CAUTION:

• Minimum distances around the apparatus for sufficient
ventilation.

• The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the
ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers,
table-cloths, curtains, etc..

• No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should
be placed on the apparatus.

• Moving the unit

To prevent short-circuits or damaged wires in the connection cables,
always unplug the power supply cord and disconnect the connection
cables between all other audio components when moving the unit.

• Cautions on using mobile phones

Using a mobile phone near this unit may result in noise. If so, move
the mobile phone away from this unit when using it.

• Store these instructions in a safe place.

After reading, store this instructions along with the warranty card in
a safe place.

• Note that the illustrations in these instructions may differ from
the actual unit for explanation purposes.

Mounting the universal adapter on the control dock

Mount the included universal adapter suited for your iPod®to the
control dock’s universal adapter slot.

•A genuine iPod dock adapter can be mounted on this ASD-1R.

•To connect an “iPod nano” or 5th generation iPod, use the dock
adapter included with the iPod.

•The 3rd generation iPod (with Dock Connector) requires the Apple
iPod Universal Dock Adapter 3-Pack that fits your iPod model
(separately available from Apple Computer, Inc.) in order to be
connected to the ASD-1R.

The iPod can be operated from an amplifier or system device equipped with a DOCK CONTROL
terminal connected to the ASD-1R.

Set the MODE SELECT switch on the
ASD-1R’s bottom panel to “DOCK

CONTROL”.

Connect the included AC adapter to the
ASD-1R’s

Be sure to switch the communications
mode before turning on the ASD-1R’s
power.
The communications mode will not switch
if the MODE SELECT switch is operated
while the power is on.

Connecting the ASD-1R and a device equipped with a system control
(SYSTEM CONNECTOR) terminal

The iPod can be operated using the system remote control unit equipped with system control

Functions and operation

When the ASD-1R and a device
equipped with a DOCK CONTROL
terminal are connected

• By connecting the ASD-1R and a DENON
audio device equipped with a DOCK
CONTROL terminal, it is possible to display
the iPod’s status on the connected audio
device’s on-screen display or regular display
section and operate the iPod.

• For instructions on operations, see the
operating instructions of the connected
audio device.

When the ASD-1R and a device equipped with a system control
(SYSTEM CONNECTOR) terminal are connected

• When the ASD-1R and a system device equipped with a system control (SYSTEM
CONNECTOR) terminal are connected, the iPod can be operated with the cassette deck or
CD recorder remote control buttons.

• Operate according to the setting of the MODE SELECT switch on the ASD-1R’s bottom panel.

• On some devices it is possible to adjust
the iPod’s volume, but the volume output
from the ASD-1R cannot be adjusted.

• Be careful with the volume when

listening through headphones.

• Depending on the iPod’s software version, it
may not be possible to operate the iPod
with the ASD-1R. Use the latest software
version. Check the Apple Computer website
for information on the latest software
version.

NOTE:

• Note that DENON will accept no
responsibility whatsoever for loss of or
damage to iPod data when using an iPod
connected to the ASD-1R.

Troubleshooting

If a problem should arise, first check the following.

1. Are the connections correct?

2. Have you operated the receiver according to the Operating Instructions?

If this unit is not operating properly, check the items listed in the table below. Should the problem persist, there may be a malfunction.
Disconnect the power immediately and contact your store of purchase.
