Hot Water Kettle with Heat Maintenance Function KH1134
1. Intended Use
This device is intended for heating water for household use. It is not intended for use with other liquids or for commercial use.
2. Technical Data
Voltage : 220 - 240 V ~ / 50 Hz Power consumption :2500 - 3000 W
In older electrical installations, the
building fuse (12A) may be triggered due to the high power consumption.

4. Safety Instructions
To avoid the risk of fatalities from
electric shocks:
• Make certain that the base with
the electrical connections never comes into contact with water! Let the base become completely dry before using if it has accidentally become wet.
• Only use the hot water kettle with
the supplied base .
• Make sure that the power cord never becomes wet or damp during operation. Lay the cord such that it cannot be pinched or otherwise damaged. Should the power cord or the power plug ever become damaged, have them replaced by customer service before continuing to use the device.
• Always pull the plug out of the power socket after use. Switching off the device is not sufficient because the device receives power as long as the power plug is connected to the socket.
To prevent the risk of fire or injury:
• Always heat water with a closed lid , otherwise the automatic cut-out mechanism doesn’t work. Boiling water can then spray out over the edge.
• Hot steam clouds may be released. The kettle is also very hot during operation. Wear oven mits.
• Make certain that the device rests firmly and vertically before switching it on. Boiling water can cause an unstabile kettle to fall over.

• Never leave a heat-generating device unattended! Never let children or frail persons operate the device unsupervised because they may not always properly appreciate the possible dangers.
5. Starting Up the Device
• Before starting up the device, make certain that ...
– the device, plug and power cable
are in good working order and...
– all packaging materials have been
removed from the device.
• Fill the device with water up to the MAX mark and let it come to a full boil once – as described in the next section. Pour out this water.
6. Boiling Water
Danger! Never place the electrical
base near water – life-threatening danger!
You should only heat as much water as you need directly. That helps you save electricity, water and time:
• Lift away the kettle for filling!
• Open the lid by pressing down on the unlocking button .
• Hold the kettle vertically while
filling. Only then will the level indicator on the side correctly indicate the water volume. Fill the kettle ...
– at least to the MIN mark so that the
device does not overheat,
– no higher than the MAX mark so that
no boiling water spills out.
• First close the lid ...
• then place the kettle on the base until it sits straight on the base .
• Set the desired water temperature using the temperature control . To bring the water to a boil, you must set the temperature controller to the MAX position.
• Now insert the power plug into the power socket ...
• and press the ON/OFF switch down until it snaps in.
• The operating light indicates that the device is now heating up.

Temperature regulator in the boiling range:
• The devices switches off automatically
and the operating light goes out as soon as the water is at a full boil. The ON/OFF switch springs out.
In order to keep the water warm after bringing it to a boil, set the temperature regulator in the keep warm range. Press the ON/OFF switch down, until it snaps in.
Temperature regulator in the keep warm range:
The left end of the keep warm range indicates the lower temperature. The right end of the keep warm range indicates the higher temperature. (The water does not start boiling in the keep warm range!).
• After reaching the desired temperature, the appliance switches off the heating process. The ON/OFF switch and the operating lights remain switched on.
Because the device is equipped with
a heat maintenance function, the device automatically begins reheating as soon as the water temperature falls below the set temperature. The appliance heats until the desired temperature is reached. Make sure that the appliance does not automatically switch on to the keep warm function. Therefore, do not leave the appliance unsupervised!
• As soon as the kettle is lifted from the base , the ON/OFF switch jumps out and the operating lights switch off.
• In order to halt the heating process,
push the ON/OFF switch up again. The operating light goes out then as well.
Avoid setting the temperature
regulator in the transition range, as the water can start boiling on account of varying filling levels.
Warning!: Pull the power plug from
the socket before lifting the kettle from the base . This prevents any water splashing out from contacting the electrical connections in the base, which could cause a short circuit. For safety reasons, the lid should not be opened while the water is boiling or is very hot. Otherwise there is a risk of injury.
7. Cleaning and Care
Danger!: Do not open any part of
the housing. There are no operating elements inside. An open housing can create the risk of a life-threatening electrical shock.
Never submerse any parts of the device in water or other liquids! This can create the risk of a life-threatening electrical shock if residual liquid comes into contact with powered components.
