Document Feed (ADF) Support

Do NO T connect the interface cable. Connecting the interface cable is done when installing the driver.

Release the Scanner

Lock

Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams an d misfeeds.

Put paper in the paper tray. Check that the paper is flat in the tray and

belo w the ma ximu m pa pe r mar k.

Push the lever up to unlock the scanner. (The gray scanner lo ck lever is located at

the back left under side of the document cover.)

Make sure that the power switch is off. Connect the AC power cord to the machine.

Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the j ac k on the M F C m ar ke d LINE and the

othe r end to a m od ular wa ll jack.

Warning

■ The M FC m ust be grounded using a 3-prong plug.

■ Since the M FC is grounded through the power

outlet, you can protect yourself from potentially hazardous electrical conditions on the telephone

network by k eeping the power to your M FC on when you connect it to a telephone line. Similarly, you can protect yourself when you w ant to move your M FC by disconnecting the telephone line first

and then the power cord.

7 Setting the Date and Time

The M FC displays the date and time, and prints it on every fax you send.

Make sure that you have completed the instructions from Step 1 “Setting Up the Machine” on pages 4 - 11.

Switch off and un plug the MFC from the AC outlet a nd disco nn ect it from your com puter,

if you already connected an interface cable.

Turn on your computer. (For Windows

If the installation does not continue automatically, please open the installer menu again by double-clicking the setup.exe program from the root directory of

the Brother CD-ROM, and continue from Step 4.

After reading and accepting the ScanSoft® License Agreement, enter your user

information and click Next.

Select Typical and click Next.

When the ScanSoft® Registration screen is displayed, make you r selection and follow

the o n-scr ee n instr uction s.

Click Finish to comp le te inst al lat io n.

When the Brother MFL-Pro Suite Installation window appears, click Next.

A Basic Univer sal pri nter driver was installed with the MFL-PRO Software Suite whi ch is certified for use wit h Wi nd ows

operating systems.

Brother also offers a full featured printer driver (Native driver) that inclu des more

features than the Basi c Universal driver. However, this driver does not include a

Wind ows Native driver proceed to step L.

For details on what features are available see chapter 12 of the User's Guide.
