USING YOUR DYSON HANDHELD VACUUM
CAUTIO N:
• Do not allow the Dyso n handhel d vacuum to be u sed by anyone who may no t be
able to operate it safely.
• Take caution n ot to engag e the silver batte ry release but ton during
normal operation.
• Dirt an d debris ma y be relea sed from the Dyson h andheld vacuum if it is turned
upside do wn. Ensure t he Dyson handheld vacuum remains upright in use.
• Do not ope rate the D yson han dheld vacu um while che cking for blockage s.
• Do not use outdoors or on wet sur faces o r to vacuum water or othe r liquids –
elect ric shock c ould occur.
• Do not lubricate any p arts, or carry out any maintenance or re pair work other
than tha t shown in this Dyson Operating Manual, or advised by t he Dyson
Custom er Care Helpline.
PLEA SE NOTE:
• This Dyson handheld vacuum is designed for domes tic indoor and car use only.
Do not use it whilst th e car is in motion or while driving.
• Do not use t he Dyson handheld v acuum to pick-up sharp ha rd objects, small
toys, pins, paper clip s, etc. The y may damage the Dys on handhe ld vacuum.
• Do not press down on th e nozzle with exces sive force w hen using t he Dyson
handheld vacuum as this may caus e damage.
• If the motor overheats, the D yson handheld vacuum will cut out automat ically.
Leave it to cool for at least an hour and check for blockages bef ore restarting.
• Fine dir t such as flo ur or plaster dust should only b e vacuume d in very
small amounts.
• Before vacuuming highly polis hed floo rs, firs t check that the unde rside of th e
floor to ol and its br istles a re free fro m foreign ob jects t hat could c ause mark ing.
• Consult your floor ing manu factur er’s rec ommended inst ructio ns befor e
vacuum ing and ca ring for yo ur floor ing, rugs, and car pet. The brush
bar on the Dyson handheld v acuum ca n damage certa in carpe t type s
and floors. Som e carpe ts will fuz z if a rotating brush bar is used when
vacuum ing. If th is happe ns, we rec ommend v acuuming without the
motorh ead and c onsulti ng with your floori ng manuf acture r.
• Do not use any lubricants, cleaning agent s, polishes or air fresheners o n any
part of t he Dyso n handheld vacuum or charger.
• This Dyson handheld vacuum is fitte d with a thermal cut- out. If any pa rt of the
Dyson h andheld vacuum bec omes blocked the machine may ove rheat an d
automa tically shut off. If this happens, switch ‘OFF’ the D yson handheld
vacuum and allow to cool b efore at tempting to check t he filter or for blockages.
Clear any b lockages before restarting (see pa ges 4 and 8).
• Store the Dyson handheld vacuum indoo rs. Do not us e or store this Dyson
handheld vacuum be low 3°C . Ensure th at the Dyson handheld vacuum is at
room temp erature before op erating.
TROUBLESHOOTING – DYSON HANDHELD VACUUM
Charged.
Flashing light - less t han one minu te of charge remaining /
fully discharged.
Rapidly f lashing light - too cold /too hot. Do not use.
Filter missing/f ilter fitted inc orrectly.
EMPTYING THE CLEAR BIN
CAUTIO N:
• Switch ‘O FF’ the D yson handheld vacuum and disconnect from charger before
emptying the clear bin.
• Empty a s soon as the dirt rea ches the level of the M AX mark – do not overfill.
• To release the dirt, push the red button at th e side of the clear bin as shown.
• To minimise dus t/allergen co ntact when empt ying, enc ase the cle ar bin tightly
in a plast ic bag and em pty. Remov e the clear b in carefully and seal b ag tightl y,
dispose as normal.
PLEA SE NOTE:
• Do not use t he Dyson handheld v acuum without the cl ear bin in pla ce.
CLEANING THE CLEAR BIN
CAUTIO N:
To remove the cle ar bin, push th e red but ton at the si de of the cle ar bin as you
would when empty ing the cle ar bin. The n press the red relea se butt on on the
unders ide of the Dyson hand held vacuum as shown on p age 4.
• Clean the clear bin with cold wat er only.
• Ensure th e clear bin is completely dry before repl acing.
PLEA SE NOTE:
• Do not use d etergents, polishes or air freshener s to clean the clear bin.
• Do not put t he clear bin in a dishwash er.
• Clean the shroud wit h a cloth or dr y brush to remove lint an d dirt.
WASHING YOUR FILTER
CAUTIO N:
• Switch ‘O FF’ and dis connec t from charger before removing the filte r.
• Wash the filter with c old water o nly.
PLEA SE NOTE:
• This Dyson handheld vacuum h as one filt er, located as s hown. It is important to
check your filter and wash with cold water regularl y or as requir ed to maintain
perf ormance. The filter may require more fre quent was hing if vacuuming fine
dust or if u sed mainly in ‘MIN’ power mode.
• Afte r washing please leave for 12 hours to dr y completely.
• Ensure filter is com pletely d ry before refit ting to the Dyson ha ndheld vacuum.
• Do not use d etergents to clean the filte r.
• Do not put t he filter in a dishwash er, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven,
microwave or near an op en flame.
LOOKING FOR BLOCKAGES
CAUTIO N:
• Switch ‘O FF’ the D yson handheld vacuum and disconnect from charger before
looking for blockages. Failure to do so could result in personal in jury.
• Beware of sharp objects wh en clearing blockag es.
• Refit all parts o f the Dyson handheld vacuum se curely be fore using.

