1. Safety

Warning!

In order to minimise therisk of fire, electric shock or personal injury, certain basic safety precautions must always
be observed when using this machine. Read this instruction manual carefully before using theproduct and save
this manual for future reference.

1. Keep theworking area tidy. Cluttered surfaces and benches invite accidents.

2. Take stock of your working environment. Do not expose thetool to rain. Do not use thetool in moist or wet
areas. Keep theworking area well lit. Never operate thetool near flammable liquid or gas.

3. Avoid electric shocks. Avoid body contact with earthed objects such as pipes, radiators, ovens or refrigerators.

4. Keep other people at asafe distance. Do not allow anyone, especially children, not involved in thework process
to touch thetool or its electric cable. Keep all bystanders at adistance.

5. Store thetool in asafe place. When your tools are not in use, keep them in alocked, dry area, away from children.

6. Do not force thetool. The tool will work better and safer at thefeed rate for which it was intended.

7. Use thecorrect machine. Do not try to use small tools to perform jobs requiring more powerful tools. Do not
use atool for apurpose for which it was not designed, e.g. using acircular saw for lopping branches off trees.

8. Wear suitable attire. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery; they could be caught in moving parts.
Non-slip shoes are recommended for outdoor work. Wear ahairnet or similar if you have long hair.

9. Always use safetywear. Wear safety glasses. Use adust mask or dust filter when working in dusty environments.

10. Use dust extractors. If thetool is equipped with or connected to adust extractor/collector, make sure that
itis turned on and used correctly.

11. Do not abuse thelead. Do not jerk thelead, grip theplug itself when disconnecting thepower. Make sure
that themains lead does not come into contact with heat, oil, or sharp edges.

12. Firmly secure theworkpiece. If possible use vices or clamps to hold theworkpiece in place. This is much
safer than holding theworkpiece in one hand.

13. Do not overreach. Make sure that you stand steady and balanced all times.

14. Look after you tools. Make sure that they are clean and that theedges are sharp for maximum effect and
best results. Follow themanual’s recommendations regarding lubrication and replacement of accessories.
Inspect themains lead regularly. If it is damaged it should be replaced by aqualified service technician.
Inspect all leads and cables regularly to check for any damage. Make sure that themachine’s handles and
controls are clean, dry and free from oil and grease.

15. Have any defective power switches replaced at aqualified service centre.

16. Do not use theproduct if theON/OFF switch does not function properly.

17. Turn thepower off. Pull out theplug and push in theemergency stop button before servicing or changing
any blades, drill bits, cutters or sanding discs.

18. Remove all spanners and repair tools. Make ahabit of checking to make sure that themachine is free of all
spanners and tools before turning thepower on.

19. Avoid accidental starts. Do not walk around with your finger on thetrigger of apower tool if it is plugged in.
Make sure that theON/OFF switch is set to OFF before plugging in any power tool.

20. Use thecorrect extension leads. If you use extension leads outdoors, only use those designed for outdoor
use. Only use extension leads with thick enough diameter core wires and roll out thewhole lead.

21. Use common sense and be careful. Think before carrying out any task, so that it is carried out safely.
Never operate machines/power tools when you are tired or under theinfluence of medicine.

22. Check thefollowing before turning thetool on:

• That all guards and other parts are whole and in working order.

• That moving parts are free and correctly aligned.

• That no moving parts can get caught.

• That there are no visible defects.

• Other factors that can influence work execution.

23. Use only recommended accessories. The use of accessories which are not recommended by
themanufacturer may present arisk of personal injury.

24. Check that thetool conforms to current safety regulations. Repairs to thetool should only be carried out by
atradesman using original spares; otherwise thetool could cause accidents and personal injury.

Additional safety instructions

• If using afloor stand, make sure that theband saw is securely fastened to thestand and that thestand is
properly assembled and securely fastened to thefloor.

• Make sure that theband saw is positioned in such away that theworkpiece can be worked on in asafe manner.

• This saw must not be used for wet cutting. Doing so can lead to deadly electric shocks. This band saw is
only intended for dry cutting.

