General Power Tool Safety Warnings

WARNING

tions provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all in-

structions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/
or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains­operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cord­less) power tool.

Work area safety

u Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark

areas invite accidents.

u Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres,

such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or
dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust

or fumes.

u Keep children and bystanders away while operating a

power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical safety

u Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify

the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with
earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and

matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.

u Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded sur-

faces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerat­ors. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your

body is earthed or grounded.

u Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.

Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of elec­tric shock.

u Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carry-

ing, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord
away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.

Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric
shock.

u When operating a power tool outdoors, use an exten-

sion cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suit­able for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

u If operating a power tool in a damp location is un-

avoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protec­ted supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric

shock.

Personal safety

u Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common

sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a
power tool while you are tired or under the influence
of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inatten-

u Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye

protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection
used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal in­juries.

u Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in

the off-position before connecting to power source
and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.

Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or en­ergising power tools that have the switch on invites acci­dents.

u Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning

the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a
rotating part of the power tool may result in personal in­jury.

u Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at

all times. This enables better control of the power tool in
unexpected situations.

u Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jew-

ellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving
parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught

in moving parts.

u If devices are provided for the connection of dust ex-

traction and collection facilities, ensure these are con­nected and properly used. Use of dust collection can re-

duce dust-related hazards.

u Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools

allow you to become complacent and ignore tool
safety principles. A careless action can cause severe in-

jury within a fraction of a second.

Power tool use and care

u Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power

tool for your application. The correct power tool will do
the job better and safer at the rate for which it was de­signed.

u Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it

on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled
with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

u Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or re-

move the battery pack, if detachable, from the power
tool before making any adjustments, changing ac­cessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive

safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool
accidentally.

u Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and

do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or
these instructions to operate the power tool. Power

tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

u Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for mis-

alignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of
parts and any other condition that may affect the
power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power
tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by

poorly maintained power tools.

u Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly main-

tained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less
likely to bind and are easier to control.

u Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in

accordance with these instructions, taking into ac­count the working conditions and the work to be per­formed. Use of the power tool for operations different

from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

u Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and

free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping
surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the
tool in unexpected situations.

Battery tool use and care

u Recharge only with the charger specified by the manu-

facturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of bat­tery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another
battery pack.

u Use power tools only with specifically designated bat-

tery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a
risk of injury and fire.

u When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from

other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys,
nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can
make a connection from one terminal to another.

Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns
or a fire.

u Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from

the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally oc­curs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, addi­tionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the bat-

tery may cause irritation or burns.

u Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or

modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit
unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk
of injury.

u Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excess-

ive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above
130°C may cause explosion.

u Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the

battery pack or tool outside the temperature range
specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at

temperatures outside the specified range may damage
the battery and increase the risk of fire.

Service

u Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair

person using only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

u Never service damaged battery packs. Service of bat-

tery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer
or authorized service providers.

Safety information for drills and screwdrivers

Safety instructions for all operations

u Wear ear protectors when impact drilling. Exposure to

noise can cause hearing loss.

u Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces,

when performing an operation where the cutting ac­cessory or fasteners may contact hidden wiring. Cut-

ting accessory or fasteners contacting a "live" wire may
make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and
could give the operator an electric shock.

Safety instructions when using long drill bits

u Never operate at higher speed than the maximum

speed rating of the drill bit. At higher speeds, the bit is
likely to bend if allowed to rotate freely without contact­ing the workpiece, resulting in personal injury.

u Always start drilling at low speed and with the bit tip

in contact with the workpiece. At higher speeds, the bit
is likely to bend if allowed to rotate freely without contact­ing the workpiece, resulting in personal injury.

u Apply pressure only in direct line with the bit and do

not apply excessive pressure.Bits can bend causing
breakage or loss of control, resulting in personal injury.

