1. Safety

Warning: When using this machine, theincluded safety instructions should always be followed to avoid risk of
fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Read theentire instruction manual before using themachine and keep it
for future reference. Always pull theplug out of thewall socket before servicing and adjusting themachine.

1.1 General safety instructions for your safety and the safety of others

1. Keep theworking area tidy.

Cluttered surfaces and benches invite accidents.

2. Do not use themachine in dangerous environments.

Themachine should not be used on moist or wet surfaces or in rain. Make sure that thework area is well lit.
When working in dusty atmospheres, make sure that theair is adequately circulated. Do not operate electric
machinery in explosive atmospheres, such as in thepresence of flammable liquids, gases or dust.

3. Reduce therisk of electric shocks.

Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators
when using electric machinery.

4. Keep children and bystanders away.

Keep children and visitors at asafe distance from electric machinery and electric cables in theworkplace.

5. Store electric machinery out of thereach of children.

When not in use, electric machinery/tools should be stored locked away in asafe place, away from children.

6. Do not force themachine.

Thecorrect feed rate makes thework better and safer.

7. Use thecorrect tool for thejob.

Do not force atool to perform atask that it was not designed for.

8. Wear suitable attire.

Do not wear any loose-fitting clothing, gloves, necklaces, bracelets or other jewellery that can get caught in
moving parts. Non-slip footwear is recommended. Wear ahairnet or similar if you have long hair.

9. Always use safety glasses.

Normal glasses are not tough enough to withstand impacts. Use adust mask or dust filter when working in
dusty environments.

10. Connect dust extraction equipment.

If themachine is equipped with dust extraction equipment, ensure that it is connected and used properly.
Make sure to empty thedust bag regularly.

11. Do not abuse themains lead.

Do not carry themachine by its mains lead. Do not yank themains lead to turn thepower off, pull theplug
out instead. Make sure that themains lead does not come into contact with heat, oil, or sharp edges.

12. Secure theworkpiece firmly.

Where possible, use clamps or avice. You can then operate themachine using two hands. This is much
safer than holding theworkpiece in one hand.

13. Do not overreach.

Make sure that you stand steady and balanced all times.

14. Look after your tools.

Keep blades sharp and clean for thebest and safest performance. Follow themanual’s recommendations
regarding lubrication and replacement of accessories. Inspect themains lead regularly. If it is damaged it
should be replaced by aqualified service technician. Inspect all leads and cables regularly to check for any
damage. Make sure that themachine’s handles and controls are clean, dry and free from oil, grease etc.

15. Turn thepower off.

Pull out theplug and push in theemergency stop button before servicing or changing any blades, drill bits,
cutters or sanding discs.

16. Remove all spanners and repair tools.

Make ahabit of checking to make sure that themachine is free of all spanners and tools before turning
thepower on.

17. Avoid accidental starts.

Do not walk around with your finger on thetrigger of electric machinery if it is plugged in. Make sure that
theON/OFF switch is set to OFF before plugging in any electric machinery.

18. Use thecorrect extension leads.

If you use extension leads outdoors, only use those designed for outdoor use.
Only use extension leads with adequate wire core area and roll out thewhole lead.

19. Use common sense and be careful.

Think carefully before carrying out every action, so that it is carried out safely.
Never operate machines when you are tired, under theinfluence of medicine, etc.

20. Inspect thetool for damage.

Before starting themachine, make sure that theguards and other parts are undamaged and working
properly, that moving parts can rotate freely and are correctly aligned, that no moving parts can get caught
and that there is no fault or defect that could affect theperformance of themachine. Asafety guard or any
other part that is damaged should be repaired by atradesman or replaced. Damaged power leads and
switches must always be replaced by atradesman. Never operate themachine if you cannot stop or start
thetool safely.

21. Use only recommended accessories.

Theuse of non-recommended accessories can cause accidents and personal injury.

22. Should only be repaired by aqualified technician.

This machine conforms to current safety requirements. Repairs to themachine should only be carried out by
atradesman using original spares; otherwise themachine could cause accidents and personal injury.

23. Electric machinery should be connected to themains via aResidual Current Device. This can help

minimise therisk of anelectric shock in theevent of anearth fault or short circuit.

Themachine must not be modified or used for any other purpose than that for which it has been designed.
Regularly check that all screws and nuts are tight.

1.2 Additional safety rules for log splitters

• Save theinstruction manual, make sure that it accompanies thelog splitter if it is borrowed.

• Read thewarning labels on thelog splitter and make sure that they are legible.

• Make sure that theelectrical socket you intend to use has thecorrect voltage (230 V) before connecting
thelog splitter.