• The drive belt must not be put under too much tension; it will last longer if thetension is released when
thesaw is not in use.

• Do not allow thebuild-up of sawdust around themotor or inside themachine. Piles of sawdust are afire hazard.

• The sawblade must not be stopped through theexertion of pressure on theworkpiece or by apply force to
thesides of theblade.

• The machine’s safety guards must be in place and functioning properly. Always check that theblade guides
are correctly aligned.

• Never turn themachine on if thesaw blade is in contact with theworkpiece.

• Make sure that there are no nails or screws in theworkpiece which could damage thesaw blade.

• Do not attempt to modify themachine or its accessories in any way.

• Do not apply too much pressure to theworkpiece when feeding it into thesaw blade. A steady feed
rate reduces wear on thesaw and saw blade and consequently increases theefficiency and useful life of
theband saw. Replace any worn table inserts.

• Connect theband saw to adust extractor before starting to saw. The saw must not be used if any of its
panels is open or if theblade guard is not in place.

• Select an appropriate saw blade and sawing speed for thetype of workpiece.

• When sawing with atilted table, position theguide on thelower side of thetable.

• Position theblade guard as close to theworkpiece as possible.

Saw blade safety

• Use only blades recommended by themanufacturer/supplier.

• Do not use adamaged or deformed saw blade. Doing so could result in considerable danger to theuser
ordamage to themachine.

• The direction marked on thesaw blade should correspond to thedirection of thepulley’s rotation.

• The teeth of theblade should be pointing downwards when theblade is viewed from theside.

• Release theblade tension when thesaw is not used. Always wear safety gloves and safety glasses when
fitting or removing asaw blade.

• Always roll up thesaw blade in an open area away from other people. Store theblade coiled up and
protected with fastening wire.

• Always keep your fingers away from moving saw blades.

Specific safety instructions for band saws

• Never use damaged or deformed saw blades.

• Replace thetable insert when it is worn or damaged.

• Do not clean thesaw blade whilst it is in motion.

• Connect adust extraction device to theband saw when sawing wood.

• Do not turn thesaw on when one of theblade pulley wheel covers is open or if any of theblade
guards are not in place.

• Make sure that you use thecorrect blade speed for thematerial that is to be cut.

• When transporting thesaw, theupper blade guard should be lowered over theblade to protect it.

• When sawing cylindrical workpieces, aclamp should be used to prevent theworkpiece from twisting.

• When sawing tall workpieces, aclamp should be used to prevent theworkpiece from tipping over.

• The band saw must only be used with compatible accessories and only for thepurpose for which
it was designed.

• Do not allow children to use themachine.

The most frequent dangers when band sawing are

• Dangers associated with themoving saw blade, such as sharp teeth.

• Off-cuts from theworkpiece which can be ejected towards theuser.

• Kickbacks from theworkpiece.

Despite the fact that the band saw has been fitted with all the necessary safety
devices and conforms to relevant safety standards, the following hazards still exist

• Hearing damage caused by high noise levels.

• The risk of an accident in theunprotected area around thesaw blade.

• The risk of injury when changing thesaw blade.

• The risk of flying off-cuts or wood chips.

• Trapped fingers.

• Workpiece kickback.

• The risk of inhalation of harmful dust, especially oak and beech sawdust.

Product safety symbols and their meaning

Read theinstruction manual carefully before use.

Always use ear protection, eye protection and respiratory protection to prevent inhalation of
harmful dust.

Note! Make sure that theband saw is disconnected from themains before assembly.

Fitting the table and rip fence

1. Fit thetable onto thetrunnion (15) and secure it
using thebolt and wing nut (17).

2. Fit therip fence (2) and its rail onto thetable.

Setting up the table

1. Loosen thescrew that secures thepointer (16) and set thepointer to 0°.

2. Place aset square against thetable and blade.

3. Loosen thetable locking wing nut (17) and adjust it so that it is at aright angle to theblade.
Tighten thewing nut again.

Setting up the blade tension and tracking

1. Open theupper and lower pulley
wheel covers.

2. Adjust theblade tension using thetension
knob (4). Turn theknob clockwise to
increase thetension, anticlockwise to
decrease thetension.