Additional safety warnings

u Hold the power tool securely. When tightening and

loosening screws be prepared for temporarily high torque
reactions.

u Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with

clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than by
hand.

u Use suitable detectors to determine if there are hid-

den supply lines or contact the local utility company
for assistance. Contact with electric cables can cause

fire and electric shock. Damaging gas lines can lead to ex­plosion. Breaking water pipes causes property damage.

u Always wait until the power tool has come to a com-

plete stop before placing it down. The application tool
can jam and cause you to lose control of the power tool.

u In case of damage and improper use of the battery, va-

pours may be emitted. The battery can set alight or ex­plode. Ensure the area is well ventilated and seek medical

attention should you experience any adverse effects. The
vapours may irritate the respiratory system.

u Do not open the battery. There is a risk of short-circuit-

ing.

u The battery can be damaged by pointed objects such

as nails or screwdrivers or by force applied externally.

An internal short circuit may occur, causing the battery to
burn, smoke, explode or overheat.

u Only use the battery with products from the manufac-

turer. This is the only way in which you can protect the
battery against dangerous overload.

Protect the battery against heat, e.g. against
continuous intense sunlight, fire, dirt, water
and moisture. There is a risk of explosion and

short-circuiting.

u Switch the power tool off immediately if the applica-

tion tool becomes blocked. Be prepared for high
torque reactions which cause kickback. The applica-

tion tool becomes blocked when it becomes jammed in

the workpiece or when the power tool becomes over­loaded.

Please observe the illustrations at the beginning of this oper­ating manual.

Intended use

The power tool is intended for driving and loosening screws
and for drilling in wood, metal, ceramic and plastic. The GSB
is also designed for impact drilling in brick, masonry and
stone.

Assembly

u Remove the battery from the power tool before carry-

ing out work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance,
changing tool, etc.). The battery should also be re­moved for transport and storage. There is risk of injury

from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch.

Charging the Battery

u Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. Only

these chargers are matched to the lithium-ion battery of
your power tool.

Note: The battery is supplied partially charged. To ensure
full battery capacity, fully charge the battery in the charger
before using your power tool for the first time.

The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without
reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging process
does not damage the battery.

The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharge
by the "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". When the battery
is discharged, the power tool is switched off by means of a
protective circuit: The application tool no longer rotates.

u Do not continue to press the On/Off switch after the

power tool has automatically switched off. The battery
can be damaged.

Follow the instructions on correct disposal.

Removing the battery (seefigureA)

To remove the battery (9), press both release buttons (8)
and pull the battery downwards out of the power tool. Do

not use force to do this.

Changing the tool

u Remove the battery from the power tool before carry-

ing out work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance,
changing tool, etc.). The battery should also be re­moved for transport and storage. There is risk of injury

from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch.

Inserting the application tool: GSR 10.8V-35 HX (see
figureC)

Pull the locking sleeve (3) back, guide the application tool
into the tool holder (1) as far as it will go and release the
locking sleeve (3) to lock the application tool.

Please note that the locking interface is optimized for
the most commonly used application tool dimension in
the individual country of use.

Inserting the application tool: GSB 10.8V-35/GSR

10.8V-35 (see figureB)

Open the keyless chuck (2) by turning it in the direction of
rotation ➊ until the tool can be inserted. Insert the tool.

Firmly tighten the keyless chuck (2) by turning it by hand in
the direction of rotation ➋. This will automatically lock the
drill chuck.

The lock will disengage again if you turn the sleeve in the op­posite direction to remove the tool.

Removing the application tool: GSR 10.8V-35 HX

Pull the locking sleeve (3) back and pull the application tool
out of the holder (1).

Dust/Chip Extraction

Dust from materials such as lead-containing coatings, some
wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to one’s
health. Touching or breathing-in the dust can cause allergic
reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or
bystanders.

Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered carci­nogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment ad­ditives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials containing
asbestos may only be worked by specialists.

– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the ma-

terials to be worked.

u Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can

easily ignite.

Operation

Starting Operation

Inserting the battery
Note: The use of batteries unsuitable for your power tool can

lead to malfunctions or damage to the power tool.
Set the rotational direction switch (7) to the middle position

to avoid unintentionally switching it on. Insert the charged
battery (9) into the handle until you feel it engage and it is
flush with the handle.

