prevenir salpicaduras.
NOTA: Un cartucho del filtro del agua recién instalado podría causar pérdida de agua desde dispensador.
Tapón de derivación del filtro
Se debe usar el tapón de derivación del filtro cuando no se dispone de un cartucho de filtro de recambio. El dispensador y el dispositivo para hacer
hielo no pueden funcionar sin el filtro o sin el tapón
de derivación del filtro.
Filtros de recambio:
Para pedir cartuchos adicionales, póngase con-
tacto con el distribuidor local.

Puertas del frigorífico
Es posible que Ud. note una diferencia entre el
manejo de las puertas de su antiguo y nuevo frigorífico. La característica especial de abertura y cierre de las puertas asegura que estas cierren por
completo y permanezcan selladas firmemente.
Cuando Ud. abra o cierre las puertas, notará una
posición de tope de parada. Si la puerta es abierta
más allá de este punto, permanecerá abierta permitiéndole así meter y sacar alimentos del frigorífico con más facilidad. La puerta se cierra automáticamente sólo cuando se abre parcialmente.
La resistencia que Ud. puede notar en la posición
de tope de parada es menor a medida que la puerta es cargada con alimentos.
La puerta se cierra automáticamente sólo cuando se abre parcialmente.
Más allá de la posición de tope
de parada, la puerta permanecerá abierta.

Recipientes grandes
Los recipientes de la puerta del frigorífico y los recipientes abatibles de la puerta de congelador más
grandes son ajustables.
Para extraerlos: Levante la parte frontal del reci-

piente hacia arriba, a continuación levántelo y sáquelo.
Para reemplazarlos o reubicarlos: Ajuste la parte
trasera del recipiente en los soportes moldeados
de la puerta. A continuación, presione hacia abajo
en la parte frontal del recipiente. El recipiente se
ajustará en su sitio.
Recipientes pequeños
Para extraerlos: Levante la parte frontal del reci-
piente hacia arriba y sáquelo.
Para reemplazarlos: Sitúe el recipiente por enci-
ma de los soportes moldeados rectangulares de la
puerta. A continuación, deslice el recipiente hacia
abajo hacia el soporte para que se ajuste en su sitio.
La tapa deslizante ayuda a prevenir que un golpecito haga derramarse algo o que las cosas pequeñas guardadas en el interior del estante de la puerta se caigan o resbalen. Ponga un dedo en cada
lado de la tapa deslizante junto a la parte posterior
y muévala hacia delante y hacia atrás para que se
ajuste a sus necesidades.
Presione la lengüeta y tire del estante atrás para sacarlo.
Estante deslizable a prueba de derrames
El estante deslizable permite alcanzar artículos
guardados detrás de otros. Los bordes especiales
están diseñados para ayudar a prevenir derramamientos o goteos a los estantes que se encuentran
más abajo.
Para sacarlos:
Deslice el estante hacia fuera hasta que llegue al
tope; a continuación, presione la lengüeta hacia
abajo y deslice el estante directamente hacia fuera.
Para reemplazarlos o reubicarlos:
Sitúe el estante a la altura de las guías y deslícelo
hacia su lugar. El estante puede ser reubicado
cuando la puerta esté a 90° o más. Para reubicar
el estante, deslice el estante más allá de los topes
Estante bebidas en la puerta
Este estante sostiene hasta 5 latas.
Los estantes cuelgan de los lados de la sección de
productos lácteos.
Para remover:
1. Vacíe el estante de vino/bebidas.
2. Sosteniendo el fondo de la sección de productos lácteos, levante el frente directamente hacia
arriba, entonces levante y extraiga.
3. Para separar el estante de la sección de productos lácteos, extraiga los alambres laterales del
estante por los agujeros en cada lado de la sección de productos lácteos.

hacia abajo hasta llegar a la posición deseada, colóquelo en línea con los soportes y deslícelo en su
lugar.
Asegúrese de haber empujado los estantes hasta

2. Encaje el lado posterior en los apoyos moldeados en la puerta. Luego empuje hacia abajo en

Cestas hondas del congelador
Para remover, empuje la cesta totalmente hacia la
parte posterior del congelador. Levante hasta que
los pasadores posteriores sean desenganchados.
Levante la cesta completa hacia arriba y hacia
afuera.
PRECAUCIÓN: Si las cestas del congelador no se
usan, éste podría presentar un funcionamiento defectuoso. Guardar artículos en el congelador sin
hacer uso de las cestas podría causar un funcionamiento de la temperatura defectuoso debido a las
restricciones de la corriente de aire dentro del
compartimento del congelador.
Cestas del congelador
Para sacarlas, deslícelas hasta que lleguen a la
posición tope, levante la parte posterior hasta sobrepasar la posición tope y deslícelas hacia afuera.
Asegúrese de haber empujado las cestas hasta el
fondo antes de cerrar la puerta.
PRECAUCIÓN: Si las cestas del congelador no se
usan, éste podría presentar un funcionamiento defectuoso. Guardar artículos en el congelador sin
hacer uso de las cestas podría causar un funcionamiento de la temperatura defectuoso debido a las
restricciones de la corriente de aire dentro del
compartimento del congelador.
Estantes deslizantes del congelador
Para sacarlos, deslícelos hasta que lleguen a la
posición tope, levante la parte posterior hasta sobrepasar la posición tope y deslícelos hacia afuera.
Estantes fijos del congelador
Hay dos tipos de estantes fijos del congelador.
Para remover este estilo de estante:
1. Levante el estante del lado izquierdo.
2. Extráigalo.
Para remover este estilo de estante:
1. Levante el lado izquierdo del estante y deslícelo
hacia la izquierda en el centro de los estantes
de apoyo.
2. Gire el lado derecho del estante hacia arriba y
hacia afuera de los estantes de apoyo.
Asegúrese de haber empujado los estantes hasta
el fondo antes de cerrar la puerta.

