Introduction
Thank you for buying the scenery Islands of Malta for FS2004. The Islands have been visited to ensure the most realistic reproduction as possible.
When visiting Malta for the first time in November 2005 despite some rain, I came to the conclusion that these islands were so beautiful that I wanted more people to able to discover them. Even if it is only virtually, start you visit here and maybe it will lead to a real visit to Malta.
The islands are very small and we had to make a decision on what to concentrate on. What did we want to show in this scenery? Of course it was neccessary to have the city of Valetta and the Airport. Another must was the Heliport of Gozo, the citadell of Victoria and Mdina with the Roman villa. These in combination with some other landmarks was what we saw as an important representation of the islands.
I also want to dedicate this scenery to the Maltese people and their wonderfull islands.
Happy Landings on Malta. Cornel Grigoriu

Performance
To achieve a framerate as high as possible within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, please note the following: Your maximum visibility should be 10-20 miles (see weather settings). This accelerates the framerate and it is more realistic.
If the framerate is still too low, you can also switch off the ground scenery cast shadows in the settings display. You can even turn down the scenery complexity from dense to normal and to very sparse to accelerate the simulator some more. This may result in some scenery elements not appearing on the screen.
The reason it has been done is because most PC systems will be able to achieve an optimum speed. I do recommend you to use this function. If you upgrade to a faster processor you can change the scenery complexity accordingly. We recomend to have the autogen setting to Normal since it in our opinion looks moore natural on these islands and offcourse allso it will help with the performace.
The AI traffic is recomended with a settings to betwin 0-50%.

The Maltese Islands are situated in the centre of the Mediterranean – 93 km south of Italy and 290 km north of North Africa and consist of seven Islands, of which only Malta and Gozo are inhabited. Comino lies between its two inhabited neighbours, has a four-star hotel and some agricultural activities, including a pig breeding farm.
The minor islands, such as Cominett and St. Paul’s Islands, are mainly of recreational interest although Filfla is a natural reserve and Manoel Island, which lies next to the Valetta harbour has a yacht marina.
The official language is Maltese. The language has Semitic origins and Romance influences, while the English language stands as the second official language. The climate is typically Mediterranean. The religion is predominantly Roman Catholic. The population is 380.000 inhabitants.
The main-island is called Malta. Valletta is the capital of Malta. It was built by the Knights of St John of Jerusalem after the great siege of 1565. It is 27 kms long and 14,5 kms wide.
This ancient city Mdina/Rabat, the first capital of Malta,” The Silent City”, stands on elevated ground in the western region of Malta.

One of the constant factors in human occupation of Malta is the scarcity of fresh water. Malta lacks a river and, until recently, it obtained its drinking water from storing winter rainfalls in cisterns. Rooftop cisterns are still common on the islands today, although Malta now has a modern de-salinization plant.
Some history
The oldest megaliths in the world are located on the islands of Malta and Gozo.
The first settlers arrived on Malta and Gozo around 5000 B.C.E. from Sicily.
Throughout the years the islands have been vastly influenced by the cultures of the Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Swabians, Spanish, the Knights of St. John, the French and the British, who all left their mark on the general characteristics of the population.
The Knights of the Order of St. John governed Malta between (1530-
1798). The work of the Knights had made Valletta‘s Grand Harbour one of the most extensively fortified ports in Europe. The island‘s central location in the Mediterranean made it an essential naval base for both sail and steam ships.
Malta was British between 1814-1964. During World War II, Malta was the target of German and Italian bomb raids. The island endured the heaviest conventional bombardment of the entire war. To honor the valor of the Maltese people, King George VI awarded the George Cross to the „Island Fortress of Malta“ in 1942. The cross today appears on the Maltese flag.
In these times Malta is a parliamentary democracy. Malta voted to join the European Union in 2003.
The currency is Maltese Lira (ML).