Setting the rotational direction (see figureD)

The rotational direction switch (7) is used to change the ro­tational direction of the power tool. However, this is not pos­sible while the on/off switch (10) is being pressed.

Right rotation: To drill and to drive in screws, press the ro­tational direction switch (7) through to the left stop.

Left rotation: To loosen and unscrew screws, press the ro­tational direction switch (7) through to the right stop.

Preselecting the Torque

The torque presetting ring (4) can be used to preselect the
required torque in 20 stages. When the correct setting is

used, the application tool will be stopped when the screw is
driven flush into the material or once the set torque has been
reached. In position the overload clutch is deactivated,
e.g. for drilling.

When unscrewing screws, you can select a higher setting or
set the tool to the symbol.

Mechanical gear selection

u Only operate the gear selector (6) when the power

tool is not in use.

You can preselect two speed ranges with the gear selector

(6).
Gear I:

Low speed range; for screwdriving or working with a large
drilling diameter.

Gear II:

High speed range; for working with a small drilling diameter.

Setting the Operating Mode

Drilling

Set the torque presetting ring (4) to the
"drilling" symbol.

GSB

Set the operating mode presetting ring (5) to
the "drilling" symbol.

Screwdriving
GSR

Set the torque presetting ring (4) to the re­quired torque.

GSB

Set the operating mode presetting ring (5) to
the "screwdriving" symbol.
Set the torque presetting ring(4) to the re­quired torque.

Impact drilling (GSB)

Set the operating mode presetting ring (5) to
the "impact drilling" symbol.

Adjusting the Speed/Impact Rate

You can adjust the speed/impact rate of the power tool when
it is on by pressing in the on/off switch (10) to varying ex­tents.

Applying light pressure to the on/off switch (10) results in a
low rotational speed/impact rate. Applying increasing pres­sure to the switch increases the speed/impact rate.

Switching on/off To start the power tool, press and hold the on/off switch

(10).
To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (10).

Fully automatic spindle lock (Auto-Lock)

The drill spindle, and therefore the tool holder(1), are
locked when the on/off switch (10) is not pressed.

This enables screws to be screwed in even when the battery
(9) is empty and allows the power tool to be used as a
screwdriver.

Battery charge-control indicator

When the on/off switch (10) is pressed in halfway or com­pletely, the battery charge-control indicator (11) indicates
the charge condition of the battery for several seconds. The
indicator consists of three green LEDs.

The three LEDs of the battery charge-control indicator (11)
and the lamp (12) flash urgently when the temperature of
the battery falls or rises outside the operating temperature
range of –20 to +50°C.

Slowly flashing light 1 x green ≤ 25%

Temperature-dependent overload protection

In normal conditions of use, the power tool cannot be over­loaded. If there is an extreme overload, the power tool
switches off until the optimal operating temperature range is
reached again.

This status is indicated by the three battery charge indicator
(11) LEDs flashing in a chase sequence. The LEDs turn off if
the power tool has reached the optimum operating temper­ature again.

Practical advice

u Only apply the power tool to the screw/nut when the

tool is switched off. Rotating tool inserts can slip off.

After working at a low speed for an extended period, you
should operate the power tool at the maximum speed for ap­proximately three minutes without load to cool it down.

When drilling into metal, only use sharpened HSS drills (HSS
= high-speed steel) which are in perfect condition. The
Bosch accessory range guarantees appropriate quality.

Before screwing larger, longer screws into hard materials, it
is advisable to pre-drill a pilot hole with the core diameter of
the thread to approx. 2/3 of the screw length.

Belt clip (see figure E)

You can use the belt clip (16) to hang the power tool on a
belt, for example. You then have both hands free and the
power tool is always within easy reach.

Bit holder (see figure F)

You can place screwdriver bits in the bit holder (17) for stor­age.

Colour clip (see figure G)

The colour clip (18) can only be used if the belt clip (16) or
bit holder are not fitted.

the power tool and the ventilation slots clean.

The contained lithium-ion batteries are subject to the Dan­gerous Goods Legislation requirements. The batteries are
suitable for road-transport by the user without further re­strictions.

