ETC® Setup Guide
The battery pack option (UBPO) kit provides battery power to the architectural control processor for up to 90 minutes during power outages when installed in an ERn2 or DRd enclosure, or up to 40 minutes when installed in an ERn4 enclosure with two Paradigm Architectural Control Processors. Note:
A single DRd enclosure supports the use of either the Unison ride thru option (URTO) kit or the Unison battery pack option (UBPO) kit, but not both in the same enclosure.
Install the Battery Pack Option Kit
The battery pack option kit is provided with a battery pack and a wiring harness with a four pin connector. The battery pack also includes a battery cable lead which must be connected to the battery prior to installation.
The wiring harness splits into two twisted pairs of cable with a two pin connector on each end. The shorter of the two twisted pairs connects to the right I/O board of either a host DRd or ERn enclosure. The longer of the two twisted pairs is used specifically for installation in an ERn4 top position right I/O board. Cable tie this twisted pair back and out of the way when it is not required.

Connect Battery Cable

The battery cable is left disconnected when shipped from the factory and should be connected prior to installation.
Step 1: Temporarily remove the six screws securing the cover to the battery pack. Step 2: Locate the loose red battery cable lead and attach it to the spade receptacle on the
battery.

Note:
Step 3: Replace the cover and secure it with the six screws previously removed.
You might find it easier to lift the battery up slightly from the container to fit the spade onto the receptacle.

Install Battery Pack

Step 1: Install the wiring harness into the enclosure (the connector is keyed to ensure proper
orientation). Harness installation into the enclosure is similar for both a host DRd and a host ERn enclosure.
a: Insert the connector end through the opening in the bottom of the enclosure. The
connector is designed to snap into place without additional hardware, therefore slight force may be required to ensure the connector installs properly.
Step 2: Connect to the right I/O board.