• Never attempt to adjust theforce setting yourself. Thelog splitter is pre-set at thefactory for amaximum
splitting force of 5 tonnes. Tampering with thepressure settings can lead to diminished performance and
damage to themachine and result in serious person injury.

• Wear safety glasses, ear defenders and safety shoes if necessary.

• Always stand in such away that you can perform all work tasks whilst maintaining good balance and grip
thecontrol lever in one hand whilst pushing thepower button with theother hand.

• Keep your hands and fingers well away from thepressure plate and always use common sense and care
while operating the machinery.

• Make sure that there are no bystanders or pets close to themachine, sharp splinters can be ejected with
great force.

• Switch off thelog splitter and disconnect it from themains supply whenever you take abreak and before
starting any maintenance procedures. Make sure that thelog splitter cannot be started by any children or
unauthorised person.

• Thelog splitter should be connected to themains via anRCD for extra safety.

• Never use thelog splitter in therain or wet conditions.

• Never use thelog splitter if thepower switch, plug, mains lead or any other part is damaged. Thedefective
part must be replaced by aqualified repair person.

blocking theair intake.

• Note: Loosen thethebleed screw (7) 3–4 turns, so that there is anoticeable flow of air when thelog splitter
is in operation, otherwise thegaskets in thehydraulic system could be damaged and render thelog splitter
inoperable.

• Make sure that thenuts on theends of thepull rods are tight before operation, otherwise thelog splitter
could become damaged.

1.3 Product safety symbols

Warning: Risk of crushing. Keep hands well away from any moving parts during theentire
splitting operation.

Switch themachine off and unplug it before all cleaning, maintenance and whenever it is not being used.

make sure that none of thenuts and bolts are loose and that thehydraulic control lever and its cover
work properly.

Wear eye protection.
Protect your eyes from wood chips and splinters. Use protective glasses or avisor.

Wear safety gloves.

Wear safety footwear.
Footwear with steel toe caps should be used to protect your feet from falling objects.

Consider theenvironment, dispose of waste oil in accordance with local regulations.

3. Assembly

Attach thewheels using theprovided fasteners.

3.1 Preparations

1. Place thelog splitter on a firm, level surface providing acomfortable working height. Ensure that there is
adequate lighting for thework to be carried out safely.

2. Plug themains lead into anelectrical socket, preferably via anRCD. Take care to position themains lead
where it will not hinder thework or be damaged by thework with thelog splitter.

3. Unscrew thebleed screw (7) 3 or 4 turns to ensure adetectable flow of air to theoil tank while thelog
splitter is in operation.

3.2 Setting the desired splitting length

Thelog splitter returns to theset splitting length automatically. Thesplitting length can be set by using areturn
stop which prevents thepiston from returning all theway.

1. Runthepiston out without apiece of wood, release thepower switch (11) but hold thepiston in
theextended position using thecontrol lever (1).

2. Undothereturn stopscrew.

3. Movethereturn stop to thedesired splitting length and tighten thescrew.

3.3 Operating the log splitter

1. Always place theleast knotty end of thelog toward
thewedge, always split along thegrain.

2. Position thelog in such away that it is stable, use
thelog retaining plate to help.

3. Start themotor by pressing and holding in thepower
switch (11).

4. Start thehydraulic ram by depressing thecontrol lever
(1) (with thepower switch pressed in).

5. Thepressure plate will force thelog against
thesplitting wedge.

6. Release thecontrol lever and thepower switch to
discontinue thesplitting operation once thelog has
been split.

Note: Thepressure plate will automatically stop at about
16 cm / 6 inches before it reaches thewedge.

• Note: If thewood does not start to split after 5 seconds despite full pressure, release thecontrol lever and
thepower switch and let thepressure plate return to thestarting position. Turn thelog through 90 degrees
and try to split it again.

• Note: Make sure that thebleed screw (7) is closed before thelog splitter is moved or put away, otherwise oil
could leak out.

• If thebleed screw is left open when thelog splitter is stored away, theoil will absorb moisture form theair.
This can cause thehydraulic system to rust from theinside.

• Note: Do not use just thetop half of thewedge for splitting, thelog splitter can be damaged by
unbalanced loading.

If the log jams

• Stop thelog splitter.

• Once thepressure plate has returned to its starting
position: place awooden wedge under theend of thelog

nearest thepressure plate.

• Start thelog splitter and force thewedge under thelog
using thepressure plate.

• Repeat theprocedure with alarger wedge if necessary.

Note: Never try to dislodge alog which is under pressure,
it could split and fly off with great force and damage thelog
splitter or cause aninjury.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Changing the hydraulic oil

Thehydraulic oil should be changed at regular intervals (about every 150 hours)
as follows:

1. Make sure that thepressure plate is in its starting position before pulling out
theplug.

2. Remove thedrain bolt.

3. Tilt thelog splitter with thewedge end down over acontainer capable of
holding at least 4 litres of oil and wait until theoil has drained out.

