Alcatel-Lucent Ethernet Compact Media Adapters-XP (CMA-XPs) deliver high performance Carrier Ethernet
for residential and business services, mobile core and backhaul applications, and enterprise applications and
services. Ethernet CMA-XP supports ITU-T Synchronous Ethernet, comprehensive Ethernet OAM, and a broad
range of advanced Ethernet and IP/MPLS services.
Alcatel-Lucent Ethernet CMA-XPs
are Ethernet interface adapter cards
available in 1-port Gigabit Ethernet and
5-port Gigabit Ethernet configurations.
Compliant with IEEE 802.3 and ITU-T
Synchronous Ethernet standards,
Ethernet CMA-XPs are ideal for
Ethernet applications and services,
including residential triple play service
delivery, mobile core and backhaul
aggregation, L2/L3 business VPN
services, and traditional IPv4/IPv6
routing applications.
Ethernet CMA-XPs support a wide
range of pluggable SFP optics,
enabling a high degree of configuration
flexibility and service optimization.
Up to eight Ethernet CMA-XPs can be
supported on the 7750 SR-c12 and
7710 SR-c12 platforms. Up to four
Ethernet CMA-XPs can be supported
on the 7750 SR-c4 and 7710 SR-c4.
Ethernet CMA-XPs offer comprehensive
Ethernet OAM capabilities, support
in-service insertion and removal, and
are fully managed by the Alcatel-Lucent
5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM).
Features and benefits
• Highly flexible port- and chassis-level
configuration options. Ethernet
CMAs can be intermixed with a wide
range of Ethernet CMA-XPs and
other CMA types, including Ethernet,
Circuit Emulation Service (CES),
DS/E1, DS3/E3, SONET/SDH, and
ATM. CMAs can also be intermixed
with 7750 SR Media Dependent
Adapter (MDA) interface cards for
highly cost-effective and flexible
service delivery
• Support for ITU-T compliant Synchronous Ethernet (Sync-E) for distribution
of precision network timing and
synchronization over Carrier Ethernet.
Using Sync-E, operators can reliably
deliver time-sensitive applications
directly over native Ethernet
• Support for a wide range of pluggable
optics (SFP) with Digital Diagnostic
Monitoring (DDM) for extended OAM
support and improved installation,
activation, and troubleshooting
capabilities
• Comprehensive 802.3ah-based
Ethernet service OAM capabilities
to speed service deployment and
simplify operations, maintenance,
and troubleshooting
• Support for ITU-T Y.1731 performance
management and IEEE 802.1ag
Connectivity Fault Management
• Support for Hierarchical VPLS and
Provider Backbone Bridging VPLS
(802.1ah PBB) for extended Ethernet
subscriber and network scalability
• Line-rate ACL filtering with configurable ingress/egress access control
lists for highly enhanced subscriber
management, security, and control
