The Alcatel-Lucent Channelized DS1/E1 Compact Media Adapter (CMA) provides low-speed, legacy service
aggregation capability onto a unified, multi-service IP/MPLS network. Supporting dense channelized DS1/E1 access
and a feature-rich set of service and operational capabilities, the DS1/E1 CMA provides a modular and flexible
solution for enterprise and vertical network applications, mobile backhaul, and fixed-line service providers
with smaller site connectivity needs.
The Alcatel-Lucent Channelized DS1/E1
CMA hardware supports up to eight DS1
or E1 physical ports. Each port can be
individually configured to work in DS1
or E1 operational mode. Each port
supports n x 64 kb/s channel groups,
with adjacent and non-adjacent
channel support in a channel group.
Up to 64 channel groups, which
support a variety of encapsulations
including FR and PPP, can be configured on each DS1/E1 CMA. Multilink
PPP is also supported for n x DS1/n x E1
configurations.
Alcatel-Lucent Channelized DS1/E1
CMAs are suppor ted on the
Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR-c12, 7750 SR-c4,
and Alcatel-Lucent 7710 SR platforms,
support in-service insertion and
removal, and are fully managed by the
Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware
Manager (SAM).
Features and benefits
• Operates in full channel DS1/E1 mode
or channelized n x 64 DS1/E1 mode
• Frame relay and PPP encapsulation
• Multi-link PPP with link fragmentation
and inter leaving (LFI)
• Binary eight zero substitution (B8ZS)
zero suppression for DS1 ports
• High-density bipolar order 3 encoding
(HDB3) zero suppression for E1 ports
• DS1 superframe (SF) and extended
superframe (ESF) framing
• E1 G.704 framing with or without
cyclic redundancy check 4 (CRC-4)
multiframing
• Unstructured E1 g.703 framing
• Alarm indications:
¬ AIS (blue alarm)
¬ LOS, OOF/LOF (red alarm)
¬ RAI (yellow alarm)
• Line loopback (receive signal looped
to transmit signal)
• Equipment loopback (transmit signal
looped to receive signal)
• Bit error rate tests (BERT)
• Near-end and far-end statistics
(based on RFC 2495)
• RJ -4 8c por t connectors, which
provide 100-ohm termination
