Remote Control

Remote Control Applications

The Remote Control comes with three multimedia softwares: WinDVR, WinDVD, and WinRip. These softwares use only one remote control; the
function of each buttons will vary on different software.
DVR Mode Button - Press the DVR button if
you want to use the WinDVR software. “WinDVR” gives you high-quality digital recording of your favorite TV shows on your PC.
DVD Mode Button - Press the DVD button if
you want to use the WinDVD software. “WinDVD” uses the power of your PC to bring DVDs to life.
Music/Audio DJ Mode Button
Under Windows environment – Pressing this button will launch the InterVideo “WinRIP” application to play your favorite music.
Under DOS mode – When the system is power off and on AC mode, pressing this button will automatically open the audio application to listen to your favorite music.

WinDVR Cable Connection

Your notebook supports three video standard namely: NTSC, PAL and SECAM. Ask your local dealer on the type of standard being used in your respective country of origin.
Remove the cover on the cable TV connector at the rear of the
computer with the aid of a screw driver.
Connect one end of the cable wire to the RF connector of the
computer while the other end is connected to the wall socket or directly to the antenna.

Defining the Video Source

Select the PAL, NTSC or SECAM, depending on which standard the selected source is using. The factory default is the standard used by your purchase country, and normally there is no need to change this setting.
If you are working outside your country, you are required to adjust the setting of our video source. From the WinDVR window, click on your mouse right button and select the “Setup” item.
From the “Setup” dialog window, click on the “Standard” selection items and drag down the arrow to select on the type of TV standard based on your respective country of origin.

TV - Launch the WinDVR application
Channel Surfing - Surf channels by displaying 16 channels at once.
Full screen - Change display size to full screen.
Mute - Mute or restore sound when watching TV.
C.C. (Close Caption) - Display overlay text caption.
MTS/SAP - Switch TV sound mode to mono stereo or SAP
Scan (Auto scan) - Scans all available channels for context.
Arrow Up and Down - Navigates up or down.
Arrow Left and Right - Navigates left
or right.
Cancel - Cancel last operation.
Select - Right-click menu for selection.
CH Up & Down - Selects next higher or
lower channel in channel memory.
Replay - Playback recorded program
from the list.
Skip - Skip commercial.
Volume (Volume up and down) -
Increase and decrease sound.
Stop - Stops functions such as record,
play, rewind, forward and pause.
Play/Pause - Plays or pauses a scene.
Record - Records TV and encodes it
into MPEG I/II format.
TimeShift - Pauses live TV.
Real Screen (Go Live) - Return to the
current time of the program.
Snapshot - Captures a favorite screen
shots from the program.
Numeric Keypad (0-9) - Select a
channel up to 99 by pressing two numbers.

DVD - Launch the WinDVD application.
Audio Selection - Selects a language.
Subtitle - Activates language subtitles.
Full screen - Change display size to full screen.
Angle (Angle Selection) - Allows multiple angle viewing
Mute - Mute or restore sound when watching CD title or MPEG file.
Arrow Up and Down - Navigates up or down.
Arrow Left and Right - Navigates left or right.
Cancel - Cancel last operation.
Select - Right-click menu for selection.
Speed - Speed up the play.
CHAPTER (Previous & Next) - Selects
previous or next chapter.
Volume (Volume up and down) -
Increase and decrease sound.
REW - Play disc in fast reverse mode.
FWD - Play disc in fast forward mode.
Stop - Stops the current play.
Play/Pause - Starts or pause the disc.
Step Forward Single frame advance
while in pause mode.
Bookmark - Instantly mark your favorite
scene.
Menu - Opens DVD title main menu.
SnapShot - Captures still images of
current playback.

NOTE: Please take note that when you are playing the DVD
applicaton, you will only be able to use the Remote Control DVD button if your system support the InterVideo WinCinema application. If your system support the WinXPMCE application, you will have to use the “Microsoft Remote Control” that comes with your package. To choose between these two applications, please proceed to BIOS Setup and select the “Advanced” menu. From the “Shortcut Key Working With” selection item, select the “InterVideo” if your system only support the ”InterVideo” application or the “WinXP MCE” application if your system support the Microsoft’s WinXP MCE application.

Music - Launch the WinRIP application.
DSP Toggle – Let you enable or disable
the DSP window when the WinRIP application is launched.
Mute - Mute or restore sound when
playing music.
Arrow Up and Down - Navigates up or
down.

Cancel - Cancel last operation.
Select - Right-click menu for selection.

Audio DJ - Launch the Audio DJ application when the system is off.
Mute - Mute or restore sound when
listening audio DJ.

Stop - Stop the recording.
Play/Pause - Play or pause a music
track.

WinDVR Control Panel

The WinDVR control panel is designed to look like controls on a VCR. Keep in mind that not all options are available at all times, and may be grayed out or inaccessible depending on your hardware setup and TV services availability.