El compartimento del congelador.
Cómo llenar el congelador
Llénelo de forma que quede un espacio libre de, al
menos, 15 mm entre los paquetes y 25 mm de espacio entre la parte superior de cualquier paquete
y el estante o la cesta situado sobre del mismo.
Los paquetes pueden colgar por fuera de la parte
posterior de los estantes, pero deberán mantener
una distancia de unos 15 mm con las puertas.
• Los alimentos a congelar no debe ponerse en
contacto directo con la comida almacenada. Si
necesita congelar productos cada día, puede que
sea necesario reducir la cantidad a congelar.
• Si necesita congelar una cantidad elevada de ali-
mentos, ajuste el control del congelador a su posición máxima. Una vez que el producto haya
sido congelado, vuelva a ajustar el control del
congelador a su posición inicial.
• La comida se congela más rápidamente en los
tres estantes del centro del compartimento del
congelador, y más lentamente en los estantes de
la puerta del congelador.
• No almacene comida rápida congelada durante
más tiempo del recomendado por sus fabricantes.
• Si el electrodoméstico se desconectara durante
un período extenso de tiempo o si se produjera
un fallo en el sistema refrigerador, no abra las
puertas a menos que sea absolutamente necesario. Cuando lo haga, ciérrelas enseguida para
que la comida congelada permanezca en dicho
estado el mayor tiempo posible.
• Los estantes de las puertas del congelador marcados con una etiqueta de dos estrellas sólo deben almacenar alimentos previamente congelados.
Las bebidas gaseosas no deben guardarse en
el congelador.

Cajones y recipientes.

Cajones para frutas y vegetales
El exceso de agua que pueda acumularse en el
fondo de los cajones debe secarse.
En algunos modelos, el cajón de abajo tiene una
tapa que se desliza hacia atrás cuando se abre el
cajón. Esto permite un acceso completo al mismo.
Cuando el cajón se cierra, la tapa se deslizará hacia adelante volviendo a su posición original.
Cajones con humedad ajustable
Deslice el control hasta llegar a la posición
(alto) para proporcionar el alto nivel de humedad
recomendado para la mayoría de los vegetales.
Deslice el control hasta llegar a la posición
(bajo) para proporcionar el nivel de baja humedad
recomendado para la mayoría de las frutas.
Cómo retirar los cajones.
No todos los modelos tienen todas las características.
Como retirar los cajones
Pueden extraerse fácilmente los cajones superiores y tirando de ellos hasta llegar al punto donde
se detienen.
Si no puede quitar los cajones a causa de la puerta, primero trate de sacar las bandejas de la puerta. Si esto no proporciona el espacio necesario, se
necesitará hacer rodar el frigorífico hacia adelante
hasta que la puerta se abra lo bastante para deslizar los cajones hasta que puedan retirarse. En algunos casos, cuando se hace rodar el frigorífico
hacia adelante, se necesitará moverlo hacia la izquierda o derecha al mismo tiempo.
Para retirar el cajón:
1. Tire del cajón hacia afuera hasta la posición
máxima.
2. Gire los cuatro cierres hasta la posición de apertura.
3. Levante el frente del cajón y tire hacia afuera.
Para reinstalar el cajón:
1. Asegúrese de que los cuatro cierres están en la
posición de apertura.
2. Coloque los lados del cajón en los apoyos del
cajón, cerciorándose de que los cierres ajustan
en las ranuras.
3. Bloquee los cierres girándolos hasta la posición
de bloqueo.

Dispositivo automático para hacer hielo.
Un frigorífico recién instalado puede tardar de 12 a 24 horas antes de empezar a hacer hielo.
Dispositivo automático para hacer hielo
Tire de la parrilla superior del
congelador hacia afuera para acceder al dispositivo de hacer hielo. Cerciórese de reemplazar
siempre la parrilla; puede usarse
para almacenamiento.
El dispositivo para hacer hielo producirá siete cubitos por ciclo, aproximadamente de 100 a 130 cubitos en un ciclo de 24 horas, dependiendo de la
temperatura del congelador, de la temperatura ambiente, del número de veces que se abra la puerta
y de otras condiciones del uso.
Para acceder a la máquina de hielo, tire del estante situado sobre el cajón del hielo directamente
hacia fuera. Asegúrese siempre de volver a colocar el estante.
Si el frigorífico está en funcionamiento antes de
que se haga la conexión de agua al dispositivo
para hacer hielo, coloque el interruptor de alimentación eléctrica en la posición O (apagado).
Cuando el frigorífico está conectado al suministro
de agua, coloque el interruptor de alimentación
eléctrica en la posición l (encendido).
Escuchará un zumbido cada vez que el dispositivo
para hacer hielo se llene de agua.
El dispositivo para hacer hielo se llenará de agua
cuando la temperatura alcance el punto de –10°C.
Un frigorífico recién instalado puede necesitar entre 12 y 24 horas para empezar a hacer hielo.
Deseche las primeras cargas de cubitos de hielo
para permitir que la línea de agua se limpie.
Asegúrese de que nada impide el movimiento del
brazo detector.
Cuando el recipiente está lleno (al nivel del brazo
detector), el dispositivo para hacer hielo no producirá más hielo. Es normal que algunos cubitos salgan pegados.
Si no se usa hielo con frecuencia, los cubitos de
hielo viejos se opacan, adquieren un sabor rancio
y se contraen.
Si los cubitos de hielo bloquean la máquina de hielos, la luz verde se volverá intermitente. Para corregirlo, fije el interruptor de corriente en la posición O (apagado) y retire los cubitos. Fije el interruptor de corriente en l (encendido) para reiniciar
la máquina de hielos. Después de que la máquina
de hielos se haya encendido de nuevo, habrá un
lapso de unos 45 minutos antes de que la máquina
de hielos reinicie la operación.
NOTA: En casas que tengan una presión de agua
menor de la normal, es posible que usted escuche
la máquina repetir el ciclo varias veces cuando se
encuentre haciendo hielo.
Para tener acceso al hielo o al interruptor de
encendido:
1. Eleve el compartimiento y empújelo hacia delante hasta que se detenga.
2. Incline el compartimento para acceder al hielo o
al interruptor de corriente.
NOTA: Para poder aprovechar todas las ventajas
del compartimiento inclinable de hielo, en la bandeja situada bajo el compartimento del hielo coloque exclusivamente elementos que no sean más
altos que el punto más bajo del compartimento.
Cajón de almacenamiento de hielo
Para tener acceso al hielo, tire del cajón hacia delante.
Para sacarlo: Ponga el interruptor de alimentación
del dispositivo de hielo en la posición O (apagado).
Tire del cajón directamente hacia fuera y luego levántelo hasta sobrepasar la posición tope.
Para reinstalarlo: Al volver a poner el cajón, asegúrese de presionarlo firmemente en su sitio. Si no
llega hasta el final, vuelva a sacarlo y gire el mecanismo accionador 1/4
de vuelta. Luego empuje de nuevo el cajón.