3. The saw blade is correctly tensioned if
it can be moved approximately 10 mm
sideways with moderate hand pressure.

4. Slowly rotate theupper pulley by hand to make sure that theblade is centred on both of theblade pulley wheels.

5. If adjustment is necessary, loosen thewing nut on thetracking knob (12) and move theknob in or out until
theblade runs true.

Setting up the blade guides

The blade guides minimise blade movement during sawing.

1. After theblade has been centred on theblade pulley

wheels, make sure that theteeth of theblade do not
line up with theguide pins (18), if they do theentire
guide pin post and support bearings can be moved
back so that theteeth of theblade do not foul
theguide pins.

2. The guide bearings should be 0.2 mm from theside of
theblade.

3. Rotate thewheel by hand and make sure that thejoint of theblade passes through theguides.

4. Position therear support bearing (19) as close to theback of thesaw blade as possible without it coming
into contact.

4. Operation

Start/stop button

This saw is fitted with ano-volt release switch which prevents thesaw from
automatically starting again following apower cut or if themains plug is
reconnected to themains supply after themachine has been stopped by being
unplugged with theON/OFF switch set to ON.
The saw is switched on by pushing in thegreen [1] button and switched off by
pushing in thered [0] button.

Sawing

• The upper blade guide assembly should be
lowered to as close aposition to theworkpiece
as possible. To lower theassembly, loosen
thelocking knob (6) and slide theassembly down.
Tighten thelocking knob.

• Set therip fence to thedesired width. Plan thecut
before starting to saw. When sawing asmall
workpiece, use apush stick to ensure that your
hands do not come too close to theblade.

• Before sawing alarge workpiece, make sure
that there is enough room around thesaw
for theworkpiece to be manoeuvred safely.
If necessary, you should also make sure that
theworkpiece is supported to avoid undue
stress on theblade. Cut thematerial at asteady,
even pace. A clear sign that thesawing is being
forced too quickly is themotor changing pitch or
slowing down.

Note

• Make sure that thesaw blade undamaged and is centred on theblade pulley wheels before starting to saw.

• Feed theworkpiece into theblade carefully making sure not to exert too much pressure.

• Hold theworkpiece in both hands if you can or use apush stick if theworkpiece is too small.

• Always keep your hands well away from thesaw blade and think through thecut before starting.

• For thebest results, use asharp saw blade.

• Select thecorrect saw blade for thethickness of theworkpiece and type of cut. Thin and hard woods
require finer toothed blades than thicker, softer woods.

• Tight radii require anarrower blade than straight cuts.

• Use therip fence as asupport when making straight cuts.

• Think about acut before beginning to saw aworkpiece, you might need to reposition theworkpiece or turn
it over. Mark out thecut on both sides of theworkpiece if necessary.

• Never twist theworkpiece without it being pressed against thesaw blade, otherwise theworkpiece can
become stuck or theblade can bend.

• Always unplug theband saw before making any adjustments or repairs and whenever thesaw is not to be used.

Using the mitre gauge

1. Make apractice cut with thegauge set to 0° and then check thecut using atry square.

2. If adjustment is necessary, loosen thescrew holding thepointer and move thepointer accordingly.

3. Set thedesired angle on themitre gauge and make thecut whilst holding theworkpiece firmly against
themitre gauge.

• Undo thewing nut (17), tilt thetable to thedesired angle and tighten thewing nut.

5. Care and maintenance

Changing the saw blade

1. Open theupper and lower blade pulley wheel covers.

2. Remove thescrew from theend of
thesaw blade.

4. First put on apair of work gloves and then carefully remove theblade from thesaw, theteeth are very sharp.

5. Fit thenew blade in reverse order making sure that theteeth are pointing down towards thetable.

6. Tension theblade as directed in “Setting up theblade tension and tracking”.

anticlockwise until theblade comes loose.