When shipping by third parties (e.g.: by air transport or for­warding agency), special requirements on packaging and la­belling must be observed. For preparation of the item being
shipped, consulting an expert for hazardous material is re­quired.

Dispatch battery packs only when the housing is undam­aged. Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up the bat­tery in such a manner that it cannot move around in the
packaging. Please also observe the possibility of more de­tailed national regulations.

Disposal

Power tools, rechargeable batteries, accessor­ies and packaging should be sorted for environ­mental-friendly recycling.

Do not dispose of power tools and batteries/re­chargeable batteries into household waste!

조립

u 전동공구에 각종 작업(보수 정비 및 액세서리 교

환 등)을 하거나 전동공구를 운반하거나 보관할
경우 배터리를 전동공구에서 빼십시오. 실수로

전원 스위치가 작동하게 되면 상해를 입을 위험
이 있습니다.

배터리 충전하기

u 기술자료에 기재되어 있는 충전기만 사용하십시

오. 귀하의 전동공구에 사용된 리튬이온 배터리
에 맞춰진 충전기들입니다.

지침: 배터리는 일부 충전되어 공급됩니다. 배터리
의 성능을 완전하게 보장하기 위해서는 처음 사용하
기 전에 배터리를 충전기에 완전히 충전하십시오.

리튬이온 배터리는 항상 충전할 수 있으며, 이로 인
해 수명이 단축되지 않습니다. 충전을 하다 중간에
중지해도 배터리가 손상되지 않습니다.

리튬 이온 배터리는 “Electronic Cell Protection
(ECP)” (전자 셀 보호) 기능이 있어 과도하게 방전

잠금 슬리브 (3) 를 뒤로 당기고 비트를 툴 홀더 (1)
안으로 끝까지 밀어 넣습니다. 비트를 고정하려면
잠금 슬리브 (3) 를 다시 놓으면 됩니다.

잠금 장치는 해당 국가에서 비트의 너비가 가장 넓
은 치수에 맞춰져 있음에 유의하십시오.

분진 및 톱밥 추출장치

납 성분을 포함한 페인트나 몇몇 나무 종류, 또는 광
물 성분 그리고 철과 같은 재료의 분진은 건강을 해
칠 수 있습니다. 이 분진을 만지거나 호흡할 경우,
사용자나 주변 사람들은 알레르기 반응이나 호흡기
장애를 일으킬 수 있습니다.

떡갈나무나 너도밤나무와 같은 특정한 분진은 암을
유발시키며, 특히 목재 처리용으로 사용되는 부가
원료(크로마트, 목재 보호제)와 혼합되면 암을 유발
시키게 됩니다. 석면 성분을 포함한 재료는 오직 전
문가가 작업을 해야 합니다.

– 작업장의 통풍이 잘 되도록 하십시오.
– 필터등급 P2에 해당되는 호흡 마스크를 사용하

십시오.

작업용 재료에 관해 국가가 지정한 규정을 고려하십
시오.

기계 시동

배터리 장착하기
지침: 전동공구에 적합하지 않은 배터리를 사용하면

전동공구에 기능 장애가 생겨 기기가 손상될 수 있
습니다.

회전방향 선택 스위치 (7) 를 중앙에 위치시키면,
의도치 않게 전원이 켜지는 것을 방지할 수 있습니
다. 충전된 배터리 (9) 를 손잡이 안에 넣고 제대로
걸리는 느낌이 들 때까지 정확하게 장착합니다.

회전방향 설정하기(그림 D 참조)

회전방향 선택 스위치 (7) 를 이용해 전동공구의 회
전방향을 변경할 수 있습니다. 전원 스위치 (10) 가
눌린 상태에서는 변경할 수 없습니다.

우회전: 드릴 작업 및 볼트를 돌려 끼우려면 회전방
향 선택 스위치 (7) 를 좌측 끝까지 누르십시오.

좌회전: 볼트를 풀거나 돌려 빼려면 회전방향 선택
스위치 (7) 를 우측 끝까지 미십시오.