4. Tilt thelog splitter theother way, so that themotor end is down and pour in
about 3.5 litres of good quality new hydraulic oil.

5. Wipe thedipstick, dip it into thetank with thelog splitter in thevertical
position, pull it out and read it. Theoil level should be between thetwo
grooves on thedipstick.

6. Clean thedrain bolt and screw it in back in tight.

7. Recheck theoil level regularly and top up theoil if necessary.

4.2 Sharpening the wedge

Thesplitting wedge should be kept sharp by filing it regularly with afine-toothed file.

4.3 Other maintenance

• Always unplug themachine before carrying out any adjustments or maintenance.

• Ensure that themains lead, plug and on/off switch are all in good condition and undamaged.

• Clean all theparts of thelog splitter with abrush and dry rags.

• Store themachine in adry, clean, non-corrosive environment and out of children’s reach. Make sure that
thetemperature of thestorage area does not fall to below −25°.

• Make sure that all thenuts and bolts are tightened, especially thenuts on thepull rods (by thehandle).

5. Disposal

This product should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
If you are unsure how to proceed, contact your local council.

6. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible cause Remedy

Fails to split log. Log improperly positioned. Turn thelog around or rotate it.

1. Säkerhet

1.1 Generella säkerhetsregler för din och andras säkerhet

1. Håll arbetsutrymmet rent.
Belamrade ytor och bord inbjuder till olyckor.

2. Använd inte maskinen i riskfylld miljö.
Elektriska maskiner ska inte användas på fuktiga våta ytor eller vid regn. Se till att belysningen är god i arbets­utrymmet. Sörj för god luftväxling vid dammande arbeten. Använd aldrig elektriska maskiner där de kan
förorsaka brand eller explosion!

3. Undvik elektrisk stöt.
Undvik kroppskontakt med jordade föremål som vattenledning, element, köksspis etc. samtidigt som du
använder elektriska maskiner.

4. Håll undan barn och besökare.
Alla barn och besökare bör befinna sig på säkerhetsavstånd från elektriska maskiner och elkablar i arbetsutrymmet.

5. Förvara maskinerna barnsäkert.
Förvara elektriska maskiner/verktyg inlåsta eller utom räckhåll för barn när de inte används!

6. Pressa inte maskinen.
Den gör jobbet bättre och säkrare med avsedd matningshastighet.

7. Använd rätt verktyg.
Pressa inte ett verktyg eller en tillsats att göra ett arbetsmoment som den inte är gjord för.

8. Bär lämplig klädsel.
Inga löst sittande kläder, vantar, halsband, ringar, armband eller andra smycken som kan fastna i roterande
delar. Halksäkra skor rekommenderas. Bär hårnät (motsv.) om du har långt hår.

9. Bär alltid skyddsglasögon!
Bär alltid skyddsglasögon, vanliga glasögon räcker inte! Använd också dammfilter eller skyddsmask vid
dammande arbeten.

10. Använd utsug.
Använd utsugningsutrustning för att ta bort och samla damm och spån, om maskinen är avsedd för det.
Se till att utrustningen används på rätt sätt och töms vid behov.

11. Misshandla inte nätsladden.
Bär aldrig maskinen i nätsladden. Ryck inte i sladden, utan dra i stickproppen när du bryter strömmen.
Se till att nätsladden inte kommer i kontakt med värme, olja eller vassa kanter.

12. Sätt fast ämnet ordentligt.
Använd tvingar eller skruvstycke där det går, då kan du hantera maskinen med två händer. Det är säkrare än
att hålla fast ämnet med ena handen.

13. Sträck dig inte för långt.
Se till att du hela tiden står säkert med god balans.

14. Håll verktygen i trim.
Se till att de är rena och eggarna vassa för optimal effekt och ett säkert resultat. Följ manualens rekommendationer
för smörjning och byte av tillbehör. Kontrollera nätsladden regelbundet, om den är skadad ska den bytas
av en kvalificerad servicetekniker. Syna alla skarvsladdar regelbundet så att de inte är skadade. Se till att
maskinens handtag och reglage är torra, rena och helt fria från olja, fett etc.

15. Slå av strömmen.
Dra ur stickproppen och tryck in nödstopp, före service och vid byte av tillbehör som hyvelstål, borrar, skär,
slipband eller blad.

16. Ta bort alla nycklar och serviceverktyg.
Gör det till en vana att kontrollera att alla nycklar och serviceverktyg är borttagna från maskinen innan du slår
på strömmen.

