Common Rail technology

The third-generation, electronically controlled
common rail system generates injection
pressure of up to 1,800 bar. So fuel injection

is even more precise and finely measured,

thus reducing consumption as well as
exhaust emission levels, while boosting
engine power.

Lightweight construction

Our engineers use aluminium where lighter
materials are more expedient, for instance in
the front section or for the suspension. The
six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, for instance,
is composed of aluminium and magnesium,
making these engines the lightest in their
class. The weight savings lead to lower fuel
consumption and better axle load distribution,
for more agility, especially in bends.

Tyres with reduced rolling-resistance

While driving, tyres are constantly changing
shape. This uses up energy and thus fuel.
Tyres with reduced rolling-resistance have an
improved design and use special materials for
their road treads and side walls, therefore
reducing deformation.

Air vent control*

Engine management signals the engine’s
current cooling capacity requirements
constantly while driving, rendering a
permanent airstream through the radiator
unnecessary. The air vents in front of the
radiator open or close depending on the
environmental temperature and road speed.
When shut they improve aerodynamics,
shorten the engine’s warm-up time and so
reduce fuel consumption.

Valvetronic

Valve lift control is fully variable in petrol engines
with Valvetronic. The result is improved cold
start behaviour and smoother running, as well

as a significant drop in fuel consumption.

package as standard, boosting dynamics even further while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption and CO

unique character. A further seven metallic colour choices impressively emphasise its exceptional refinement. Its 18-inch light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke
design 280 give the vehicle unique flair; and the Xenon Headlights with their instantly recognisable light rings and headlight washing system are elegantly
integrated into the front. This Edition also features a rain sensor and a lights package – the finishing touches for a stylish masterpiece.

beautifully-finished Nevada leather
upholstery (shown here in Oyster) is a
pleasure to look at and to touch. Fine-wood
trim in Walnut, light and a leather steering

Modern and dynamic – the Lifestyle Edition
brings energy to the street. Choose from among

seven exciting metallic paint finishes, including

Space Grey shown here. The roof railing in
Black matt (shown here) is optionally available.

The Lifestyle Edition features light-alloy wheels
in 17-inch V-spoke design 279. And the
chrome tailpipe covers leave no doubt about this
Edition’s sporty nature.

Interior trim in Space Grey metallic finish and chrome buttons on the radio give a distinctive,
modern feel. The optional sports seats for driver and front passenger ensure a sporty and
comfortable driving experience.

The Limited Sports Edition lures you into adventure. Paintwork in Carbon Black metallic is complemented harmoniously by 19-inch light-alloy wheels

in Y-spoke design with a Kamacite Grey, matt finish. Tailpipe finishers in aluminium, matt are an eye-catching feature at the rear, while the front end
is defined by attractive Xenon headlamps with Adaptive Headlights. Accents such as headlight frames and a bumper insert in Kamacite Grey at the
rear, or vertical kidney grille slats and air intake grilles at the front in Titanium colour, add an extra dash of excitement. The M Aerodynamics package
underlines the commanding presence of the BMW X3, reinforced by the BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line trim. Sports suspension further
accentuates the dynamic nature of the drive while a third braking light in white completes the exterior picture.