7. If necessary, adjust theblade guides as directed in “Setting up theblade guides”.

Changing the speed/drive belt

1. Remove theblade; refer to “Changing thesaw blade”.

2. The motor is fastened by two bolts on theback of thesaw.

3. Undo thetwo bolts so themotor can be
moved and thebelt loosened.

4. The blade speed can be changed by moving
thedrive belt between drive pulley wheels.
The outer pulley wheels (as in fig.) move theblade
at 660 m/min and theinner wheels (see arrows)
move theblade at 960 m/min.

5. To replace thedrive belt thelower blade pulley
wheel must be removed. Find thecirclip that
holds theblade pulley wheel onto theshaft and
remove it using apair of circlip pliers.

7. Place thenew belt over themotor’s drive pulley wheel and round theshaft which theblade pulley wheel is
mounted on. Replace theblade pulley wheel and refit thecirclip. Make sure that thedrive belt is fully located
in thegrooves of either theinner or outer wheels.

8. Tension thebelt by pivoting themotor back into place and secure it with thetwo bolts.

6. Pull theblade pulley wheel off theshaft.

Note!

• Always unplug theband saw before making any adjustments or repairs and whenever
thesaw is not to beused.

• Do not expose themachine to moisture.

• Keep thetable clean and free of wood sap.

• Keep theband saw clean, use abrush and dust extractor to remove dust and chips. Pay particular
attention to themotor’s air intakes and any openings where thedust can build up and prevent theblade
from running freely.

1. Säkerhet

1. Håll arbetsplatsen ren. Belamrade ytor och bord inbjuder till olyckor.

5. Förvara verktygen iett säkert utrymme. När verktygen inte används, förvara dem iett torrt låst utrymme

6. Överbelasta inte verktyget. Det gör jobbet bättre och säkrare med avsedd matningshastighet.

7. Använd rätt maskin. Pressa inte små verktyg att utföra stora jobb som kräver kraftfulla verktyg.
Pressa inte ett verktyg eller en tillsats att göra ett arbetsmoment som den inte är gjord för; använd t.ex.
inte en cirkelsåg för att kapa trädgrenar eller timmer.

8. Bär lämplig klädsel. Bär inga löst sittande kläder eller smycken, de kan fastna iroterande delar.
Halksäkra skor rekommenderas vid arbete utomhus. Bär hårnät eller liknande om du har långt hår.

9. Bär alltid skyddsutrustning. Bär skyddsglasögon. Använd också dammfilter eller skyddsmask vid
dammande arbeten.

10. Använd utsugningsutrustning. Om verktyget är förberett för anslutning av utrustning för utsugning och
uppsamling av damm, se till att utrustningen är ansluten och korrekt använd.

11. Misshandla inte nätsladden. Ryck inte isladden, utan dra istickproppen när du ska ta ur den ur
vägguttaget. Se till att nätsladden inte kommer ikontakt med värme, olja eller vassa kanter.

12. Spänn fast arbetsstycket ordentligt. När det är möjligt, använd tvingar eller skruvstäd för att spänna fast
arbetsstycket. Det är säkrare än att hålla fast arbetsstycket med ena handen.

13. Sträck dig inte för långt. Se till att du hela tiden står säkert med god balans.

14. Håll verktygen itrim. Se till att de är rena och eggarna vassa för optimal effekt och ett säkert resultat.
Följ manualens rekommendationer för smörjning och byte av tillbehör. Kontrollera nätsladden regelbundet.
Om den är skadad ska den bytas av en kvalificerad servicetekniker. Syna alla skarvsladdar regelbundet så
att de inte är skadade. Se till att maskinens/verktygets handtag och reglage är torra, rena och helt fria från
olja, fett etc.

15. Om någon av strömbrytarna inte fungerar korrekt ska den bytas ut av auktoriserad servicepersonal.

16. Använd inte elverktyget om strömbrytaren PÅ/AV inte startar och stänger av elverktyget.

17. Slå av strömmen. Dra ur stickproppen och tryck in nödstopp före service och vid byte av tillbehör som
hyvelstål, borrar, stål, slipband eller blad.

18. Ta bort alla nycklar och serviceverktyg. Gör det till en vana att kontrollera att alla nycklar och serviceverktyg
är borttagna från maskinen innan du slår på strömmen.

