The Compaq Microcom 420 56K PC Card Fax Modem keeps global business travelers connected with 56K analog data speeds on their portable computers. This Compaq modem’s fast, high-quality, easy Internet and remote LAN communications give international travelers access to all the information they need, when they need it. It is engineered with both V.90 and K56Flex technologies for seamless connectivity, 2 MB of flash ROM for simple software upgrades, multiple country approvals for international travel, Digital Line Protection for extra reliability, and Plug and Play configuration for easy installation.

V.90 and K56Flex Technology
Designed with 2 MB of flash ROM, the Compaq Microcom 420 comes pre-loaded with both V.90 and K56Flex technology. When making an Internet connection, the modem auto-configures to the appropriate technology. This gives users a seamless, smooth operation, as well as the optimal opportunity to connect at 56 Kbps.

Easy Country Configurations
The Compaq Microcom 420 is designed specifically to include all the possibilities required for international use. Equipped with Compaq’s Locale Utility, a user simply chooses the desired country from a scroll-down list and the modem automatically resets itself to the appropriate network parametres, as well as to the optimum performance levels available in that country. What’s more, users need only one cable for traveling in up to 30 countries.

Software included with the Compaq Microcom 420 enables a user to send and receive faxes at speeds up to 14.4 Kbps, directly from the laptop while on the road.

The Compaq Microcom 420 also includes MNP 10 and MNP 10 EC, the industry’s leading error connection protocols, providing high throughput modem connections during adverse line conditions, which is essential for domestic and international communication.
Plug and Play Installation
The Compaq Microcom 420 is one of the easiest modems to install. Approved with virtually any portable computer, it is Microsoft Windows 3.x, 95, 98, and NT compatible. Simply plug the modem into the portable computer’s PC card slot, load the software, and it’s ready to access the Internet, and send and receive faxes.
