INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your purchase of Energy Speaker Systems products! Proprietary
technology and high quality manufacturing will allow you to enjoy the most natural and
accurate music reproduction for many years.The advice offered in this manual is aimed at
helping you maximize and maintain peak performance, and therefore, your listening
satisfaction. Please take the time to read all of the instructions contained in this manual to
make certain your system is properly installed and functioning correctly.

BREAK-IN PERIOD

We strongly advise that you resist the temptation to play your Energy Speaker Systems
speakers to their full capabilities until they have been properly broken in.This process should
last approximately 50 to 100 hours of music playback. This can be easily be done by putting
your compact disc player on Repeat mode, while playing a CD with a wide dynamic range at
average room volume listening levels.

AMPLIFIER REQUIREMENTS

All Energy speakers are designed to be extremely efficient.All models are designed to be 8
ohm compatible allowing playback on almost any amplifier or receiver on the market. Most
amplifiers with a power rating of 20-100 watts per channel will effectively operate your
Energy speakers.

Warning: If an amplifier or receiver is over-driven, the resulting distortion is actually many
times greater than its rated power. Over-driven amplifier distortion is called “Clipping”,
easily identified by its fuzzy, distorted sound, and can damage any speaker. The volume
control of most amplifiers and receivers is a logarithmic type, which means that full power
may be reached with the volume control set at as little as the halfway point. Operating the
loudness, treble, or bass controls increases power output well beyond rated levels. The
warranty on your speakers is therefore void if the voice coils are burned or damaged as a
result of overpowering or clipping.

Product warranties may be legislated differently from one country to another. Ask your local
dealer for details of the LIMITED WARRANTY applicable in your country.

NOTE: Please retain the carton and packing material for your Energy Speaker Systems
products to protect them in the event of a move or if they need to be shipped to a service
center. Product received damaged by a service center that has been shipped by the end
user in other than the original packaging will be repaired, refurbished and properly
packaged for return shipment at the end user's expense.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: If you are unable to install the speakers yourself , please contact an authorized
installation contractor, or your authorized Energy Speaker Systems retailer.

Caution: Turn off all power in your audio/video system before proceeding with your
installation. Not doing so could result in potential damage to the system.

To install the speakers follow these easy steps:

1) Decide the placement for your speakers.Advanced planning in regards to the

placement of your speakers is critical. It is imperative that the wall or ceiling cavity be

free from debris, moisture, wall insulation, and any material that is easily combustible.

The mounting location must also be void of wall studs or bracing, in the location for

the cut-out. Adequate depth for the speaker to fit flush to the wall or ceiling surface is
important. If you are unsure about the contents of the wall in which you wish to
mount the speakers, simply drill a small hole and using a metal clothing hanger, insert
the end of the hanger into the wall and twist it to feel for any debris or wall studs.

2) Once you have determined the final mounting position, use the supplied template and
mark the cut-out on the wall or ceiling, depending on the model purchased.To mark
the cut-out size, simply trace an outline of the supplied template, found in the box,
with a pencil.

3) Using the appropriate wall cutting tool, accurately cut the hole in the wall material,
based on the appropriate cut-out dimension.

4) Install speaker cable(s) from the receiver or amplifier to the inside of the wall or
ceiling, and leave enough slack in the wire so it can hang out from the hole. Using the
appropriate wire is essential, as your local municipality may have certain wiring codes
that must be maintained.

NOTE: To connect the EAS-6Cst you will need to run both the left and right speaker cables
to one single hole as this speaker has stereo input connectors.

5) Connect the speaker wire from the positive (RED +) terminal on the receiver to the
positive (RED+) terminal on the speaker. Connect the negative (BLACK-) terminal on
the receiver to the negative (BLACK-) terminal on the speaker. To connect the wire to
the speaker, completely push the appropriate terminal in, and insert the wire through
the hole that appears on the terminal. Release the terminal and the internal springs
will hold the wire in place. Repeat for the other terminal.

NOTE: If you inadvertently reverse one of the connections (i.e, red to black), you will notice
a severe lack of bass from your system. This is called wiring the system “Out of Phase”. If
this occurs, check the wiring and re-connect as necessary.

NOTE: To connect the EAS-6Cst you must repeat the connection procedure for both left and
right channels on one EAS-6Cst speaker. This speaker has dual input terminals providing
sound for both the left and right channels of your amplifier or receiver.

In Ceiling Models: (EAS-6C, EAS-8C, EAS-6Cst)

6) Insert the entire speaker into the hole, and using a Philips screwdriver, tighten the
screws attached to the dog clamps until firm. DO NO

In Wall Models: (EAS-6W)

7) NOTE: Before installing the EAS-6W, set the two position switch on the rear of the
speaker to either the 0 dB or the +3db position.The zero position maintains a flat,
even frequency response, while the +3db position will increase the sound output to
the tweeter. The +3dB position is to be used in rooms with excessive sound absorption
material such as thick carpet, drapes, couches, etc.