Teletext –The teletext feature enables one-way transfer of huge files of information, when available. This feature may only work with certain broadcasts using the PAL video standard. Surfing - Browse thumbnail images of available channels Schedule - Open window for scheduling recordings, or reminders for program times Video Source – Select Composite Video, S-Video or TV Tuner as the video source TV Audio – Select stereo, SAP or mono as your audio source. Changing your Settings

To change any properties or features of WinDVR:
Click (the Setup icon). The Properties window will appear. 1.

Select property page you want to change.
Channels properties - allows you to customize and configure your TV channels. WinDVR can automatically scan your cable or antenna signal for available channels. Here you can label and identify your favorite channels, as well as include or exclude channels from the channel surfing list.

Display properties - allows you to configure the way WinDVR displays video.
TV properties - allows you to configure the specifications of your TV tuner and TV audio settings.
Record properties - allows you to configure the video and audio input devices you want to use with WinDVR. This page also allows you to set the recording quality.
Storage properties - allows you to assign the amount of space and location, for storing recorded programs and captured still images.
Timeshifting properties - allows you to configure the
Timeshifting mode.

If you are unsure about what a particular property means, see the online help for that property page. You can change these properties at any time. You may need to change certain pages first, before features on other pages become available.

WinDVD Control Panel

Use the main control panel to start, stop, pause, and view information about the currently playing disc.
The table on the next page describes the button controls on the WinDVD control panel are used for.

Time Stretching

To use the time-stretching feature:
Use the time-stretch button to control how
much stretching or compressing should be done.
Press the Rabbit button to speed up playback.
Press the Turtle button to slow down playback.
NOTE: In order to ensure that the audio is not affected, the maximum
and minimum speed is set to 2X and 0.5X, respectively.
Time-stretching can be increased and decreased in the increments shown below.
Play Speed Settings: 0.5, 0.55, 0.6, 0.65, 0.7, 0.75, 0.8, 0.85, 0.9, 0.95, 1.0, 1.05,
1.1, 1.15, 1.2, 1.25, 1.3, 1.5, 1.75, and 2.0

Bookmarks

Bookmarks let you instantly mark your favorite scenes and then jump to them with a click of the mouse.
Creating Bookmarks
Find the location in the movie that you want to
bookmark.
Right clicking over the Bookmark Icon and
selecting bookmark browser from this menu opens the bookmark browser.
In the Bookmark group, click the plus sign to
add a bookmark. The bookmark is given a default name based on its time into the movie. You can edit these names in the Bookmark Browser.

Deleting Bookmarks

Select the bookmark to be deleted. You can only select one
bookmark at a time.
Click Delete .

Subpanels

The Adjustment subpanels let you adjust the settings for the current movie or audio playback. To open the Adjustment subpanels, click the subpanel button at the lower right of the WinDVD Control Panel. In the menu, select the desired subpanel.
Each subpanel allows you to conveniently adjust the audio, video, or other enhancements appropriate for the current content.
The various subpanels are accessible by selecting the desired option from the menu.
Navigation subpanel lets you move easily through a DVD disc.
Language subpanel lets you set the language options for a DVD title.
Display subpanel allows you to set up the system exactly the way
you want it. Using TV-like controls these settings let you fine-tune your video.
Color subpanel allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast, color,
hue and gamma correction
Audio Effect subpanel adjusts the sound to fit your listening
conditions and personal taste.
Audio SRS subpanel available only on the retail version of WinDVD.

It allows you to take advantage of SRS Labs plugins.
Audio Mode subpanel allows you to set up the system exactly the
way you want it.

Playing Video CDs

To play a VCD, insert the disc into the drive. If you have Autoplay enabled, the disc will start playing immediately.
You can also play from the source menu to view a title. From this menu, you can open a file playlist or DVD file from a folder. You can also create a new playlist. The lasted view files and folder are also displayed in the drop-down menu.
NOTE: You can play MPEG IV files by installing DIVX® software.

WinRIP

WinRip is a state-of-the-art software application that provides you with a complete audio playback and recording environment.
WinRip contains two user interface presentation modes: Player Mode and Jukebox Mode. Each mode has its own set of features, though some are also common between the two modes.

Player Mode

The Player Mode interface is a compact program for general playback of music files. The Player Mode program includes a display area where information on the current play status is shown, and a control area which holds the transport controls and buttons to control the playback of your audio.

Player Window

Player Mode also supports different Skins (refer to Skins section for details) which change the shape, color, and general design of the program.
Below is a screen shot of the default WinRip Skin.

Play Controls

Selecting Playback from the Player Mode right-click menu displays a sub-menu containing the following options:

Playlist Window

Selecting the Playlist option opens the Playlist Window. This window displays the track numbers, track title and time duration of each track in the current Playlist.
The “Seek” hot-key on your remote control allows you to manually search music from PC drives.
Use the up and down arrows to select the directory and the left and
right arrows to enter the sub-directory
Press “Select” hot-key on your remote control to add music to the
playlist

DSP/Visual Window

The DSP display is located on the right side of the main Player Mode window.
The DSP window can be opened and closed by clicking the DSP/Visual icon between the Player Mode window and the DSP window.

