Notes on the Plug
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to t in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not t fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not t, contact a qualied electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
Notes on the Cord
A short power-supply cord (or detached power-supply cord) is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cord are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a long detachable power-supply cords or extension cord is used:
(1) The marked electrical rating of the extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance;
(2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension
cord should be a grounded-type 3-wire cord;
(3) The extension cord should be arranged so that it will

Before Using for the First Time
Before making your rst pot of coffee, we recommend operating the coffee maker once or twice with water only, without coffee grounds to remove any
possible dust.
BREWING COFFEE Making Coffee Immediately
1. Open the water reservoir lid and ll the water reservoir with the correct
amount of water as indicated on the water gauge. Do not overll beyond the MAX line.
2. Ensure that the lter and lter basket is properly in place.
3. Add coffee grounds into the lter. Usually a cup of cof fee needs a level
spoon of coffee grounds, but you may adjust according to your tastes.
4. Gently shake the lter basket to distribute the coffee evenly.
5. Close water reservoir lid and place the carafe on the warming plate.
6. Plug the power cord into a standard 120 volt AC electrical outlet
and press the ON/OFF Button once; the “ON” indicator light will be illuminated (blue). The appliance will begin working.
Note: You can take out the carafe, pour and serve at any time.
The appliance will stop dripping automatically, but the time cannot exceed 30 seconds.
7. Do not open water reservoir lid when the coffee maker is operating.
The ow back of hot water will damage the appliance.
8. You can take out carafe, pour and serve when brewing is nished
(about one minute later after the coffee stops dripping out.)
Note: The coffee you get will be less than the water you have put in,
as some water is absorbed by coffee grounds. As safety is concerned, be sure to cover the lid of carafe when pouring.
9. To keep the coffee warm, return the carafe to the warming plate after
pouring the coffee. The coffee can be kept warm for up to 2 hours. After 2 hours the appliance (and carafe warming plate) will turn off automatically.
10. Press the ON/OFF button t wice to turn off the appliance; the “ON”
indicator light will be extinguished. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet when the appliance is not in use, left unattended, or when the carafe is empty.
Automatic Start Function
Use this function if you do not want the coffee maker to start operation immediately. For example if it is 5:10 PM, and you want the coffee maker to automatically start at 8:15 PM, rst follow steps 1 to 5 of above section, and then you can set the automatic start function as follows:
1. Press “ON/OFF” twice, the “AUTO” indicator will be illuminated BLUE.
2. Press “PROG” button, the “LCD” will display “CLOCK”. Set the current
6
time by pressing the “HOUR” and “MIN”. (Figure 2)

the “AM” and “PM” will appear.
3. Press “PROG” button, the “LCD” will display
“TIMER”, then set the automatic start time by pressing the “HOUR” and “MIN”. (gure 3)
4. At 8:15 PM the “AUTO” indicator will be
extinguished, and the “ON” indicator will be illuminated. The appliance will start automatically. After brewing, you can replace the carafe on warming plate.

Brewing a Second Pot of Coffee
To brew another pot of coffee, set the ON/OFF Button to the “OFF” position and wait ten minutes for the heating element to cool. Remove and dispose of the used coffee grounds; then rinse the carafe and lter basket with water and repeat the brewing procedure detailed in the “BREWING COFFEE” section.
NOTE: If you do not allow the appliance to cool completely before reuse, water in the water reservoir may overheat, causing steam to be released. This could result in burns and/or other personal injury.
Hints for Great-Tasting Coffee
1. A clean coffee maker is essential for making great-tasting coffee.
Regularly clean the coffee maker as specied in the “Cleaning and Maintenence” section. Always use fresh, cold water in the coffee maker.
2. Store unused coffee grounds in a cool, dry place. After opening a
package of coffee grounds, reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
3. For an optimum coffee taste, buy whole coffee beans and nely grind
them just before brewing.
4. Do not reuse coffee grounds since this will greatly reduce the cof fee
avor. Reheating coffee is not recommended as coffee is at its peak avor immediately after brewing.
5. Clean the coffee maker when over-extraction causes oiliness. Small oil
droplets on the surface of brewed, black cof fee are due to the extraction of oil from the coffee grounds.
6. Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily roasted cof fees are used.