limited guarantee.
• If any par t of the Dy son handh eld vacuum become s blocked, it m ay overhe at

CLEARING BRUSH BAR OBSTRUCTIONS
CAUTIO N:
• Switch ‘O FF’ the D yson handheld vacuum and disconnect from charger before
clearin g brush ba r obstru ctions . Failure to do s o could result in personal injur y.
If your brush bar is obstruc ted, it may shut off. If t his happe ns you will ne ed to
remove the brush bar a s shown and c lear any obstructing debr is.
• Remove th e brush bar by using a coin to loosen th e screw mar ked with a key.
Remove th e obstruction. R eplace th e brush bar and secure it by tightening the
screw. Ensure it is fixe d firmly b efore ope rating th e Dyson handheld va cuum.
• Beware of sharp objects wh en clearing blockag es.
• Refit all parts o f the Dyson handheld vacuum se curely be fore using.

CHARGING AND STORING THE DYSON
HANDHELD VACUUM
• Your Dyson handheld va cuum will turn ‘OFF’ if t he batt ery temperature is
below 3 °C. This is designe d to protec t the motor and battery of yo ur produc t.
Do not charge the Dy son handheld vacuum and then move i t to an area wi th a
temper ature below 3˚C for stora ge purpo ses.
• To help prolon g batte ry life, a void recha rging imme diately a fter a full discharge.
Allow to co ol for a few minutes.
• Avoid using the Dyso n handhel d vacuum with the bat tery f lush to a sur face. This
will help it run coole r and prolon g batte ry run time and life.

BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• The Dyson handheld vacuum must be disc onnected from th e mains supp ly when
removing the bat tery.
• Use only D yson batteries and charging unit for this Dyson handheld vacuum.
• The bat tery is a sealed unit and unde r normal circumstan ces pose s no safet y
concer ns. In the un likely event that liquid leaks fro m the bat tery do n ot touch th e
liquid and o bserve the follow ing preca utions:
• Skin con tact – can c ause irri tation. Was h with soap and water.
• Inhalation – can cause respira tory irritation. Expose to fresh air a nd seek
medical advice.
• Eye cont act – can cause irrit ation. Immediate ly flush eyes thoroug hly with wa ter
for at lea st 15minutes. Seek me dical at tention.
• Disposal – wear glove s to handle t he batt ery and dispose of im mediately
following local ordinances or regulati ons.
CAUTION:
The bat tery used in this d evice may p resent a risk of fire or chemical bu rn if
mistre ated. Do not disassemble, short conta cts, heat above 60ᵒ° C,
or incinerate. Repl ace bat tery with a Dyso n battery only, use o f any other batter y
may pres ent a risk of f ire or expl osion. Dispose of use d battery prom ptly. Keep
away from children. D o not disassemble and do not dispo se of in fire.
• The bat tery must be rem oved from the Dyson h andheld vacuum bef ore it
is scrapp ed.
• The bat tery is to be dispo sed of saf ely.
• The Dyson handheld vacuum must be disc onnected from th e supply mains when
removing the bat tery.
• Batt ery can b e charged on or off th e handhel d vacuum. Take cau tion when
removing the bat tery.
