presents requ ireme nts a nd instructions for ins talling the alarm sys tem on an Infinet
network. This document refers you to additional Andover Controls Installation
Guides where appropriate.

Introduction
•The Andover Controls Proprietary Alarm System consists of two major
components:
Central Supervisory Station

transmitting the status of these alarms over a supervised signaling bus to the

Central Supervisory Station

received constantly monitors this station. This station consists of three main

the alarm occurred, the type of alarm, and when and by whom the alarm was
acknowledged.

Programming
•Only individuals with the appropriate Andover Controls certifications shall
program the Andover Controls Systems.
•Programming of all alarm status changes must meet all of the following criteria:
— Print on alarm
— Print on acknowledgment of alarm
— Print on return to normal
— Beep on alarm
— Beep on return to normal
•The maximum alarm delay must be less than 60 seconds (< 60 seconds).

Table 1 shows how the alarm priority levels must be set.

Hardware Installation
Table 2 identifies the Andover Controls products listed in the UL Proprietary
Burglar Alarm Systems category, their role in the listing, and the part numbers
for their detailed installation/programmers guides.
•Locate the equipment in a secure indoor location on the property being
protected.
•Maintain the ambient temperature at 55°- 95° F.
•Supply the HVAC equipment controlling the ambient with a twenty-four hour
standby power source.
•Indicate the loss of AC power by an audible and visual signal.

Equipment Requirements
Table 3 lists Central Supervisory Station equipment. Because a redundant Central Supervisory Station is required, you must duplicate all the equipment. Your
Central Supervisory Station equipment must consist of two each of the items
listed.

Hardware Installation
Power Requirements
•The power service and all wiring must comply with the
Code

—The computer (Item 1) and the printer (Item 5) must plug into the surge
suppression strip.
—Each surge suppressor (Item 6) requires a standard 120Vac, 15 A, 60 Hz,
grounded receptacle.

Power Requirements
•All Premise Control Units must be powered from a UL Li sted Burglar Alarm Power
Supply (APHV) or a Power Supply UL Listed for Fire Alarm Use (UTRZ) capable
of providing four hours of standby power.
•The power supply must also provide a dry contact closure for AC power failure
indication.
•This output must be wired to a supervisory input and must s ignal a status change to
the Central Supervisory Station. This signal must be programmed for the
“supervisory service” level.

Installation—Premise Control Units
•All Premise Control Units must be installed with cabinet tamper switches.
•Leads from all supervisory input circuits, keypads and card reader circuits shall
consist of conductors insulated from and surrounded by a shielding conductive
surface grounded at one end. The maximum loop impedance is 100 ohms.
•All supervisory inputs must be located in the same room or area as the Premise
Control Unit and must use the end of line resistors provided for the Premise Control
Unit (Andover Controls part number 01-0010-666).