Dispensador de agua y hielos. (en algunos modelos)
Recogedor
Para usar el dispensador
Seleccione CUBED (cubitos), CRUSHED (picado)
o WATER (agua).
Presione el vaso suavemente contra la parte superior de la base del dispensador.
El recogedor no se vacía solo. Para evitar las restos de agua, el recogedor y la parrilla se deberán
limpiar regularmente.
Si no se dispensa agua tras la primera instalación
del frigorífico, puede que haya aire en el sistema
de conductos de agua. Presione el brazo del dispensador durante al menos dos minutos para eliminar el aire atrapado del conducto de agua y llene el sistema de agua. Para eliminar las impurezas
del conducto de agua, tire los primeros seis vasos
de agua.
PRECAUCION: No introduzca nunca los dedos ni
otros objetos en la apertura del dispensador de
hielo triturado.
Para bloquear el dispensador
Presione el botón LOCK o LOCK
CONTROL (control de bloqueo)
durante 3 segundos para cerrar el
dispensador y el panel de control.
Para desbloquearlo, presione de
nuevo el mismo botón durante 3 segundos.
Luz del dispensador
El botón LIGHT (LUZ) enciende y
apaga la luz de noche del dispensador. La luz también se enciende
al presionar la base del dispensador. En algunos modelos, si la bombilla se funde,
debe substituirse por una bombilla de 6 Watts y 12
Volts, como máximo.
Alarma de puerta
La alarma de puerta suena si cualquiera de las puertas se mantiene
abierta durante más de 3 minutos.
La alarma dejará de sonar tras cerrar la puerta. En los modelos con LCD, aparecerá
una pantalla emergente. La alarma puede

limpiadores que contengan blanqueador, ya que estos
productos podrían rayar.

Cuidado y limpieza del frigorífico.
Limpieza del interior
Para evitar olores, deje un envase de bicarbonato
de sodio abierto en los compartimientos de alimentos frescos y del congelador.
Desconecte el frigorífico antes de limpiarlo. Si
esto no es posible, exprima el exceso de humedad
de la esponja o del paño cuando se limpie alrededor de botones, bombillas o controles.
Utilice una solución de agua tibia y bicarbonato de
sodio, una cucharada (15 ml) de bicarbonato de
sodio en un 1 litro de agua. Esta solución limpia y
neutraliza olores. Enjuague y seque.
El uso de soluciones de limpieza que no sea la
recomendada, especialmente aquellas que contienen destilados de petróleo pueden agrietar o
dañar el interior del frigorífico.
Parte posterior del frigorífico
Se debe tener cuidado al retirar el frigorífico de la
pared.
Tire del frigorífico directamente hacia fuera y empuje nuevamente para devolverlo a su posición.
Al colocar de nuevo el frigorífico en su sitio, asegúrese de no pasar sobre el cable de corriente ni sobre la línea de alimentación del dispositivo para
hacer hielos.
Evite limpiar los estantes de cristal fríos con agua
caliente, ya que la diferencia extrema de temperaturas puede hacer que se rompan. Maneje los estantes de cristal con cuidado. Golpear el cristal
templado puede hacer que se rompa en pedazos.
No lave las partes plásticas del frigorífico en lavaplatos.
La bandeja de congelación/descongelación se
puede lavar en lavaplatos.
Preparación para vacaciones
En el caso de vacaciones o ausencias prolongadas, retire los alimentos y desenchufe el frigorífico.
Limpie el interior con una solución hecha con 15
ml de bicarbonato de sodio por litro de agua. Deje
abiertas las puertas.
En caso de mudanza
Asegure todos los elementos sueltos como entrepaños y recipientes pegándolos con cinta adhesiva
en su lugar para evitar daños.
Al usar una carretilla para mover el frigorífico, no
haga descansar la parte frontal o trasera del frigorífico contra la carretilla. Esto podría dañar el frigorífico. Manéjelo sólo desde los laterales del frigorífico.
Asegúrese de que el frigorífico se coloque en posición vertical durante la mudanza.
Coloque el interruptor de alimentación eléctrica del

La cubierta de luz de su aparato
puede parecerse a una de las siguientes:

2. Las bombillas están situadas en la parte superior del compartimento, dentro de la cubierta de

bolsa en la parte posterior de la cubierta.
3. Para retirar el protector de la luz, en algunos
modelos, presione las pestañas en el protector y
deslice hacia delante y afuera. En otros modelos, sólo deslice la cubierta de la luz hacia delante y afuera.
4. Tras reemplazar la bombilla con una bombilla de
electrodoméstico del mismo potencia o inferior,
vuelva a colocar la cubierta de la luz y los tornillos (en algunos modelos). Al reemplazar la cubierta de la luz, asegúrese de que las lengüetas
de la parte trasera de la cubierta quepan en las
ranuras de la parte trasera del emplazamiento
de la cubierta de la luz.
5. Vuelva a enchufar el frigorífico a la corriente.
Compartimiento del congelador
1. Desenchufe el frigorífico.
2. Retire el estante situado justo encima de la cubierta de luz. En algunos modelos, tendrá que
retirarse un tornillo de la parte superior de la cubierta de la luz.
3. Para retirar la cubierta, presione en los lados y
levántela hacia arriba y hacia afuera.
4. Reemplace la bombilla con una bombilla para
electrodomésticos de la misma potencia o inferior, y reinstale la cubierta de la luz. Al reinstalar
la cubierta de la luz, asegúrese de que las lengüetas superiores hagan clic de forma segura.

5. Reinstale el estante y enchufe el frigorífico de

Si el frigorífico tiene un dispositivo para hacer hielo, se tendrá
que conectar a una tubería de agua potable fría. Se puede adquirir un kit de suministro de agua con un costo adicional a través de su proveedor.

bars. Presión de entrada del agua mínima permitida
permitada–2,8 bars.
La instalación del dispositivo automático de hielo debe realizarse únicamente por un técnico calificado.

