<Symptom>
The deterioration (softening) of the rubber on the Lower Internal Delivery Roller (see P-1) can cause delay jams
(010F) over the Reversal Vertical Path Sensor (PS15).

<Cause>
Deterioration occurring because of heat can lead to softening of the rubber portion of the Lower Internal Delivery
Roller [B].

<Factory measures>
A different rubber material will be used for the Lower Internal Delivery Roller [B] to increase the margin of
resistance against heat.

Service work:

If the symptom has been noticed, feel the Lower Internal Delivery Roller [B] to check its condition; if the Roller is
found to have deteriorated (softened up), replace it with the new type one. The shaft and rubber portion of the Lower
Internal Delivery Roller [B] heat up. Therefore, great attention will be required when replacing.

Points to note about service work:

The foregoing symptom can also occur if the Spring inside the one-way mechanism of the 18T gear [A] (FU5-0179-

000) used to drive the Lower Internal Delivery Roller [B] fails to serve its function. To find out if such is the cause,
be sure also to check the gear.

At this moment, the 18T gear [A] has the Spring with higher durability for prevention against the symptom and can
be referred by the advanced service parts number "FU5-0179-020".
