Installing the Optional Diskette Drive
CAUTION: See your System Information Guide for complete information about safety precautions,
working inside the computer, and protecting against electrostatic discharge.
NOTE: For additional information about removing system components, see the Installation
and Troubleshooting Guide.
If applicable, remove the bezel.

If applicable, unlock the bezel.

While grasping the bezel, slide it toward the key lock.

Rotate the right side of the bezel away from the front panel.

Pull the bezel away from the system.

Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical
outlet.

To remove the system cover, loosen the two captive screws at the back of the system.

While pressing down on the cover indention, slide the cover backward about an inch,
and grasp the cover on both sides.

Carefully lift the cover away from the system.
6
Align the diskette drive's mounting holes with the retaining pins on the hard drive 1 bracket.
See Figure 1-1.

Rotate the drive downward until it snaps into place.

Connect the interface cable.

NOTE: Ensure that the interface cable is properly inserted into the connectors of the control panel
and diskette drive. Visually check the cable connection by ensuring that the cable contacts are
even across the length of the connector.

Connect the end of the interface cable labeled FD to the diskette drive.

Connect the other end of the interface cable to the control panel FDD cable connector.

Place the cover over the sides of the chassis, and slide the cover forward until it snaps
into place.

Tighten the two captive screws at the back of the system to secure the cover.

Reconnect the system to the electrical outlet, and turn on the system.

If applicable, replace the bezel.

Align the hole in the left-side bezel securing tab with the tab on the front panel.

While rotating the bezel toward the front panel, slide the bezel toward the key lock
until the bezel snaps into place.

Installation du lecteur de disquette en option

Retirez le cache, le cas échéant.

Déverrouillez le cache, si nécessaire.

Mettez le système hors tension, y compris les périphériques qui lui sont connectés,
puis débranchez-le du secteur.

Pour retirer le capot du système, dévissez les deux vis captives à l'arrière du système.

Appuyez vers le bas sur l’indentation du capot, faites-le glisser vers l’arrière d’environ
deux centimètres, et prenez-le par les deux côtés.

Dégagez avec précaution le capot du système.

Alignez les trous du lecteur de disquette avec les plots de retenue du support du disque dur 1.

Faites pivoter le disque vers le bas jusqu’à ce qu’il s’enclenche en place.

Branchez le câble d’interface.

REMARQUE : assurez-vous que le câble d'interface est fermement inséré dans le connecteur du
lecteur de disquette et celui du panneau de contrôle. Pour cela, vérifiez que le connecteur du câble
est inséré à fond, sur toute sa largeur, et n’est pas écarté d’un côté ou de l’autre.
Branchez l’extrémité du câble d'interface (repérée par la mention FD) au connecteur

Branchez l'autre extrémité du câble d’interface au connecteur du panneau de contrôle
repéré par la mention FDD.