RODILLOS
Los rodillos cumplen 3 funciones:
• Los rodillos se ajustan para hacer que la puerta se cierre con
facilidad cuando está abierta aproximadamente a la mitad.
(Elevando el frente a una distancia aproximada 16 mm del
piso).
• Los rodillos se ajustan para que el frigorífico quede firmemente asentado sobre el piso y no se tambalee.
• Los rodillos permiten mover el frigorífico para retirarlo de la
pared para su limpieza.
Después de instalar el frigorífico es necesario realizar algunos
últimos ajustes para nivelarlo.
Para ajustar los rodillos:
1. Para quitar la parrilla de la base, abra las puertas, retire los
tornillos de cada lado y tire de la misma hacia fuera.
2. Gire el rodillo frontal ajus-
tando los tornillos en el
sentido de las agujas del
reloj para elevar el frigorífico y en el sentido contrario para bajarlo. Use
una llave hexagonal de 3/
8", o una llave de tuercas
ajustable.
3. Estos modelos tienen también rodillos traseros ajustables
para que pueda alinear el frigorífico con sus muebles de cocina. Use una llave de tubo de 5/16" de mango largo para
girar los tornillos de los rodillos traseros en sentido de las
agujas del reloj para elevar el frigorífico y en el sentido contrario para bajarlo.
4. Reinstale la base de la rejilla.
ALINEACIÓN DE LAS PUERTAS
Después de nivelar, asegúrese de que la puerta del frigorífico
esté a 1/16" más alta que la puerta del congelador.
Para emparejar las puertas, ajuste la puerta del frigorífico.
1. Usando una llave de tubo de 7/16", gire el tornillo de ajuste
de la puerta hacia la derecha para elevar la puerta; gírelo
hacia la izquierda para hacerla descender. (Un tapón de
nylon está encajado en la rosca de la punta para impedir
que ésta gire a menos de que se use una llave.)
2. Después de una o dos vueltas con la llave, abra y cierre la
puerta del frigorífico, y a continuación compruebe la alineación superior de las puertas.

CONEXIÓN A LA TOMA DE
AGUA
ANTES DE COMENZAR
Siga estas recomendaciones cuidadosamente para minimizar
el riesgo de costosos daños causados por el agua.
El agua que suena como un martillo en las tuberías, puede dañar algunas partes del frigorífico y también causar escapes o
inundaciones. Llame a un técnico calificado para arreglar los
problemas de fontanería antes de instalar el suministro de
agua para el frigorífico.
Si usa el frigorífico antes de que se instale la conexión de
agua en el dispositivo para hacer hielo, ponga el interruptor de
funcionamiento del mismo, en la posición O (apagado).
No instale el tubo del dispositivo para hacer hielo en sitios en
donde la temperatura pudiera descender por debajo del punto
de congelación.
Cuando utilice un aparato eléctrico (un taladro por ejemplo)
durante la instalación, asegúrese de que dicho aparato esté eléctricamente aislado o conectado de tal manera que no exista
peligro de que se produzcan descargas eléctricas.
Todas las instalaciones deben adecuarse a las normas vigentes en materia de obras de fontanería.
La instalación del dispositivo automático de hielo debe realizarla un técnico calificado.
¡PRECAUCIÓN! Conecte el frigorífico a
una toma de agua potable solamente.
1. CONECTE LA TUBERÍA AL FRIGORÍFI-
CO (CONT.)
Algunos modelos tienen la conexión del frigorífico al final
de la tubería localizada en la parte exterior del cobertor de
acceso del compartimento del compresor. En otros modelos, el cobertor de acceso del compartimento del compresor debe ser removido para tener acceso a la conexión del
frigorífico a la válvula de agua.
En modelos que usan la conexión
de la válvula de agua, retire la
tapa flexible de plástico.
Coloque la tuerca de compresión y la férula (manga) al extremo del tubo, tal como se indica en la ilustración.
Inserte el extremo de la tubería en la conexión de la válvula de agua hasta donde sea posible. Mientras usted sostiene el tubo, apriete el ajuste.
Apriete la tubería en la abrazadera proporcionada para
sostenerla en una posición vertical. Quizás abrir la abrazadera requiera un pequeño esfuerzo.

3. PONGA EN MARCHA EL DISPOSITIVO

Ponga el interruptor de corriente del dispositivo para hacer
hielo en la posición l. El dispositivo para hacer hielo no entrará en funcionamiento hasta que haya alcanzado su temperatura de funcionamiento de –9°C o inferior. En dicho
momento entrará en funcionamiento, si el interruptor de
corriente del dispositivo está en la posición l.
NOTA: En el caso en que la presión del agua sea baja, la
llave de paso del agua podría tardar hasta tres veces más
en llenar de agua suficiente el dispositivo para hacer hielo.

Sonidos normales de operación.
Los frigoríficos más nuevos producen sonidos diferentes a los modelos más antiguos. Los frigoríficos modernos tienen más funciones y usan tecnología más reciente.
¿Usted escucha lo que yo escucho? Estos sonidos son normales.
• El nuevo compresor de alta eficiencia puede funcionar más rápido y durante más tiempo que el de su frigorífico anterior y puede
escuchar un zumbido de tono alto o un sonido pulsante mientras
opera.
• Puede escuchar un sonido de soplido cuando las puertas se cierran. Esto se debe a que la presión se está estabilizando dentro
del frigorífico.
CHASQUIDOS, ESTALLIDOS,
CRUJIDOS, GORJEO
• Puede escuchar sonidos como de crujido o estallidos cuando el
frigorífico se conecta por primera vez. Esto pasa a medida que el
frigorífico se enfría hasta la temperatura correcta.
• Los reguladores electrónicos se abren y se cierran para ofrecer
un enfriamiento óptimo y ahorrar energía.
• El compresor puede causar un chasquido o un gorjeo cuando intenta volver a arrancar (esto puede tomar hasta 5 minutos).
• El tablero de control electrónico puede causar un sonido de chasquido cuando se activa el relevador para controlar los componentes del frigorífico.
• La expansión y contracción de las bobinas durante o después del
ciclo de descongelación puede causar sonidos como de crujido o
estallidos.
• En modelos con dispositivo para hacer hielo, después de completar un ciclo de hacer hielo, se pueden escuchar los cubos de hielo cuando caen a la bandeja de hielos.
• Puede escuchar los ventiladores moviéndose a gran velocidad.
Esto pasa cuando el frigorífico se conecta por primera vez, cuando las puertas se abren frecuentemente o cuando se guarda gran
cantidad de alimentos en los compartimientos del frigorífico o del
congelador. Los ventiladores están ayudando a mantener las
temperaturas correctas.
• Si cualquiera de las puertas permanece abierta por más de 3 minutos, puede escuchar los ventiladores para enfriar los focos de
luz.
• Los ventiladores cambian la velocidad para suministrar enfriamiento óptimo y ahorrar energía.
SONIDOS DE AGUA
• El fluido del refrigerante a través de las bobinas puede producir
un sonido de borboteo como de agua hirviendo.
• El agua que cae en el calentador de descongelación puede causar un chisporroteo, estallido o zumbido durante el ciclo de descongelación.
• Un ruido de agua cayendo se puede escuchar durante el ciclo de
descongelado a medida que el hielo se derrite desde el evaporador y fluye hacia la bandeja de drenaje.
• El cierre de las puertas puede producir un sonido de gorgoteo debido a la estabilización de la presión.