8) The EAS-6W speaker installs in two stages. First remove the speaker from the bezel,
by removing the 6 screws found on the front of the speaker. Once the screws are
removed, separate the bezel from the baffle.

9) Insert the speaker bezel into the hole, and using a Philips screwdriver, tighten the
screws attached to the dog clamps until firm. DO NO

10) Once the bezel is installed, install the speaker into the mounting bezel and using a
Philips screwdriver, tighten the screws until firm. DO NO

PAINTING THE BEZEL AND GRILLE

If you wish, you can paint the speaker bezel and grille to match the décor and design of
your home.

1) For the in wall model, simply separate the bezel from the speaker baffle and paint the
bezel, before you install the speaker portion.The grille is easily separated and can be
painted on its own.

2) For the in ceiling models, use the wall template as a paint mask. Carefully cut the
marked line on the template to create a template that fits inside the bezel, designed to
help facilitate painting. Insert the paint mask, paint the bezel, and then remove the
mask when the paint is dry.

NOTE: If you paint the speaker grilles, ensure that the holes are still open allowing sound to
come through. If any holes become filled with paint, find a small sharp tool and carefully
remove the paint before completing the installation.

FINE TUNING THE SPEAKERS

To fine tune the speakers, you can adjust the angle of the tweeter slightly to direct the
sound towards the seating positions.This option is offered in order to compensate for poor
mounting locations.

Caution: Be extremely careful when adjusting the tweeter as it is very easy to touch the
tweeter, and cause permanent damage which is not covered under the manufacturers
warranty. Do not touch the tweeter in any way.

PÉRIODE DE RODAGE

Nous vous recommandons fortement de résister à la tentation de faire fonctionner
immédiatement les enceintes Energy Speaker Systems à leur pleine puissance. Le
processus est tout simple : mettez votre lecteur de disques compacts en mode répétition et
faites jouer un CD avec une dynamique étendue et à un niveau d’écoute moyen, durant une
période de 50 à 100 heures environ.

AMPLIFICATEURS RECOMMANDÉS

Toutes les enceintes de Energy Speaker Systems sont conçues pour démontrer une
très grande efficacité. Tous les modèles sont compatibles avec une impédance de 8 ohms,
permettant ainsi leur raccordement à presque n’importe quel amplificateur ou récepteur. La
plupart des amplificateurs avec une puissance nominale de 20 W à 100 W par canal seront
ainsi en mesure de prendre en charge les enceintes de Energy Speaker Systems.

Mise en garde : Lorsqu’un amplificateur est surchargé, la distorsion résultante est en fait
plusieurs fois plus élevée que sa puissance nominale. Cette distorsion, appelée écrêtage, est
facilement identifiable par le son flou et distordu produit, et peut irrémédiablement
endommager un haut-parleur. La commande de volume sur la grande majorité des
amplificateurs et récepteurs est de type logarithmique, ce qui signifie que la puissance
maximale peut être atteinte même lorsque la commande est en position médiane. Les effets
combinés du réglage du compensateur physiologique et des commandes de tonalité – graves
et aigus – peuvent amener la puissance de sortie bien au-dessus des niveaux nominaux.
Aussi, la garantie sur les enceintes sera-t-elle nulle dans l’éventualité où les bobines mobiles
seraient brûlées ou endommagées en raison d’une surcharge ou d’un écrêtage.

fins de réparation. Tout appareil qui est expédié par l'utilisateur dans un emballage autre
que celui d'origine et qui serait reçu endommagé, sera réparé, remis en état et emballé
pour expédition aux frais de l'utilisateur.

INSTALLATION

NOTA : Si vous êtes incapable d’installer les enceintes vous-même, veuillez communiquer
avec un installateur agréé ou un revendeur des enceintes Energy Speaker Systems

Mise en garde : Afin de prévenir tout risque de les endommager, coupez le contact sur tous
les appareils de la chaîne avant de raccorder les enceintes.

Marche à suivre

1) Déterminez l’emplacement des enceintes. Une bonne planification du positionnement
des enceintes est cruciale. Il importe que le mur ou le plafond soit exempt de débris,
d’humidité, de matériaux d’isolation et de tout matériau inflammable. L’endroit choisi
doit également être libre de tout montant ou d’entretoisement dans l’espace de
découpure. Il est également important que la profondeur soit suffisante pour une
installation affleurante. Si vous ne connaissez pas le contenu du mur ou du plafond
dans lequel vous voulez installer les enceintes, percez un petit trou, insérez-y
l’extrémité d’un cintre et tournez-la pour vérifier la présence de débris ou de montants.