19. Undvik oavsiktlig start. Bär inte ett verktyg med ett finger på strömbrytaren/avtryckaren om sladden sitter
iett uttag. Se till att strömbrytaren står på OFF när du sätter istickproppen.

20. Använd rätt skarvsladdar. Om du använder skarvsladdar utomhus, använd endast de som är avsedda för
utomhusbruk. Använd skarvsladdar med tillräcklig ledararea och rulla ut hela sladden.

21. Använd sunt förnuft och var försiktig. Tänk efter innan du utför ett arbetsmoment, så att du kan utföra det
på ett säkert sätt. Använd inte maskinen/verktyget när du är trött, påverkad av mediciner etc.

22. Kontrollera följande innan du startar verktyget:

• Att alla skydd och övriga delar är oskadade och fyller sin funktion.

• Att rörliga delar kan rotera fritt och är rätt inriktade.

• Att inga rörliga delar kan fastna.

• Att ingen defekt har uppstått.

• Andra omständigheter som kan påverka arbetets utförande.

23. Använd rekommenderade tillbehör. Användning av tillbehör som inte är rekommenderade av tillverkaren kan
vålla olyckor eller leda till personskada.

24. Kontrollera att verktyget överensstämmer med gällande säkerhetskrav. Reparationer av verktyget ska alltid
utföras av fackman, med originalreservdelar, annars kan verktyget vålla olyckor eller risk för personskada.

Speciella säkerhetsföreskrifter

• Om golvstativ används, se till att bandsågen är ordentligt fastsatt istativet och att stativet isin tur är
ordentligt monterat och fastsatt igolvet.

• Se till att bandsågen placeras på sådant sätt att arbetsstycken som ska bearbetas kan hanteras på
ettsäkert sätt.

• Sågen får inte användas till våtsågning, det kan orsaka en dödlig elstöt. Sågen är endast avsedd för torrsågning.

• Drivremmen får inte spännas för hårt, den håller längre om man lossar dess spänning när sågen inte används.

• Låt inte spån samlas upp kring motorn eller inne imaskinen. Ansamling av spån utgör brandfara.

• Sågbladet får inte stoppas genom att utöva kraft på arbetsstycket eller genom att använda sidotryck.

• Maskinens skydd måste finnas och vara itekniskt gott skick. Kontrollera alltid att rullar för bladstyrning
är rätt inställda.

• Starta aldrig maskinen om sågbladet är ikontakt med arbetsstycket.

• Kontrollera arbetsstycket så att det inte innehåller spikar, skruvar m.m. som kan skada sågbladet.

• Försök inte modifiera maskinen eller dess tillbehör på något sätt.

• Utöva inte för stort tryck vid frammatning av arbetsstycket till maskinens sågblad. Stegvis frammatning av
arbetsstycket till sågbladet minskar slitage på sågen och sågbladet, och ökar samtidigt dess effektivitet och
livslängd. Byt ut ett utslitet bordsinlägg.

• Innan sågning startas, anslut bandsågen till en anordning för dammutsugning. Sågen får inte användas om
någon av dess dörrar är öppna eller med öppet bandskydd.

• Anpassa sågbandet och såghastigheten efter arbetsstycket.

• Vid vinkelsågning, när bordet är lutat, placera styrningen på bordets lägre sida.

• Justera skyddet så nära arbetsstycket som möjligt.

Säkerhet i samband med sågblad

• Använd endast blad som rekommenderas av tillverkaren/leverantören.

• Använd inte deformerade sågblad eller sågblad med avbrutna tänder. Det kan leda till allvarlig personskada
eller till att bandsågen förstörs.

• Riktning som visas av markeringen på sågbladet bör överensstämma med motorns rotationsriktning.

• Bladtänderna bör vara riktade neråt, när man tittar från sågens framsida.

• Lossa bladspänningen när sågen inte används. Använd alltid skyddshandskar och skyddsglasögon vid
montering och demontering av sågbladet.

