Before You Begin
You must have at least the following:
You will need a computer with an available USB port to connect the
DWL-G122 Wireless USB adapter .
At least a 500 MHz processor a nd 62 MB of memory
An 802.11b or 802.1 1g Access Point (for Infrastructure Mode) or another 802.
1 1b or 802.11g wireless adapter (for Ad-Hoc; Peer-to-Peer networking mode.)
Properly installed and working USB Co ntroller.

DWL-G122 Overview
USB Connector
Connects to Yours desktop or laptop computerl.
Insert the D-Link CD-ROM Into Your Computer
Link/Power LED
Link - Indicates that the DWL-G122
is properly installed in the computer. Power - blinks when data is being tran smitted through the wireless connection.
Antenna
Used to wirelessly connect to 802.11b or 802.11g networks.
Turn on the com puter and Insert the D- Link Air Puls GTM DWL-
G122 Driver CD in the CD-ROM drive.
The step-by-step instructions that follow are sh own in Windows XP. The steps and screens are similar for the other Windows operating systems
The Insta ll Screen will appear.
Click Install Drivers

Do NOT install the D WL-G122 USB Ada pter into your computer before installing the driver software on the D-Link C D!
If the CD Autorun function does not automatically start on your computer , type “D:\Driver\Setup.exe” If it does start, proceed to the next screen.
Click Next
The letter “D” represents the letter of the CD-ROM drive. Your CD-ROM drive may be a different drive l etter.

Installing the DWL-G122 Wireless USB Adapter to Your Laptop Computer
A. Make sure to turn off your com puter.
B. Insert one end of the USB Adapter into the provided
USB cable and plug the other end into your computer’s USB Port.

Restart Your Computer
When you restart your computer this Found New Hardware
Wizard (Windows XP) screen
will appear:
Select Install the software
automatically (Recommended)
Click Next
Windows XP will automatically load the driver files.
Click Continue Anyway
Click Finish

Your Installation is Complete!
After you’ve continued in Windows XP (or after the computer restarts in the other Windows opera ting systems), the D-Link AirPlus DWL-G122 Con- figuration Utility will automatically sta rt and the utility icon will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop screen (systray). If this icon
appe ars GREEN, then you have successfully installed the DWL-G122, are connected to a wireless network and are ready to communicate!
Double-click the utility icon to use the configura tion utility.

Using the Configuration Utility
A. Sta tus: Displays the
MAC Address o f the Acc ess Point that is associated with the DWL-G12 2.
D. Wireless Mod e: The factory setting is set to Infrastructure. Ad-Hoc mode is used for
peer-to-peer n etworking.
E. E ncryption: Displays the current encryption status of the wireless connection.
B. SSID: Th e Service Set Identifier
is the name assigned to the wireless network . The factory SSID setting is set to d efault.

C. Frequency:
Disp lays the current freq uency used by the adapter.
F. Connection Info:
Displays connected or authenticated information.
G. TxRate: The
default settin g is Auto; meaning, TxRate s ettings are automatically dete rmined by the DWL -G122 depen ding on the distanc e from the access po int.
H. Channel: Displays
the channel informatio n. By defau lt, the channel is se t to 6. Please note that the DWL­G1 22 will automati­cally adjust chann el depen ding on the Access Poin t.
J. Packet Count: Graphically displays the statistics of data
transmitted and rec eived.

I. Signal
Strength / Link Quality: Repre-
sen ts the wirele ss signal quality and stren gth between the access po int and the DWL­G122. The percenta ge co incides with the g raphical bar.

K. SSID: The Service Set
Iden tifier is the name as­signed to th e wireless network. The factory SSID setting is set to d efault. Make changes here to match the SSID on existing Wireless Router o r Access Point.

The factory setting is set to Infrastructure. Ad-Ho c mode is used for p eer-to-peer netw orking.
M. Data Encryption: The
defau lt setting is set to Disabled. The adapter supp orts WEP when encryptio n is enabled.
N. Authentication: You can specify
the authentic ation mode for the wireless n etwork. The default setting is set to Ope n Authentica-
tion.
P. IEEE 802.1x: When encryption is enabled, you will have the option to specify the level
and key format of the encryption used. Select the appropriate Key Index : 1-4 and enter ACS II or hexadecimal digits in the appropriate field.
O. Key Le ngth: When encryption is enabled,
you w ill have the option to specify the level and key format of th e encryption used. Select the appropriate Key Index : 1-4 and enter ACS II or hexadec imal digits in the appropriate field.
