Important! Your barbecook® PUUUR® has an extremely simple lighting system. Starter fluid or firelighters should in no case be used. Always follow the instructions for use. Do not light the barbecue unless the clips of the QuickStart® tube (p.2: #10) are closed. Check before each use that the clips are properly closed.
INSTRUCTIONS
A) Regulating the fire: The fire intensity can be regulated simply by opening or closing the air supply (p.2: #11). Opening the air supply is indicated by two vertical lines to the right of the air supply. Closing the air supply is indicated by one vertical line to the left of the air supply.
B) Use of the reflector (p.2: #1): NOTE! The reflector becomes very hot, and should therefore always be used with the glove provided (p.2: #17). When lighting the barbecue always leave the reflector in the folded position. The reflector combines the advantages and functionality of a lid with the healthy ventilation of open grilling.
The reflector enables indirect cooking of food. In combination with the direct heat from the charcoal, this opens up a wide range of cooking options. For optimal use of the reflector, we advise you to close the air supply (left) and to place the cooking grid in its highest position. For suggestions and recipes, visit http://www.barbecook.com
C) Lighting (p. 4): Remove the ground grid (p.2: #4). Take three double sheets of newspaper and scrumple them up separately in the form of a torch. Insert these sheets of newspaper in the QuickStart
®
tube (p.2: #10). Put the ground grid back in place and spread dry charcoal on top of the ground grid (do not use too much charcoal when lighting the barbecue). Open the air supply (p.2: #11) (right). Open the port (p.2: #14) on the rear side of the barbecue and light the newspaper through the ventilation openings in the QuickStart® tube with a long match or lighter. The burning paper will light the charcoal. The smoke you see is produced by the humidity of the charcoal and the newspaper, and will disappear almost completely after a few minutes. After about 15 minutes your barbecook® PUUUR® is ready for use (the glowing charcoal will then be covered with a fine layer of grey ashes). We advise to wait to install the cooking grid (p.2: #3) on the barbecue until it is ready for use. The reflector should only be folded out during cooking.
6 www.barbecook.com/puuur
D) Maintenance (p. 4): After use, allow the barbecue to cool down, remove the ground grid, close the
air supply and brush the ashes towards
± 5 cm
the middle of the bowl so that they end up in the ash tray (p.2: #12). Then release the ash tray to pour out the ashes.
E) Moving the barbecue:
To move the barbecue, proceed as follows: place one hand in the recess of the port (p.2: #14) on the rear side of the barbecue, and the other hand on the top side of the barbecue. Slightly tilt the barbecue forwards. Make sure you do not tilt it too far. To prevent damage, we advise you not to tilt the rear side more than 5 cm from the ground. Always move the barbecue by pulling it backwards, i.e. do not push forwards. Two adjusting feet (p.2: #16) are provided on the back at the bottom of the barbecue. These can be turned further in or out, allowing the barbecue to be used on uneven ground whilst keeping a level and stable surface.
FIRST TIME USE
Prior to lighting the barbecue, carefully remove the protective foil from the inner housing (p.2: #6). When using your
®
barbecook
PUUUR® for the first time, we strongly recommend to have it burn for 30 minutes without cooking meals. This burn-in period is necessary.
USEFUL HINTS AND PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
1) Do not use indoors.
2) Always install the barbecue on a
solid base, away from inflammable and meltable objects.
3) It is recommended to empty out the
ash tray after each use.
4) Do not use too much charcoal in
the bowl (max. 50% of the bowl capacity).
5) Do not use alcohol or petrol for
lighting or stoking up the fire. Use only firelighters that conform to standard EN 1860-3!
6) NOTE! This barbecue will become
very hot, do not move it until the fire has extinguished completely and the barbecue cooled down completely.
7) WARNING! Keep children and pets
at a safe distance from the barbecue. Protect yourself against the fire. Never leave the barbecue unattended.
8) For safety reasons, we advise to
keep a bucket of water or sand in the neighbourhood of the burning barbecue.
9) Never grill in the flames. Do not
start grilling before the charcoal is covered with a fine layer of ashes.

For fatty food, we recommend to use a grill pan.
10) Always use dry and purified charcoal that conforms to NBN M 11001 or EN 1860-2.
11) Special precautionary measures apply for the ceramic bowl. The guarantee does not cover you against failure to take the following into account:
• Donotpourcoldliquidsintothe
hot bowl.
• Avoid any contact with sharp
and/or hard objects.
GUARANTEE
Your barbecook
®
PUUUR® comes with a two year guarantee against all manufacturing defects. This guarantee applies from the date of purchase, provided it is used in accordance with these instructions. Your till receipt specifying the date of purchase is your certificate of guarantee. This barbecook® PUUUR® is not suitable for commercial use. Wear, corrosion, deformation and discoloration of parts that are directly exposed to the fire is quite normal and will therefore in no event be considered as a production flaw: it is the logical result of their use. Hence, the ground grid can be strongly deformed after some time and it is normal to have this part replaced.
Storage
To get many years of service out of your barbecue, it is recommended to protect it with a barbecook
®
PUUUR®
cover. The chromed cooking grid
should be cleaned after each use and stored indoors in a dry area.

Important!
8 www.barbecook.com/puuur