2) Après avoir déterminé l’emplacement, utilisez le gabarit fourni pour marquer l’aire de
découpe sur le mur ou le plafond selon le modèle que vous avez acheté. Pour marquer
les lignes de coupe, tracez tout simplement le profil du gabarit avec un crayon mine.

3) Au moyen d’un outil à découper approprié, découpez le trou en suivant la ligne tracée.

4) Installez le(s) fil(s) de l’enceinte connectés au récepteur ou à l’amplificateur à l’intérieur
du mur ou du plafond en prenant soin qu’il(s) soit(ent) assez long(s) pour pendre du
trou. Il est important d’utiliser le type de fil approprié conforme au code d’électricité
de votre municipalité.

NOTA : Pour connecter le modèle EAS-6Cst, vous devrez faire courir les fils des canaux gauche
et droit vers le même trou puisque cette enceinte est munie de connecteurs d’entrée stéréo.

5) Reliez le connecteur positif (ROUGE +) du récepteur au connecteur positif (ROUGE +)
de l’enceinte. Ensuite, reliez le connecteur négatif (NOIR -) du récepteur au connecteur
négatif (NOIR -) de l’enceinte. Pour connecter le fil à l’enceinte, appuyez sur la borne
et insérez le fil dans le trou de la borne. Relâchez ensuite la borne ; les ressorts qui se
trouvent dans la borne retiennent le fil en place. Suivez les mêmes étapes pour la
connexion à l’autre borne.

NOTA : Si les connexions devaient être inversées (par exemple, rouge avec noir), le rendu
dans le grave sera déficient. Une telle connexion est dite « en opposition de phase ».
Dans une telle éventualité, vérifiez les connexions et, au besoin, refaites-les.

NOTA : Pour connecter le modèle EAS-6Cst, il est nécessaire de faire les connexions des
canaux gauche et droit sur une même enceinte EAS-6Cst. Cette enceinte est munie de deux
bornes d’entrée pour la prise en charge des canaux droit et gauche de votre récepteur ou
amplificateur.

6) Introduisez toute l’enceinte dans le trou et, au moyen d’un tournevis Philips, serrez les
vis des serre-fils. NE P

7) NOTA :Avant d’installer l’enceinte EAS-6W, réglez le commutateur à deux positions,situé
sur le panneau arrière de l’enceinte, sur la position 0 dB ou +3db position. La position 0
dB maintient une réponse en fréquence linéaire, uniforme, tandis que la position +3 dB
accentue la réponse en haute fréquence. La position +3dB devrait être utilisée dans les
pièces où se trouvent une grande quantité de matériaux absorbant le son tels que tapis
épais, rideaux, fauteuils, etc.

8) Le modèle EAS-6W doit être installé en deux étapes. Dans un premier temps, dégagez
l’enceinte de son cadre en retirant les six vis situées sur le devant de l’enceinte. Après
avoir retiré les vis, séparez le cadre de l’écran acoustique.

9) Introduisez le cadre de l’enceinte dans le trou puis, au moyen d’une tournevis Philips,
serrez les vis des serre-fils. NE P

tournevis Philips, serrez les vis. NE P

PEINTURE DU CADRE ET DE LA GRILLE

Il est possible de peinturer le cadre et la grille pour les marier au décor de la pièce.

1) Pour le modèle mural, séparez le cadre de l’écran acoustique et peinturez-le avant
d’installer l’enceinte. Comme la grille s’enlève aisément, elle pourra être peinturée
séparément.

2) Pour les modèles à suspendre, utilisez le gabarit mural comme masque. Découpez
soigneusement le long de la ligne sur le gabarit pour créer un masque pouvant
s’installer dans le cadre. Installez le masque, peinturez le cadre, puis une fois la
peinture sèche, retirez le masque.

NOTA : Si vous peinturez les grilles, assurez-vous que les trous demeurent ouverts de
manière à laisser passer le son. Si des trous devaient être obstrués par la peinture, retirez
la peinture au moyen d’un objet effilé avant de terminer l’installation.

RÉGLAGE FIN DES ENCEINTES

Il est possible de régler l’orientation du haut-parleur des aigus de manière à diriger le son
vers la position d’écoute. Cette possibilité est offerte pour compenser les compromis parfois
nécessaires lors du choix de l’emplacement des enceintes.

Mise en garde Prenez soin à ne pas toucher le haut-parleur des aigus lorsque que vous en
modifiez l’orientation. Tout contact avec le haut-parleur pourrait l’endommager ; de tels
dommages ne sont pas couverts par la garantie. Évitez de toucher le haut-parleur des aigus.