Skins

A Skin is a different user interface that can be used with the WinRip PlayerMode, the PlayerMode has various Skins that can be used.
Selecting Skins from the PlayMode Right-Click menu displays the following options:

REMINDER: Skin Browser Alt+S - Loads the InterVideo WinRip
Skin Browser dialog box. This allows different Skins to be selected and immediately loaded.

Preferences

Selecting Preferences from the Properties pulldown menu loads the InterVideo WinRip Preferences dialog box, this dialog box contains various tabs with settings that can be set by the user, so WinRip has defaults that match the way the user works.

JukeBox Mode

The WinRip JukeBox mode gives the user the ability to Play Audio CD's and Audio files, Record Audio, Organize, Manage and Search for Audio tracks with WinRip's Playlist and Music Gallery features.

Import Wizard

The Import Wizard is accessed from the Music Gallery and allows the user to search and load the all supported Media files.

Recording from an Audio CD

Insert the Audio CD
There are various methods to start the Recording
Right-Click on the desired track and select Record from the shortcut
menu
Select the relevant track and then click the Record icon in the toolbar
Select the relevant track and then select Record from the Playback
pull-down menu
Creating a new Playlist
A new Playlist in Jukebox Mode can be created from one of the following methods:
The New Playlist icon in the JukeBox toolbar. Selecting this icon
loads the New Playlist dialog box, this allows you to enter a name for the new playlist, selecting OK creates a new playlist with the name you entered. If you enter a playlist name that already exists, Win Rip will show the warning dialog box and return you to the New Playlist dialog box to enter a playlist name that does not already exist.
From the Audio CD Player/Encoder or Music Gallery track list, right-
click on the track listing and select Add to playlist and then the New Playlist option to load the New Playlist dialog box.

Using IDI (InterVideo data Injection) Feature

InterVideo's Data Injection technology allows WinRip encoded MP3 files users to "watch" their MP3 files. Users can have the song lyrics or other messages display along with the song, and special versions of WinRip are available to recording artists who want to add web pages and linked content to their music.
The track listing in the Music Gallery contains an IDI column which displays whether IDI content exists within MP3 files.
IDI Editor
The IDI (InterVideo Data Injection) Editor allows text to be injected in *.wav and *.mp3 files for display in the Snapin area at a specified time. The IDI editor is
accessed from the IDI Editor
icon in the JukeBox Toolbar.
Snapin Area
The WinRip Snapin Area is the main window within the JukeBox mode, this area will vary depending on the Shortcut menu selected, and displays information on the selected feature, Track listings, Track information, PlayLists, Music Gallery, Mixer, Global Music, etc.

In the Capture pane, click the thumbnail of the desired recording device.
The control panel that appears includes buttons that provide the same functions as those found on your recording device.
You may use the buttons to configure your device and control it while it is connected to your computer and is turned on.
In the Preview window, click

Breaking Up Video Clips
Click
If necessary, open the Video Library by clicking in the Editing pane.
In the Video Library, right-click the video clip you want to break up. You may need to scroll up or down in the Editing pane or resize it before the desired clip comes into view.
Do one of the following:
From the shortcut menu that appears, choose Generate Scene Cuts.
Click in the Editing pane.

Adding Themes

Add a theme to your movie if you want viewers to be able to use an online table of contents to quickly jump to specific locations in your movie.
Refer to the online help on how to add a theme.

Modifying Chapter Lists

WinDVD Creator Plus uses a theme chapter list to create an online table of contents for your movie. Refer to the online help on how to modify a chapter list.

Opening the Disc Manager

Use the Disc Manager to directly edit the content of your DVD without having to render it on the hard drive.

To open the Disc Manager:

The Disc Manager Window will open up with four different functions:
Video Library: The Video Library is where you can import your video
files.
Capture: WinDVD Creator Plus allows you to capture video files
using a DV device, Capture Card, or Web Camera.
Tools: In the Tools section, you can choose to either defragment or

format your DVD.
Authoring: You can use edit your chapter menu with the Authoring
function.

Direct Recording

WinDVD Creator Plus includes a wizard that takes you step by step through the process of saving your work in the VCD, SVCD, DVD, or VR format. When saving your work, you have the option of:

Direct Burning

To enable this feature, you should either have a DVD+RW/DVD-RW/DVD­RAM device. Use the Direct Burning to burn your movie directly to your DVD+RW/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM disc.

Burning your movie to DVD:

The Direct Burning will automatically check if you have DVD+RW/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM device available.

Press Capture.

Choose the movie/program source (e.g. TV, S-Video in, AV-in).

If you choose TV, select the channel and TV program you want to burn.

program source currently showing in the display window.
Press the button to stop recording. 7.
NOTE: Channels could be shown incorrectly when using WinDVD
Creator Plus in some area even in normal operation. If this happens, we recommend that you use WinDVR to prevent this problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.