• Rulla alltid upp sågbladen på platser där det är gott om utrymme, borta från andra människor.
Förvara sågbladen hoprullade ien slinga och skyddade med bindtråd.

• Håll alltid fingrarna borta från sågblad som rör sig.

Särskild säkerhet för bandsågar

• Använd inte bandsågblad som är skadade eller deformerade.

• Ersätt bordsilägget om det blivit skadat.

• Rengör inte bandsågen när den är idrift.

• Koppla en spånsug/grovdammsugare till bandsågen vid sågning iträ.

• Försök inte att starta sågen när en av dörrarna för bandhjulen är öppna
eller om något av skydden för bladet inte är irätt position.

• Se alltid till att ha rätt bladhastighet för det material som ska sågas.

• Vid transport skall övre bladstyrningen sänkas helt som skydd mot bladet.

• Vid sågning av rundstavar skall en anordning användas som förhindrar att arbetsstycket vrids.

• Vid sågning av höga arbetsstycken skall en anordning användas som hindrar att arbetsstycket tippar.

• Bandsågen får endast användas med avsedda tillbehör och det ändamål den är avsedd för.

• Barn får inte använda maskinen.

De vanligast förekommande faromomenten vid bandsågning är

• Faror förorsakade av det löpande bandsågbladet, t.ex. genom kontakt med sågtänderna.

• Delar från arbetsstycket, lössågade bitar och liknande som slungas ut.

• Bakslag av arbetsstycke.

Trots att nödvändiga skyddsanordningar installerats enligt gällande föreskrifter
återstår följande faromoment vid användning av bandsågen

• Hörselskador genom buller.

• Olycksrisk idet inte övertäckta området runt bandsågbladet.

• Risk för skador vid byte av verktyg (skärsår).

• Fara genom utslungade arbetsstycken eller delar.

• Fingrar kan klämmas.

• Fara genom bakslag.

• Hälsofara från det damm som uppstår under arbetet, speciellt trämjöl från ek- och bokträ.

Produktmärkning med säkerhetssymboler på maskinen

Läs bruksanvisningen noggrant före användning.

Använd alltid hörselskydd/skyddsglasögon och andningsskydd, trädamm kan vara hälsovådligt.

Fastsättning av bord och längdanslag

1. Fäst bordet på svängsegmentet (15) med
skruven och vingmuttern (17).

2. Fäst längdanslagets skena och
längdanslaget (2) på bordet.

Inställning av bordet

1. Lossa vid behov skruven som fäster visaren (16) på skalan och ställ in visaren på 0º.

2. Placera ett lämpligt vinkelmått mellan sågbladet och bordet.

3. Lossa vingmuttern (17) som fäster bordet och rikta in det iönskad vinkel mot sågbladet.
Skruva fast bordet ordentligt.

Inställning av bladspänning och centrering

1. Öppna locken till övre och nedre
sågbladshjulen.

2. Ställ in sågbladsspänningen med
vredet för bladspänning (4). För att öka
bladspänningen vrid medurs och för att
minska, vrid moturs.

3. Sågbladet är rätt spänt om det kan
flyttas åt sidorna ca 10 mm med måttligt
handtryck.

4. Vrid det övre sågbladshjulet långsamt för hand medurs för att kontrollera att bladet löper mitt på hjulens belägg.

5. Justera vid behov spårningen med ratten (12) på baksidan av sågen, lossa först vingmuttern som låser ratten.

Inställning av sågbladstyrningarna

Sågbladsstyrningarna minimerar sågbladets rörelse
under sågningen.

1. Efter att sågbladet är centrerat på bandhjulen,
kontrollera så att sågbladets tänder inte hamnar ilinje
med bladledarna (18). Om så sker kan hela hållaren
för bladledarna inklusive bakre stödlagret flyttas bakåt
så att sågtänderna går fritt från bladledarna.

2. Ställ in bladledarna ca 0,2 mm från bladet.

3. Kontrollera att bladskarven går igenom utan att fastna genom att rotera sågbladshjulet för hand.

4. Placera det bakre stödlagret (19) så nära bakom sågbladet som det går utan att vidröra det.
