INTRODUCTION
The Red Sea: one of the most fascinating underwater experiences in the world and a
top holiday destination for sunbathers and vacationists. Located at the southern tip
of the Sinai Peninsula, Sharm El-Sheikh (“bay of the Sheikh”) is one of the most
popular tourism centers at the shores of the Red Sea. Featuring huge coral gardens
and deep reef walls down to 2,600ft, the diving spots around Sharm El-Sheikh are
well-known among scuba divers around the globe.
Only 20 years ago, Sharm El-Sheikh was a mere fishing village, its airport used by
military only. The airport was built in 1968, after the Six-Day War, by the Israeli Air
Force, but was handed back to Egypt after both countries signed the Camp David
Accords. It was only in the mid-nineties when tourism began to have a major impact
in the area and dozens of luxury hotels rose in the vicinity of the airport. Within two
decades tourist numbers grew from a handful to several million per year. The airport
had to be extended, and in 2007 the new terminal 1 opened, featuring a distinctive
architecture that mixes modern technology with forms and materials of the
indigenous Bedouin culture. Together with the old terminal 2, which has been
modernized in 2004, a total annual number of 7.5 million passengers can be
handled.
Shortly after the inauguration of the new terminal, plans of further expansion were
presented, an enhancement that would add a third runway and terminal north of the
current airport area and extend the annual passenger capacity to more than 15
million. The expansion should have been completed by now according to original
plans, but with the difficult situation in Egypt today, it remains unsure if those plans
will be realized at all.

INSTALLATION
To install this add-on simply run the downloaded setup and follow the instructions on
the screen. On successful completion of the installation process you should find a
new area in your FSX scenery library (FSDG – Sharm El-Sheikh 2012) or, in case of
FS9, 2 new areas, which should automatically be in the correct order:
“FSDG – Sharm El-Sheikh 2012” and “FSDG – Sharm El-Sheikh 2012 – LC”
Do not disable or change the order of these areas as this would affect the airport
scenery.
To uninstall this add-on use the Windows control panel.

FS9 SETTINGS
FS9 usually offers very good framerates and performance on today's PC generation.
Our testers and users report that they had no troubles running FS9 with maximum
graphic and scenery settings. We advise you to try this first. If you experience bad
framerates or stutters, reduce the air traffic settings, the autogen or set the scenery
slider to “dense” or “normal”.
FSX SETTINGS
In order to change your scenery settings, go to Settings -> Display
Note that these settings will influence the quality of the scenery. The higher the
settings the more details will be visible. But keep in mind that framerate and overall
performance might decrease depending on your PC system.
We suggest trying these settings to get the best visual results in FSX:

If you use an AI traffic add-on like MyTraffic or Ultimate Traffic you will have realistic
air traffic at Sharm El-Sheikh airport. To achieve the most realistic experience you
should set the airline density and general aviation density to 50-70%.
SCENERY SHADOWS
We advise you not to enable scenery shadows on this airport. Scenery shadows cost
a lot of performance and are limited to a generic, rather artificial shadow model in
FS9 as well as FSX.
Using the latest rendering technologies, we implemented realistic shadows directly in
the objects textures. This not only gives a better visual experience than the FS
scenery shadows, it also cuts the number of calculations of the graphics card in half.
You can still enable scenery shadows in the graphics settings of course, but we want
to encourage you not to use this option.

F.A.Q.
Q: Is this add-on DX10 compatible? (FSX)
A: Like most scenery add-ons, Sharm El-Sheikh 2012 cannot be used with the FSX
DX10-preview mode.
Q: Is this add-on compatible with other add-ons like UTX or FS Global?
A: There should be no problem with any other add-on.
Q: AI aircraft vanish after landing, get stuck before take-off or turn around on the
runway. How can I fix this?
A: This is default behavior (mainly FSX) that cannot be fixed by the scenery. We
included some tricks though that should prevent AI aircraft from using wrong
taxiways and turning on the runway.
Q: The scenery library is not updated automatically on installation of the add-on.
How can I fix this?
A: If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7 you are strongly advised to start the
setup as administrator (right-click in Win 7 and “run as administrator”) and
disable the User Account Control. Reinstall the add-on to make sure the setup
added the area(s) to the scenery library in FS9/FSX.