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should be followed, including the following:
• This refrigerator must be properly installed and located in accordance with the Installation Instructions before it is used. Also see the How to Connect Electricity section.
• Do not allow children to climb, stand or hang on
the shelves in the refrigerator. They could damage the refrigerator and seriously injure themselves.
• Do not touch the cold surfaces in the freezer compartment when hands are damp or wet. Skin may
stick to these extremely cold surfaces.
• Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable
vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any
other appliance.
• In refrigerators with automatic icemakers, avoid
contact with the moving parts of the ejector
mechanism, or with the heating element located
on the bottom of the icemaker. Do not place fingers or hands on the automatic icemaking

• Before replacing a burned-out light bulb, the refrigerator should be unplugged in order to avoid

does not remove power to the light circuit.
• Do not refreeze frozen foods which have thawed

HOW TO CONNECT ELECTRICITY
The power cord of this appliance is equipped with
an earthing plug which mates with a standard
earthed wall outlet to minimize the possibility of
electric shock hazard from this appliance.
Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the outlet is properly
earthed.
Where an unearthed wall outlet is encountered, it
is your personal responsibility and obligation to

Earthing

IMPORTANT: The refitting of electric plugs and
cables should be done by a qualified technician or
service agent. In some countries the refitting of
electric plugs and cables is only permitted when
the work is completed by a qualified technician.
If the power supply cord becomes damaged, it
must be replaced by a qualified service agent in order to avoid a safety hazard.
Never unplug your refrigerator by pulling on the
power cord. Always grip plug firmly and pull straight
out from the outlet.
Repair or replace immediately all power cords that
have become frayed or otherwise damaged. Do not
use a cord that shows cracks or abrasion damage
along its length or at either end.
When moving the refrigerator away from the wall,

Mains lead replacement
If the mains lead on your refrigerator needs replacing at any time, it must be replaced by a special
lead which is obtainable from your local dealer. A
charge will be made for the replacement of the

About the temperature controls.
External Set Point Controls
(0-9)
The temperature controls are preset in the factory at 5 for both the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
To adjust the set point temperature, press the "+" (warmer) or "-" (colder) button on either the Freezer or
Refrigerator side. The set point light will come on. Press "+" or "-" until the desired setting is reached.
Several adjustments may be required. Each time you adjust controls, allow 24 hours after each adjust-
ment for the refrigerator to reach the setting you have selected.
Setting either or both controls to 0 stops cooling in both the freezer and refrigerator compartments, but
does not shut off electrical power to the refrigerator.
Control settings will vary based on personal preferences, usage and operating conditions and
may require more than one adjustment.
NOTE: The refrigerator is shipped with protective film covering the temperature controls. If this film was
not removed during installation, remove it now.
Ambient temperature limits
This refrigerator is designed to operate in ambient temperatures specified by its Temperature Class,
which is marked on the rating plate.

About the water filter.
Cartridge
Holder
Place the top of the cartridge up
inside the cartridge holder and
slowly turn it to the right.
Water Filter Cartridge
The water filter cartridge is located in the back upper right corner of the refrigerator compartment.
When to Replace the Filter
There is a replacement indicator light for the water
filter cartridge on the dispenser. This light will turn
orange to tell you that you need to replace the filter
soon.
The filter cartridge should be replaced when the replacement indicator light turns red or if the flow of
water to the dispenser or icemaker decreases.
Removing the Filter Cartridge
If you are replacing the cartridge, first remove the
old one by slowly turning it to the left. Do not pull
down on the cartridge. A small amount of water
may drip down.
Installing the Filter Cartridge
1. There is an adapter attached to the top of the
new filter cartridge.
The adapter must be removed before installing
the cartridge. To remove the adapter, turn it to
the left about 1/4 turn.
2. Fill the replacement cartridge with water from the
tap to allow for better flow from the dispenser immediately after installation.
3. Line up the arrow on the cartridge and the cartridge holder. Place the top of the new cartridge
up inside the holder. Do not push it up into the
holder.
4. Slowly turn it to the right until the filter cartridge
stops. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. As you turn the
cartridge, it will automatically raise itself into position. The cartridge will rotate about 1/2 turn.
5. Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes to
clear the system and prevent sputtering.
NOTE: A newly installed water filter cartridge may
cause water to spurt from the dispenser.
Filter Bypass Plug
You must use the filter bypass plug when a replacement filter cartridge is not available. The dispenser and the icemaker will not operate without
the filter or filter bypass plug.
Replacement Filters: To order additional filter cartridges, contact your local distributor.
About the refrigerator doors.
Refrigerator Doors
The refrigerator doors may feel different than the
ones you are used to. The special door opening/
closing feature makes sure the doors close all the
way and are securely sealed.
When opening and closing the door you will notice
a stop position. If the door is opened past this stop
point, the door will remain open to allow you to
load and unload food more easily. When the door
is only partially open, it will automatically close.
The resistance you feel at the stop position will be
reduced as the door is loaded with food.
When the door is only partially