17. Undvik oavsiktlig start.
Bär inte en elektrisk maskin med ett finger på strömbrytaren/avtryckaren om sladden sitter i ett uttag.
Se till att strömbrytaren står på OFF när du sätter i stickproppen.

18. Använd rätt skarvsladdar.
Om du använder skarvsladdar utomhus, använd endast dem som är avsedda för utomhusbruk.
Använd skarvsladdar med tillräcklig ledararea, rulla ut hela sladden!

19. Använd sunt förnuft och var försiktig.
Tänk efter innan du utför ett arbetsmoment, så att du kan utföra det på ett säkert sätt! Använd inte
maskinen när du är trött, påverkad av mediciner etc.

20. Kontrollera att alla delar är oskadade.
Kontrollera innan du startar maskinen: att alla skydd och övriga delar är oskadade och fyller sin funktion,
att rörliga delar kan rotera fritt och är rätt inriktade, att inga rörliga delar kan fastna, att ingen defekt uppstått
och andra omständigheter som kan påverka arbetets utförande. Ett skydd eller någon annan del som skadats
ska repareras fackmässigt eller bytas ut. Skadade nätsladdar och strömbrytare ska alltid bytas ut av fackman.
Använd aldrig maskinen om du inte kan stänga av eller starta den på ett betryggande sätt.

21. Använd rekommenderade tillbehör.
Användning av ej rekommenderade tillbehör kan vålla olyckor eller risk för personskada.

22. Repareras endast av kvalificerad tekniker.
Maskinen överensstämmer med gällande säkerhetskrav. Reparationer av maskinen ska alltid utföras av
fackman, med originalreservdelar, annars kan maskinen vålla olyckor eller risk för personskada.

23. Elektriska maskiner bör anslutas till elnätet via en jordfelsbrytare för personskydd.

1.2 Särskilda säkerhetsföreskrifter för vedklyv

• Spara bruksanvisningen, se till att den medföljer vedklyven vid ev. utlåning.

• Läs vedklyvens varningsdekaler och se till att de är läsbara.

• Kontrollera att eluttaget har rätt spänning innan vedklyven ansluts (230 V).

• Försök aldrig att själv ändra tryckinställningen. Den är inställd på fabriken för att ge max tryckkraft på 5 ton.
Felaktig inställning kan leda till försämrad funktion eller till att allvarliga person- och maskinskador uppstår.

• Använd skyddsglasögon, hörselskydd och skyddsskor vid behov.

• Stå alltid så att du kan utföra alla arbetsmoment med god balans och håll strömbrytare och tryckspak med
båda händerna.

• Håll händer och fingrar på säkert avstånd från tryckplatta och klyvkil, använd som vanligt vid arbete med alla
maskiner ditt sunda förnuft och var försiktig när du jobbar.

• Se till att inte människor och djur uppehåller sig i närheten av vedklyven, vassa träflisor kan flyga omkring
med stor kraft.

• Dra alltid ut nätsladdens stickpropp ur eluttaget vid service och uppehåll i arbetet och se till att inga barn
kan starta vedklyven.

• Anslut vedklyven till ett eluttag via en jordfelsbrytare, för säkerhets skull!

• Använd aldrig vedklyven i regn eller extremt fuktig väderlek.

• Använd aldrig vedklyven om elkabel, strömbrytare eller någon annan del är skadad. Defekt del ska bytas
av fackman.

• Håll rent på arbetsplatsen, se till att elmotorns kylning inte förhindras genom att skräp täcker kylflänsarna
eller kylluftsintaget.

• Obs! Skruva ut luftskruven (7) 3–4 varv, så att en märkbar luftström uppstår under drift, annars kan
tätningarna i hydraulsystemet skadas och göra vedklyven obrukbar.

• Kontrollera före användning att muttrarna till dragstängerna sitter fast, annars kan vedklyven skadas.

1.3 Produktmärkning med säkerhetssymboler på vedklyven

Varning! Klämrisk, var uppmärksam, håll undan händerna från rörliga delar under hela klyvmomentet.

Varning! Klämrisk när du tar bort ett vedstycke som har fastnat, ta inte bort det med händerna,

använd något verktyg.

Det är förbjudet för andra än maskinoperatören att vistas i vedklyvens riskområde.
Håll undan barn, husdjur och besökare från vedklyvens riskområde!

Stäng av vedklyven och dra ut nätsladdens stickpropp ur eluttaget när vedklyven inte används och
före rengöring och service.

Kontrollera att vedklyven är oskadad före användning, kontrollera särskilt att elkabeln är oskadad,
om det finns lösa skruvar/muttrar och om manöverreglagen och skydden fungerar bra.
