How do I Arm the System?
Enter your 4 digit code, and wait for the beeps (countdown). If you don’t hear the beep, beep,
beep, beep…. then your system is not armed. When armed, the red “Armed” light” will be on.
If you make a mistake when pressing keys on your keypad, press the [#] key and start again.
If you accidentally set off the alarm, wait two to five minutes for the central monitoring station
to call you. If your alarm system is not monitored, then no-one will call. To turn off the alarm,
do the same as when arming the alarm.
Help! My Alarm is Going off!
Enter your alarm system (4 digit) code, and it will turn off.
My alarm went off. Why?
Press *3 to determine which zone triggered the alarm. The number will light up
corresponding to the zone that was triggered.
Why is my Trouble Light on (the System Light on the PC 1555 Keypad)?
A trouble will be indicated by the Trouble light, which will remain ON until the trouble condition
is cleared. To view the type of trouble condition, press *2. One or more zone indicators will turn ON,
indicating the various trouble conditions:
ZONE INDICATOR TYPE OF TROUBLE
1 Service required. Call your installation company for service.
2 Indicates the loss of AC power. When this trouble occurs, the Trouble light will turn ON but keypad buzzer
3 Telephone line trouble.
4 The panel has failed to communicate with the central station.
5 Zone fault. Press [5], the zone indicator(s) corresponding to the faulted zones will turn ON.
6 Zone tamper. Press [6] and the zone indicator(s) corresponding to the tampered zones will turn ON.
7 Low zone battery. This trouble is generated when a wireless device exhibits a low battery condition.
8 Loss of time on system clock. To set the system time, follow the instructions in “Setting System Date and

Zone Bypassing
The zone bypassing function is used when access is needed to part of the protected area while the
system is armed.
Bypassed zones are automatically cancelled each time the system is disarmed and must be reapplied
before the next arming.
To bypass zones from an LED or Fixed Message LCD5501Z keypad:
Start with the system in the Ready state. Enter [*][1][Zone(s) to be bypassed]# E.G. To bypass zone 03,
press *103#. Then you can Arm your system as you normally do.
To add or change passwords in alarm system
Your alarm system can have multiple passwords. You can add or change a password. You can
calso change the master password.
Each password has a location number. The master password is in location 40. The others are
numbered as: 01, 02, 03…etc.
You may have already programmed in more than one password.
To see which locations currently have passwords:
*5 XXXX (XXXX is the current master password).
A light will go on next to the location number, indicating there is a access code
assigned to the location. E.G. If lights 1 and 2 are on, then there is an access code
assigned to locations 01, and 02. (There is no (easy) way of determining what the assigned access
code is for these locations.)
To change master password (which is allocated to code location 40)
*5 XXXX 40 YYYY #
(XXXX is current master password, YYYY is new master password)
To add or change secondary passwords:
*5 YYYY 01 ZZZZ #
(YYYY is master password) ZZZZ is new secondary password in allocated to code
Location 01)
To add/change multiple passwords at one time:
*5 YYYY 01 ZZZZ 02 AAAA 03 BBBB #
(YYYY is master password) ZZZZ is new secondary password in allocated to code
location 01, AAAA is new secondary password allocated to code location 02, etc.)
To erase a code:
Enter *5 YYYY (YYYY is master password), enter location number (to be deleted) 01 to 32,
Press [****] (…the asterisk key for times, then) [#] to return to the Ready state.
The Master code cannot be erased.
Setting the System Date and Time
To set the system time, enter [*][6] followed by the Master Code. Press [1]. The keypad will now accept
10 consecutive digits:
• Enter the Time in Hours and Minutes using the 24-hr format (00:00 to 23:59).
• Enter the Date in Months, Days and Years (MM DD YY).