Large Bins
The larger refrigerator door bins and freezer tilt-out
door bins are adjustable.
To remove: Lift the front of the bin straight up, then
lift up and out.
To replace or relocate: Engage the back side of
the bin in the molded supports of the door. Then
push down on the front of the bin. Bin will lock in
place.
Small Bins
To remove: Lift the front of the bin straight up then
out.
To replace: Position the bin above the rectangular
molded supports on the door. Then slide the bin
down onto the support to lock it in place.
Slide-Out Spillproof Shelf
The slide-out spillproof shelf allows you to reach
items stored behind others. The special edges are
designed to help prevent spills from dripping to
lower shelves.
T o remove:
Slide the shelf out until it reaches the stop, then
press down on the tab and slide the shelf straight
out.
To replace or relocate:
Line the shelf up with the supports and slide it into
place. The shelf can be repositioned when the door
is at 90° or more. To reposition the shelf, slide the
shelf past the stops and angle downward. Slide
shelf down to the desired position, line up with the
supports and slide into place.
The snugger helps prevent tipping, spilling or sliding of small items stored on the door shelf. Place a
finger on either side of the snugger near the rear
and move it back and forth to fit your needs.
Make sure you push the shelves all the way back
in before you close the door.

Door Beverage Rack (on some models)
This rack holds up to 5 cans.
The rack hangs from the sides of the dairy bin.
T o remove:
1. Empty the wine/beverage rack.
2. Holding the bottom of the dairy bin, lift the front
straight up, then lift up and out.
3. To detach the rack from the dairy bin, pull the
rack’s side wires out of the holes on each side of
the dairy bin.
To replace:
1. Reattach the rack to the sides of the bin.
2. Engage the back side of the bin in the molded
supports on the door. Then push down on the
front of the bin. The bin will lock into place.

Deep Freezer Baskets
To remove, push the basket all the way to the back
of the freezer. Lift up until the back pins are disengaged. Lift the entire basket up and pull out.
WARNING: Poor performance may occur if freezer
baskets are not used. Storage of items in the
freezer without using baskets may result in poor
temperature performance due to restrictions of air
flow within the freezer compartment.
Freezer Baskets
To remove, slide out to the stop position, lift the
front past the stop position and slide out.
Make sure you push the baskets all the way back
in before you close the door.
WARNING: Poor performance may occur if freezer
baskets are not used. Storage of items in the
freezer without using baskets may result in poor
temperature performance due to restrictions of air
flow within the freezer compartment.
Slide-Out Freezer Shelves
To remove, slide out to the stop position, lift the
front past the stop position and slide out.
Fixed Freezer Shelves
There are two types of fixed freezer shelves.
T o remove this type of shelf:
1. Lift the shelf up at the left side.
2. Bring the shelf out.
T o remove this type of shelf:
1. Lift up the left side of the shelf and slide it left
into the center of the shelf supports.
2. Rotate the right side of the shelf up and out of
the shelf supports.
Make sure you push the shelves all the way back in
before you close the door.

About the freezer compartment.
Loading the Freezer Compartment
Load so that at least 15 mm of space remains clear
between stacks of packages and 15 mm to 25 mm
of space between the top of any stack and any
shelf or basket above it. Packages may hang over
the front of shelves but must remain 15 mm from
doors.
• Food to be frozen must not be placed in direct
contact with food in storage. If food is to be frozen
every day, it may be necessary to reduce the
quantity to be frozen.
• If a quantity of food needs to be frozen, set the
freezer control to its coldest setting. After the food
is frozen, reset the freezer control to its initial position.
• Food is most quickly frozen on the middle three
shelves of the freezer compartment and most
slowly in the freezer door shelves.
• Do not store commercially quick-frozen food
longer than the time recommended by the food
manufacturers.
• If the power to the appliance is shut off for an extended time or if the refrigerating system fails, do
not open the doors unless absolutely necessary.
When it is necessary, close them as quickly as
possible so the frozen food will stay frozen as
long as possible.
• The freezer door storage shelves marked with a
two-star label are only appropriate for the storage
of previously frozen food.
Effervescent drinks should not be stored in the
freezer compartment.

Fruit and Vegetable Crispers
Excess water that may accumulate in the bottom of
the drawers should be wiped dry.
On some models the bottom drawer has a cover
that slides back as the drawer is opened. This allows full access to the drawer. As the drawer is
closed, the cover will slide forward into its original
position.
Adjustable Humidity Crispers
Slide the control all the way to the (high) setting
to provide high humidity recommended for most
vegetables.
About crisper removal.

Crisper Removal
The top crispers can easily be removed by pulling
the drawer straight out and lifting the drawer up
and over the stop location.
If the door prevents you from taking out the drawers, first try to remove the door bins. If this does
not offer enough clearance, the refrigerator will
need to be rolled forward until the door opens
enough to slide the drawers out. In some cases,
when you roll the refrigerator out, you will need to
move the refrigerator to the left or right as you roll it
out.
Slide the control all the way to the (low) setting
to provide lower humidity levels recommended for
most fruits.
To replace the bottom crisper:
1. Make sure all four swing locks are in the unlock
position.
2. Place the sides of the drawer into the drawer
supports, making sure the swing locks fit on the
drawer slots.
3. Lock all four swing locks by rotating them to the
lock position.
To remove the bottom crisper:
1. Pull the drawer out to the stop position.
2. Rotate all four swing locks to the unlock position.
3. Lift the front of the drawer up and out.

