How to check if a PROBE is working or not

All appliances. The display doesn’t show any temperature or a wrong
temperature. The probe is bad connected or out of service

All the appliances are tested at the end of the product line before packaging.

The service should be able to do a quick diagnostic and understand if the probe has faulted or not (
see details below).

electrical box; check if the dgt (or electronic) control has a good connection to the power supply
bad connection
check the resistance () of the probe with a multimeter (values according to the amb.temp. -see the attached table-)
W H A T T O D O
check the connection between the probe and the connector of the dgt (or electronic) control: if the terminal wirings of the probe aren't well insulated and properly connected, a short-circuit can happen
R E A S O N
probe miscalibrated, open-circuit in probe
check the position of the probe; check if the real probe position is according to its label (def=defrost=evaporator; cell=inside the cell; cond=condenser; etc.)
short-circuit in probe wrong installation

When ambient temperature is around 25°C, a good (10K Semitec 103AT) probe should have a resistance around 10 k, it means that the multimeter has to show a value of about 9÷11 k (according to the resolution of the instrument and to the real ambient temperature).
