Howtosettherootpassword

ToaccesstheAxisproduct,youmustsetthepasswordforthedefaultadministratoruserroot.ThisisdoneintheCongureRoot Passworddialog,whichopenswhentheproductisaccessedforthersttime.

Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage40.

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeHowtoresettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage52.

TosetthepasswordviaastandardHTTPconnection,enteritdirectlyinthedialog.

TosetthepasswordviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,followthesesteps:

1.ClickUseHTTPS.

Atemporarycerticate(validforoneyear)iscreated,enablingencryptionofalltrafctoandfromtheproduct,andthe passwordcannowbesetsecurely.

2.Enterapasswordandthenre-enterittoconrmthespelling.

3.ClickOK.Thepasswordhasnowbeencongured.

SetPowerLineFrequency

PowerlinefrequencyissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedfromPlainCong(seepage52) orbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault.

Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause imageickeriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.

Whenusing50Hz,themaximumframerateislimitedto25fps.

Powerlinefrequencyvariesdependingongeographicregion.TheAmericasusuallyuse60Hz,whereasmostotherpartsof theworlduse50Hz.Localvariationscouldapply.Alwayscheckwiththelocalauthorities.

PTZMode

PTZmodeissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault.

DigitalPTZisthedefaultmodeandshouldbeusedwhenapan/tiltmotorisnotused.

Congurecapturemode

Thecapturemodesettingreducesimageickerinuorescentlightenvironments.Selectthecapturemodewiththepowerline frequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproductandclickOK.

Whenusing50Hz,themaximumframerateislimitedto25fps.

Theproduct’sheateriscontrolledbytheambienttemperatureandisturnedonandoffautomatically. Ifrequired,theheatercanbeactivatedmanuallybyclickingtheHeaterbutton.Toshowthebutton, gotoSetup>LiveViewCong.UnderActionButtons,selectShowheaterbuttonandspecifythe numberofminutestheheatershouldbeactivated.

H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.

Thisunicastmethodcanbeusedtotraverse rewalls.Firewallsarecommonlyconguredto allowtheHTTPprotocol,thusallowingRTPto betunneled.

Thismethod(RTPoverUDP)shouldbeusedforlivemulticastvideo.Thevideostreamisalways up-to-date,evenifsomeframesaredropped. Multicastingprovidesthemostefcientusageofbandwidthwhentherearelargenumbersof clientsviewingsimultaneously.Amulticastcannothowever ,passanetworkrouterunlessthe routerisconguredtoallowthis.ItisnotpossibletomulticastovertheInternet,forexample. Notealsothatallmulticastviewerscountasoneunicastviewerinthemaximumtotalof20 simultaneousconnections.

Unicastingisusedforvideo-on-demand transmissionsothatthereisnovideotrafc onthenetworkuntilaclientconnectsand requeststhestream. Notethatthereareamaximumof20 simultaneousunicastconnections.

ThisformatusesstandardJPEGstillimagesforthevideostream.Theseimagesarethendisplayedandupdatedataratesufcient tocreateastreamthatshowsconstantlyupdatedmotion.

Formostscenes,theAutomaticoptionwillprovidethebestresults.Theshutterspeedisautomaticallysettoproduceoptimum imagequality .Fluorescentlampsorotherlightsourcescansometimescauseickeringintheimage.Toreduceickerintheimage, selecttheFlickeroptionthatmatchesthepowerlinefrequency. TheHoldcurrentoptionlocksthecurrentexposuresettings.

Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’,standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.

EnableBacklightcompensation-Enablethisoptionifabrightspotoflight,suchasalightbulb,causesotherareasintheimage toappeartoodark.

Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto settingcanbeused. YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata. Shutter&Gain

Theshutterandgainsettingsaffecttheamountofmotionblurandnoiseintheimage.Toadapttodifferentlighting,available storagespaceandbandwidth,itisoftennecessarytoprioritizeeitherlowmotionblurorlownoise.TheAxisproductallowsdifferent prioritizationinnormallightandinlowlight.

Shutterspeedisrelatedtotheamountoftimetheshutterisopenedandismeasuredinseconds(s).Aslowshutterspeedallows morelighttoreachthesensorandcanhelpproduceabrighterimageinlowlightsituations.Ontheotherhand,aslowshutter speedcancausemovingobjectstoappearblurry.

SetShutterto:

•Autotosettheshutterspeedautomatically.Ifrequired,useMaxshuttertolimittheshutterspeedtopreventtheframe ratefrombeingreduced.

Forexample,toget30fps,setMaxshutterto1/30.

•Fixedtouseaxedshutterspeed.

Gain,measuredindecibel(dB),istheamountofamplicationappliedtotheimage.Ahighgainmayprovideabetterimageinlow lightsituationsbutwillincreasetheamountofimagenoise.

SetGainto:

•Autotosetthegainautomatically.Ifrequired,useMaxgaintolimittheappliedgain.

•Fixedtouseaxedgain.

Example Ifstoragespaceorbandwidthislimited,tryusingalowergain.Thiswillreduceimagenoiseandproducesmallerimageles.

Day/Night

TheIRcutlterpreventsinfrared(IR)lightfromreachingtheimagesensor.Inpoorlightingconditions,forexampleatnight,orwhen usinganexternalIRlamp,settheIRcutltertoOff.Thisincreaseslightsensitivityandallowstheproductto“see”infraredlight.The imageisshowninblackandwhitewhentheIRcutlterisoff.

IfusingautomaticExposurecontrol,settheIRcutltertoAutotoautomaticallyswitchbetweenOnandOffaccordingtothe lightingconditions.

TheDay/Nightshiftlevelbarhelpsdeterminewhenthecamerawillshiftfromdaymodetonightmode.Normally,thecamera automaticallychangesmodefromdaytonightwhenverydark(level100intheslider).BysettingDay/Nightshiftleveltoa lowervalue,thecamerawillchangetonightmodeearlier.

Firmwareissoftwarethatdeterminesthefunctionalityofnetworkdevices.Oneofyourrstactionswhentroubleshootingaproblem shouldbetocheckthecurrentrmwareversion.Thelatestversionmaycontainacorrectionthatxesyourparticularproblem.The currentrmwareversionintheAxisproductisdisplayedinthepageSetup>BasicSetupandinSetup>About.

•Preconguredandcustomizedsettingsaresavedwhenthermwareisupgraded(providingthefeaturesareavailableinthe

newrmware)althoughthisisnotguaranteedbyAxisCommunicationsAB.

•Aftertheupgradeprocesshascompleted,theproductrestartsautomatically.Ifyourestarttheproductmanuallyafter

theupgrade,wait10minutesevenifyoususpectthattheupgradehasfailed.

•WhenyouupgradetheAxisproductwiththelatestrmware,theproductreceivesthelatestfunctionalityavailable.Always

6.GotoSetup>BasicSetuptoverifythermwareupgrade.

EmergencyRecoveryProcedure
