Application
The Commubox FXA195 connects intrinsically safe
Smart transmitters with HART protocol to the USB port
of a personal computer. This makes the remote operation
of the transmitters possible with the aid of the
Endress+Hauser ToF Tool - Fieldtool Package, FieldCare
and ReadWin operating programs.
Power is supplied to the Commubox by means of the
USB port.

Note!
The communication resistor (270 Ω) integrated in Commubox should not be connected in parallel to a power
supply point greater than 15 V. If the communication resistor is used, it should always be looped into the
4...20 mA circuit.
Note!
Prior to initially commissioning Commubox with the operating program (ToF Tool - Fieldtool Package,
FieldCare, ReadWin or Commuwin), the appropriate drivers must be installed from the CD-ROM supplied (list
of the Endress+Hauser operating programs and versions see Page 4).

Scope of deliveryA CD-ROM with the following programs is supplied with Commubox FXA195:
• USB drivers - these are automatically installed by means of hardware detection. For an example for
installation on Windows 2000, see "Installing the USB driver" onPage 4-8.
• PreInstaller - you can use this program to install the USB drivers manually. To do so, you must first start
the program from the CD-ROM, follow the installation instructions and then connect the Commubox to
the personal computer.
• ComPortFinder - this program helps you find out which virtual COM port the USB port was set to. To do
so, simply start the program from the CD-ROM.
Installing the USB driverNote!
Please note that you require Administrator rights if installing on Windows 2000 and Windows XP!
The following are sample instructions for Windows 2000
1.Insert the "Commubox driver CD-ROM" into the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
2.Connect Commubox FXA195 to a free USB port of the computer.
