INTRODUCTION

Yekaterinburg (Russian: Екатеринбург, also romanized into Ekaterinburg) has 1,4 million inhabitants and is the fourth largest city in Russia. It is located in the central part of Russia, close to the Ural mountains. It’s an old city, founded in 1723, known to many as the place where the the last Russian Tsar was killed after the Russian revolution. Like this whole region it has very severe winters with temperatures down to -50°C and even thought summers are generally very nice it has a yearly average low of -1°C. You will understands getting the snow coverage right was important for this project.
As far as we know its airport was never covered in some detail for FS and we are glad to be able to extend our coverage of Russia with this great airport. This first release is for FS2004, an FSX version will follow soon and it will be a free download for people who bought this FS2004 version.

INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL

Installation is simple. Unzip the file that you downloaded and start the exe file you downloaded and follow the instructions on your screen. Make sure FSX (or FS2004) is closed and we do advise you to reboot your system before installing. Make sure you are logged on as Administrator on the machine! After installing it can help to defragment your hard disk (but do not do so if you have installed it on a SSD). Do note that the files are personalized on installation. When you share them with others you also share personal details.
After installation of the FSX version has finished the Aerosoft Launcher will start and it will be installed (or updated). See Appendix A for a detailed explanation. Removal should never be done manually but only using the software removal applet you will find the Windows Control panel.

FINDING THE AIRPORT

You will find the airport using either the airport name KOLTSOVO, the ICAO code USSS or the city name Yekaterinburg, Russia.

CHARTS

We have added the most current charts for this airport to this manual as Appendix A. Of course the charts in this manual should never be used for real aviation!

FSX SETTINGS

There are no settings in FSX that are critical for this scenery, the only setting that is almost obligatory is the Scenery Complexity set to Extremely Dense to make sure you see all objects.

SEASONS

FSX is unfortunately not very good with seasonal textures. That is why we use a SEASON tool to allow you to select seasons. If you do this before you start FSX you will see the correct seasonal textures. Here is how we advise the seasons to be used
April 1st - May 15th Spring
May 16th - August 31st Summer
September 1st - September 30th Fall
October 1st - October 31th Spring
November 1st – March 31 th Winter
The Spring textures in October seem strange but they are really the most realistic!