About the automatic icemaker.
A newly-installed refrigerator may take 12 to 24 hours to begin making ice.
Automatic Icemaker
The icemaker will produce seven cubes per cycle–
approximately 100–130 cubes in a 24-hour period,
depending on freezer compartment temperature,
room temperature, number of door openings and
other use conditions.
To access the icemaker: Pull the shelf above the
ice drawer straight out. Always be sure to replace
the shelf.
If the refrigerator is operated before the water connection is made to the icemaker, set the power
switch in the O position.
When the refrigerator has been connected to the
water supply, set the power switch to the l position.
You will hear a buzzing sound each time the icemaker fills with water.
The icemaker will fill with water when it cools to –
10°C. A newly-installed refrigerator may take 12 to
24 hours to begin making ice cubes.
Throw away the first few batches of ice to allow the
water line to clear.
Pull the upper freezer shelf
straight out to access the icemaker. Always be sure to replace
the shelf. The shelf can be used
for storage.
Be sure nothing interferes with the sweep of the
feeler arm.
When the bin fills to the level of the feeler arm, the
icemaker will stop producing ice. It is normal for
several cubes to be joined together. If ice is not
used frequently, old ice cubes will become cloudy,
taste stale and shrink.
If ice cubes get stuck in the icemaker, the green
power light will blink. To correct this, set the power
switch to O and remove the cubes. Set the power
switch to I to restart the icemaker. After the icemaker has been turned on again, there will be a
delay of about 45 minutes before the icemaker resumes operation.
NOTE: In homes with lower-than-average water
pressure, you may hear the icemaker cycle multiple times when making one batch of ice.
To access ice or reach the power switch:
1. Lift the bin, then pull it forward until the bin
stops.
2. Lower the bin to access ice or reach the power
switch.
NOTE: In order to take full advantage of the tilt-out
ice bin, only store items on the shelf below the ice
bin that are no taller than the lowest point on the
bin.

Ice Storage Drawer
To access ice, pull the drawer forward.
T o remove:
Set the icemaker power switch to the O (off) position. Pull the drawer straight out and then lift past
the stop position.
To replace:
When replacing the drawer, be sure to press it
firmly into place. If it does not go all the way back,
remove it and rotate the drive mechanism 1/4 turn.
Then push the drawer back again.

About the ice and water dispenser. (on some models)
Spill Shelf
To Use the Dispenser
Select CUBED, CRUSHED or WATER.
Press the glass gently against the top of the dis-
penser cradle.
The spill shelf is not self-draining. To reduce water
spotting, the shelf and its grille should be cleaned
regularly.
If no water is dispensed when the refrigerator is
first installed, there may be air in the water line system. Press the dispenser arm for at least two minutes to remove trapped air from the water line and
to fill the water system. To flush out impurities in
the water line, throw away the first six glassfuls of
water.
CAUTION: Never put fingers or any other objects
into the ice crusher discharge opening.
Locking the Dispenser
Press the LOCK or LOCK CONTROLS pad for 3 seconds to lock
the dispenser and control panel. To
unlock, press and hold the pad
again for 3 seconds.
Dispenser Light
The LIGHT pad turns the night
light in the dispenser on and off.
The light also comes on when the
dispenser cradle is pressed. On
some models, if this light burns out, it should be replaced with a 6 watt 12 V maximum bulb.
Door Alarm
Use Door Alarm to sound if either
door is open for more than 3 minutes. The alarm will stop once the
door is closed. For LCD models, a
popup screen will appear. The alarm can be silenced by touching the LCD screen.
Care and cleaning of the refrigerator.
Cleaning the Outside
The dispenser drip area, beneath the grille,
should be wiped dry. Water left in this area may
leave deposits. Remove the deposits by adding undiluted vinegar to the well. Soak until the deposits

The dispenser cradle. Before cleaning, lock the
dispenser by pressing and holding the LOCK or
LOCK CONTROLS pad for 3 seconds. Clean with
warm water and baking soda solution—about a
tablespoon (15 ml) of baking soda to a quart (1 liter) of water. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.
The door handles and trim. Clean with a cloth
dampened with soapy water. Dry with a soft cloth.
The stainless steel panels and door handles (on
some models), can be cleaned with a commercially
available stainless steel cleaner. A spray-on stainless steel cleaner works best.
Do not use appliance wax or polish on the stainless
steel.
Keep the outside clean. Wipe with a clean cloth
lightly dampened with kitchen appliance wax or
mild liquid dish detergent. Dry and polish with a
clean, soft cloth.
Do not wipe the refrigerator with a soiled dish cloth
or wet towel. These may leave a residue that can
erode the paint. Do not use scouring pads, powdered cleaners, bleach or cleaners containing
bleach because these products can scratch and
weaken the paint finish.

Care and cleaning of the refrigerator.
Cleaning the Inside
To help prevent odors, leave an open box of bak-
ing soda in the fresh food and freezer compartments.
Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. If this is
not practical, wring excess moisture out of sponge
or cloth when cleaning around switches, lights or
controls.
Use warm water and baking soda solution— about
a tablespoon (15 ml) of baking soda to a quart (1 liter) of water. This both cleans and neutralizes
odors. Rinse and wipe dry.
Use of any cleaning solution other than that which
is recommended, especially those that contain petroleum distillates, can crack or damage the interior
of the refrigerator.
Behind the Refrigerator
Be careful when moving the refrigerator away from
the wall.
Pull the refrigerator straight out and return it to position by pushing it straight in.
When pushing the refrigerator back, make sure
you don’t roll over the power cord or icemaker supply line.
Avoid cleaning cold glass shelves with hot water
because the extreme temperature difference may
cause them to break. Handle glass shelves carefully. Bumping tempered glass can cause it to shatter.
Do not wash any plastic refrigerator parts in the
dishwasher.
The chill/thaw tray is dishwasher safe.
Preparing for Vacation
For long vacations or absences, remove food and
unplug the refrigerator. Clean the interior with a
baking soda solution of 15 ml of baking soda to 1
liter of water. Leave the doors open.
Set the icemaker power switch to the O position
and shut off the water supply to the refrigerator.
Preparing to Move
Secure all loose items such as shelves and drawers by taping them securely in place to prevent
damage.
When using a hand truck to move the refrigerator,
do not rest the front or back of the refrigerator
against the hand truck. This could damage the refrigerator. Handle only from the sides of the refrigerator.
Be sure the refrigerator stays in an upright position
during moving.
If the temperature can drop below freezing, have a
qualified servicer drain the water supply system to
prevent serious property damage due to flooding.

Replacing the light bulbs.
Setting the controls to 0 (off) does not remove power to the light circuit.
Your light shield will look like one
of the following:
Refrigerator Compartment—Upper Light
1. Unplug the refrigerator.
2. The bulbs are located at the top of the compartment, inside the light shield. On some models, a
screw at the front of the light shield will have to
be removed. On other models, the screw is located in the pocket located at the back of the
light shield.
3. To remove the light shield, on some models,
press in on the tabs on the sides of the shield
and slide forward and out. On other models, just
slide the shield forward and out.
Freezer Compartment
1. Unplug the refrigerator.
2. Remove the shelf just above the light shield.
(The shelf will be easier to remove if it is emptied
first.) On some models, a screw at the top of the
light shield will need to be removed.
3. To remove the light shield, press in on the sides,
and lift up and out.
4. After replacing the bulb with an appliance bulb of
the same or lower wattage, replace the light
shield and screws (on some models). When replacing the light shield, make sure that the tabs
at the back of the shield fit into the slots at the
back of the light shield housing.
5. Plug the refrigerator back in.

