Installation Instructions: Auxiliary Cable – EZ-Guide 500
This document describes how to connect an external device to receive NMEA messages from the Auxiliary port
on the EZ-Guide 500.
1. Locate cable 4001968 (TNL 62609).
2. Remove the 12-pin DUETSCH dust cap from the P2 (gray) connection on cable p/n 4001968 (TNL 62609).
3. Hold connector with rear grommet facing you and remove the plastic inserts from cavity’s 5, 6, and 7.

4. Remove the orange wedge lock with needle nose pliers as shown below.
5. Locate cable p/n 4001444 (TNL 63076)
6. Insert the Yellow wire of cable p/n 4001444 (TNL p/n 63076) into cavity 5.
7. Insert the Violet wire of cable p/n 4001444 (TNL p/n 63076) into cavity 6.
8. Insert the Green wire of cable p/n 4001444 (TNL p/n 63076) into cavity 7.

9. Push contact straight into connector grommet until a click is felt. A slight tug will confirm that contact is properly locked
in place.
10. Once all contacts are in place, reinsert the orange wedgelock. The wedgelock will snap into place.
11. Insert the modified connector into the P2 connection of cable p/n 4001968 (TNL 62609).
12. Connection the P1 connection of cable p/n 4001968 (TNL 62609) to the 19-pin round AUX connector on the back of
the EZ-Guide 500
13. Connect the external device to the 9-pin serial connector on cable p/n 4001444 (TNL 63076)
NOTE: The P3 (Green DUETSCH) and the USB connections are not used at this time.

Setting up your EZ-Guide 500 system to output NMEA messages to an external device.
1. From the Run screen, select the “Wrench” button and press OK.
2. Select “System” and press OK.
3. Select “GPS” and press OK.
4. Select “NMEA Output” and press OK.
5. Select “NMEA output port” and press OK.
6. Select “AUX” and press OK.
7. Set port parameters as required by your connected external device and select “Continue”
8. Turn on the required NMEA strings and select “Continue”
9. Select the required number of decimal places and press OK.
10. Press F3 (lower left button) to return to the “Run” Screen.
11. Wait for a valid GPS signal and verify your external device is receiving NMEA messages.