토크 설정하기

토크 설정 링 (4) 을 이용하여 필요한 토크를 20단
계에서 사전에 선택할 수 있습니다. 올바르게 설정
하면, 나사못이 작업물과 평면이 되게 끼워지거나
설정된 토크에 이르게 되면 드릴 비트가 자동으로
정지합니다. 위치에서 과부하 클러치는 비활성
화됩니다(예: 드릴 작업).

나사를 돌려 빼낼 때 필요에 따라 더 높게 설정되도
록 선택하거나 기호로 설정하십시오.

기계식 기어 선택

u 전동공구가 정지된 상태에서만 기어 선택 스위치

속도/타격률 조절하기

전원이 켜진 전동공구의 속도/타격률은 전원 스위
치 (10) 를 움직이는 정도에 따라 자유롭게 조절할
수 있습니다.

전원 스위치 (10) 쪽으로 약간만 밀면 낮은 속도/타
격률이 설정됩니다. 좀 더 세게 누르면 속도/타격률
이 증가합니다.

전원 스위치 작동

전동공구를 작동하려면 전원 스위치 (10) 를 누르
고 누른 상태를 유지하십시오.

전동공구의 스위치를 끄려면 전원 스위치 (10) 에
서 손을 떼면 됩니다.

전자동 스핀들 잠금장치(Auto-Lock)

전원 스위치 (10) 를 누르지 않은 상태에서는 드릴
스핀들과 툴 홀더 (1) 가 잠겨 있습니다.

이로 인해 방전 상태의 배터리 (9) 로 나사못을 조
이는 것과 전동공구를 스크류 드라이버로 사용하는
것이 가능합니다.

배터리 충전상태 표시기

배터리 충전상태 표시기 (11) 는 전원 스위치 (10)
를 몇 초 동안 절반 또는 끝까지 누르면 배터리 충전
상태를 보여주며, 3개의 녹색 LED로 구성되어 있습
니다.

배터리 충전상태 표시기 (11) 및 램프 (12) 의 3개
LED는 배터리 온도가 작동 온도 범위 –20 ~ +50
°C 사이를 벗어나는 경우에 빠르게 깜박입니다.

LED 용량

연속등 3 x 녹색 ≥76%
연속등 2 x 녹색 51–75%
연속등 1 x 녹색 26–50%
느린 깜박등 1 x 녹색 ≤25%

온도에 따른 과부하 방지 기능

규정에 맞게 사용할 때 전동공구의 과부하를 방지할
수 있습니다. 과도한 부하가 발생한 경우, 전동공구
가 다시 최적의 작동 온도 영역에 이를 때까지 전동
공구 작동을 차단합니다.

이러한 상태는 배터리 충전상태 표시기 (11) 의 세
개의 LED 작동 램프를 통해 표시됩니다. LED는 전
동공구가 다시 최적의 작동 온도에 도달하면 꺼집니
다.

사용 방법

u 전동공구의 스위치가 꺼진 상태에서만 볼트/너트

에 대십시오. 회전하는 드릴 비트가 미끄러질 수
있습니다.

낮은 회전속도로 장시간 작업한 후에는 냉각을 위해
전동공구를 약 3분간 최대 회전속도로 공회전시키
십시오.

금속에 드릴 작업을 할 경우에는 항상 하자가 없는
날카로운 HSS 드릴 비트(HSS  =  하이 스피드 스
틸)만 사용하십시오. Bosch 액세서리 제품군은 이
에 상응하는 품질을 보증합니다.

경질 작업 소재에 크고 긴 스크류를 끼우기 전에, 나
사산의 중심 직경으로 스크류 길이의 약 2/3 에 해
당하는 깊이로 초기 드릴 작업을 하는 것이 좋습니

벨트 고정클립 (16) 으로 이 전동공구를 벨트에 매
달아 놓을 수 있습니다. 그러면 두 손을 자유로이 사

비트 홀더 (17) 에 스크류 드라이버 비트를 보관하
기 위한 용도로 끼워둘 수 있습니다.

컬러 클립 (18) 은 벨트 고정클립 (16) 또는 비트 홀
더 가 조립되지 않은 경우에만 사용할 수 있습니다.