WATER SUPPLY TO THE ICEMAKER
(ON SOME MODELS)
If the refrigerator has an icemaker, it will have to be connected
to a cold water line. An approved water supply kit is available at
extra cost from your local distributor.
Maximum permissible inlet water pressure–8.2 bars. Minimum
permissible inlet water pressure–2.8 bars.
Installation of the icemaker must be done by a qualified service
technician.

ROLLERS
The rollers have 3 purposes:
• Rollers adjust so the door closes easily when opened about
halfway. [Raise the front about 5/8" (16 mm) from the floor.]
• Rollers adjust so the refrigerator is firmly positioned on the
floor and does not wobble.
• Rollers allow you to move the refrigerator away from the wall
for cleaning.
Final leveling adjustments should be made after the refrigerator has been installed.
To adjust the rollers:
1. Remove the base grille by opening the doors, removing the
screws at each end, and pulling it straight out.
2. Turn the front roller adjust-
ing screws clockwise to
raise the refrigerator, counterclockwise to lower it.
Use a 3/8" hex socket or
wrench, or an adjustable
wrench.
3. These models also have
rear adjustable rollers so
you can align the refrigerator with your kitchen cabinets. Use a long-handled 5/16"
socket wrench to turn the screws for the rear rollers–clockwise to raise the refrigerator, counterclockwise to lower it.
4. Replace the base grille.
DOOR ALIGNMENT
After leveling, make sure that the refrigerator door is 1/16"
higher than the freezer door.
To align the doors, adjust the refrigerator door.
1. Using a 7/16" socket wrench, turn the door adjusting screw
to the right to raise the door, to the left to lower it. (A nylon
plug, imbedded in the threads of the pin, prevents the pin
from turning unless a wrench is used.)
2. After one or two turns of the wrench, open and close the refrigerator door and check the alignment at the top of the
doors.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Follow these recommendations carefully to minimize the risk of
expensive water damage.
Water hammer (water banging in the pipes) in house plumbing
can cause damage to refrigerator parts and lead to water leakage or flooding. Call a qualified plumber to correct water hammer before installing the water supply line to the refrigerator.
If you use your refrigerator before connecting the water line,
make sure the icemaker power switch is in the O (off) position.
Do not install the icemaker tubing in areas where temperatures
fall below freezing.
When using any electrical device (such as a power drill) during
installation, be sure the device is insulated or wired in a manner to prevent the hazard of electric shock.
All installations must be in accordance with local plumbing code requirements.
Installation of the icemaker must be done by a qualified
service technician.
WARNING! Connect to potable water supply only.
1. CONNECT THE TUBING TO THE RE-
FRIGERATOR (CONT.)
Some models have the refrigerator connection at the end
of tubing located outside the compressor compartment access cover. On other models, the compressor compartment
access cover must be removed in order to access the refrigerator connection at the water valve.
On models using the refrigeration connection at the
water valve, remove the
plastic flexible cap.

• Before making the connection to the refrigerator, be sure the
refrigerator power cord is not plugged into the wall outlet.
• We recommend installing a water filter if your water supply
has sand or particles that could clog the screen of the
refrigerator’s water valve. Install it in the water line near the
refrigerator.
Place the compression nut and ferrule (sleeve) onto the
end of the tubing as shown.
Insert the end of the tubing into the water valve connection
as far as possible. While holding the tubing, tighten the fitting.
Fasten the tubing into the clamp provided to hold it in a
vertical position. You may need to pry open the clamp.
One of the illustrations below will look like the connection on your icemaker.

2. TURN THE WATER ON AND PLUG IN
THE REFRIGERATOR
Arrange the coil of tubing so that it does not vibrate against
the back of the refrigerator or against the wall. Push the refrigerator back to the wall.
3. START THE ICEMAKER
Set the icemaker power switch to the l position. The icemaker will not begin to operate until it reaches its operating
temperature of –9°C or below. It will then begin operation
automatically if the icemaker power switch is in the l position.
NOTE: In lower water pressure conditions, the water valve
may turn on up to 3 times to deliver enough water to the
icemaker.

Normal operating sounds.
Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators. Modern
refrigerators have more features and use newer technology.
Do you hear what I hear? These sounds are normal.
• The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longer
than your old refrigerator and you may hear a high-pitched hum or
pulsating sound while it is operating.
• You may hear a whooshing sound when the doors close. This is
due to pressure equalizing within the refrigerator.
CLICKS, POPS,
CRACKS and CHIRPS
• You may hear cracking or popping sounds when the refrigerator is
first plugged in. This happens as the refrigerator cools to the correct temperature.
• Electronic dampers click open and closed to provide optimal cooling and energy savings.
• The compressor may cause a clicking or chirping sound when attempting to restart (this could take up to 5 minutes).
• The electronic control board may cause a clicking sound when relays activate to control refrigerator components.
• Expansion and contraction of cooling coils during and after defrost
can cause a cracking or popping sound.
• On models with an icemaker, after an icemaking cycle, you may
hear the ice cubes dropping into the ice bucket.
• You may hear the fans spinning at high speeds. This happens
when the refrigerator is first plugged in, when the doors are
opened frequently or when a large amount of food is added to the
refrigerator or freezer compartments. The fans are helping to
maintain the correct temperatures.
• If either door is open for over 3 minutes, you may hear the fans
come on in order to cool the light bulbs.
• The fans change speeds in order to provide optimal cooling and
energy savings.
WATER SOUNDS
• The flow of refrigerant through the freezer cooling coils may make
a gurgling noise like boiling water.
• Water dropping on the defrost heater can cause a sizzling, popping or buzzing sound during the defrost cycle.
• A water dripping noise may occur during the defrost cycle as ice
melts from the evaporator and flows into the drain pan.
• Closing the door may cause a gurgling sound due to pressure
equalization.
