Emerson FIELDVUE™ Performance Diagnostics
Diagnose Your Control Valves In-Service
Success in today’s competitive environment requires safe and reliable equipment performance. FIELDVUE™ Performance Diagnostics can detect issues and provide recommendations for correcting conditions that could lead to unplanned shutdowns. Valves are notorious for friction and dead band problems that add variability and cost you money. Performance Diagnostics will help unveil conditions so you can maximize throughput and make sound predictive maintenance decisions.

Easy Diagnostics, No Roadblocks

“I can’t shut down my process to run valve diagnostics!” Using FIELDVUE instruments,
you can diagnose, analyze, and trend valve diagnostic data while the valves are in service. You are given a real-time, accurate picture of valve health, not just numbers and graphs, all without impacting your process.
“I can’t sit at my computer all day watching the valves!” The Triggered Profile diagnostic watches
your valves, even when you’re not. Schedule it to collect data automatically or when triggered by a certain event. ValveLink™ software is equipped with an Event Messenger feature that can alert you when a trigger condition is detected.
“Even if I can get the diagnostic information, I don’t know what the curves mean!” Know the condition
of your valve at a glance by checking the “green, yellow, red light” feature in ValveLink software. Green, yellow, and red light symbols designate the level of importance. Recommended actions are also provided.
n Green light - OK n Yellow light - Needs maintenance soon n Red light - Maintenance required
ValveLink software includes:
n ValveLink Solo n AMS ValveLink SNAP-ON n ValveLink Mobile n ValveLink DTM n ValveLink PLUG-IN for PRM
®
Detect actuator tubing, diaphragm, and piston seal leaks with the Performance Diagnostics Air Mass Flow Test. The yellow light indicates a leak that needs attention, for instance.

Unmatched FIELDVUE Diagnostics

FIELDVUE Performance Diagnostics include:
n PD One Button n Valve Friction n On-line valve and device alerts n On-line trending of critical valves n Partial Stroke for Safety Instrumented
System (SIS) Solutions
These diagnostics can be scheduled as the system allows or anytime with the 475 field communicator.

Get FIELDVUE Diagnostics

To use Performance Diagnostics on any valve you need two things: (1) a FIELDVUE instrument with Performance Diagnostics level and (2) ValveLink software.
You may purchase new FIELDVUE digital valve controllers with Performance Diagnostics or upgrade existing instruments to include Performance Diagnostics. Your local Emerson sales contact can provide a simple Instrument StepUp. In most cases, there are no hardware changes to the instrument and the upgrade can be done on-line while the process is running.
Contact your local Emerson sales office for a Performance Diagnostics demonstration. Their highly skilled and experienced applications personnel are ready to help you take advantage of the many benefits of FIELDVUE Performance Diagnostics.
The software will
document

test results in a
preformatted Microsoft®
Word report.
On-line Performance Diagnostics tests can detect more than 200 fault conditions and provide recommended actions while the control valve remains in service. Here are a few examples where Performance

Diagnostics can detect problems before they adversely impact your process:
Detected Problem Performance Diagnostics Test
Valve blockage or binding Valve friction calculated and trended on-line
Broken or loose linkages Deadband calculated and trended on-line
Dirty instrument air I/P and relay integrity test
As a core component in the PlantWeb™ digital plant architecture, Fisher valves and FIELDVUE digital valve controllers give you the power to deliver flow control accuracy of less than 0.25%!
