Systemvoraussetzungen
Um die Szenerie „Roma-Ciampino X“ möglichst störungsfrei fliegen zu
können, benötigen Sie:
• Microsoft Windows 7 / 8 / 10
• Microsoft Flight Simulator X mit Service Pack 2 oder Acceleration oder Microsoft Flight Simulator X Steam Edition oder
Lockheed Martin Prepar3D V3 oder V4
• Dual Core Prozessor mit 3 GHz
• ca. 4,9 GB freien Festplattenspeicher
• 4 GB RAM (8 GB empfohlen)
• 3D-Grafikkarte mit 1GB
Installation
Sie müssen als Systemadministrator angemeldet sein, bevor Sie mit der
Installation von „Roma-Ciampino X“ beginnen können.
Um die Installation zu beginnen, starten Sie einfach die DownloadDatei. Nach der Sprachauswahl erscheinen zunächst einige Informationen und die Lizenzbedingungen. Lesen Sie sich die Informationen bitte
sorgfältig durch und klicken Sie dann auf „Weiter“. Anschließend
werden Sie zur Eingabe Ihrer E-Mail Adresse und des Produkt-Keys
aufgefordert. Bitte geben Sie diese Daten genauso ein, wie sie in der
Bestätigungsmail unseres Online-Shops zu lesen sind.
Danach wird das Installationsverzeichnis (Verzeichnis des Microsoft
Flugsimulators) automatisch gesucht und überprüft. Sollte die Installationsroutine das Microsoft Flugsimulator Verzeichnis nicht finden oder
Sie ein anderes Verzeichnis auswählen wollen, so können Sie dieses
über den „Durchsuchen”-Button festlegen.
Die Installationsroutine kopiert nun im Einzelnen die Daten der
Szenerie „Roma-Ciampino X” in das Zielverzeichnis und meldet die
Szenerie in der Szeneriebibliothek an.
Deinstallation
Um die Szenerie zu deinstallieren, klicken Sie bitte auf die Windows
Start-Schaltfläche. Klicken Sie dann auf „Systemsteuerung“ und
schließlich auf „Software“ oder „Programme und Funktionen“. Sie
sehen nun eine Auflistung aller installierten Programme. Wählen Sie
das Programm, das Sie deinstallieren möchten und folgen Sie den
Anweisungen.
Allgemeine Informationen
Während des Ersten Weltkriegs 1916 hat die italienische Regierung
einen Militärlandeplatz mit einer Carabinieri-Station gebaut und sie
nach Giovan Battista Pastine benannt, einem italienischen Luftschiffpilot. Die Gegend wurde für den Bau ausgewählt, da sie keine starken
Winde und ideale Bedingungen für den Flug von Luftschiffen aufwies.
Im Jahr 1923 begann Umberto Nobile den Bau des Luftschiffs Norge in
Ciampino, dass sich auf eine Reise zum Nordpol begab.
Ab 1924 hat die von Mussolini gegründete Regia Aeronautica den
Flughafen in einen Luftschiff-Platz und eine Flugzeug-Bahn eingeteilt
1928 wurde der Luftschiffplatz abgebaut und die gesamte Fläche vor
allem für Flugzeuge genutzt.
Ciampino wurde zum ersten Flughafen für Rom erkoren und sowohl
für militärische und Regierungszwecke, als auch für Zivilluftfahrt
genutzt.
Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs diente Ciampino als Basis für
Bomberstaffeln. Nach dem Krieg im Jahr 1950 wurde das Gelände zu
einer Landebahn zusammengefasst und als Militärbasis sowie Flughafen für Staatschefs genutzt.
Nachdem der neue Flughafen Fiumicino 1961 eröffnet wurde, hat
Ciampino einen Großteil seines Verkehrs verloren und wurde fortan
nur mehr zu militärischen Zwecken genutzt.

2001 wurde Ciampino im Zuge des neuen Niedrigpreisgeschäfts
erneuert und konnte sein Verkehrsaufkommen ohne größere Änderungen an der Infrastruktur steigern.
Heute dient er als Basis für Regierungsflüge, Bevölkerungsschutz, der
italienischen Luftwaffe und Niedrigpreisanbieter wie Ryanair und Wizzair.
2015 fertigte der Flughafen Ciampino mehr als 5.800.000 Passagiere ab.

Einstellungstool
Ein grafisches Einstellungstool ermöglicht die Optimierung einiger
Parameter, um sie an die Ausstattung jedes PCs anpassen zu können.
Sie können dieses Tool über das Windows-Startmenü oder aus dem
Szenerieordner heraus aufrufen.
Mithilfe des Einstellungstools können Sie die verschiedenen Optionen
einstellen, indem Sie den jeweiligen Regler auf OFF – MED – HIGH stellen.
OFF bedeutet, dass die Elemente nicht angezeigt werden (sinnvoll auf
leistungsschwachen PCs, um mehr FPS zu erzielen).
MED bedeutet, dass einige Elemente angezeigt werden (sinnvoll auf
etwas stärkeren PCs)
HIGH bedeutet, dass die Elemente mit höchster Dichte angezeigt
werden (nur auf sehr leistungsstarken PCs auswählen).
Im Einstellungstool können Sie folgende Elemente anpassen:
• Flughafen-Gras
• Vorfeldfahrzeuge
• Parkende Autos
Sie können auch die statischen Flugzeuge am Flughafen aktivieren
oder deaktiveren (der Regler hat zwei Optionen: OFF und HIGH).
Empfehlungen
Roma-Ciampino X nutzt eigens erstellte Terrainmeshes, daher müssen Sie
die Meshauflösung auf 10m/px oder höher stellen, damit die Flughafenszenerie gut dargestellt wird. Wenn Sie die Auflösung auf einen anderen
Wert stellen, kann es zu Problemen der Terraindarstellung kommen.
Die Texturen in dieser Szenerie sind mit 2048x2048px aufgelöst, daher
müssen Sie die Texturauflösung im Simulator auf 2048 stellen.
Die Bodentexturen wurden so angelegt, dass sie zum Farbspektrum
der Orbx FTX Global World-Texturen passen.

Diese Szenerie bildet die Startregion rund um den Flughafen (einschließlichb der Stadtteile nahe am Flughafen) mit Autogen-Technik
nach. Dabei wurden über 5000 Autogen-Objekte platziert. Dies kann
auf nicht-High-End-PCs zu FPS-Einbrüchen führen. In diesem Fall
empfehlen wir, die Autogen-Dichte zu reduzieren, um höhere FPS und
eine flüssigere Simulationserfahrung zu erreichen.

Wenn Sie Prepar3D V3 (oder neuer) nutzen, können Sie Frank, unseren
Piloten, als Avatar benutzen (siehe die P3D-Dokumentation für
Informationen zu Avataren). Wenn Sie ein Flugzeug auswählen,
können Sie den Avatar mitladen lassen. Frank kann mit jedem
Flugzeug geladen werden. Er kann still stehen, gehen, rennen, in die
Hocke gehen, gehockt gehen, wieder aufstehen, springen, schwimmen und fallen; all dies über die normale P3D-Steuerung. Um den
Avatar erscheinen zu lassen, nutzen Sie den Befehl [Umsch]+[Strg]+[E]
in einer Außenansicht eines Flugzeugs oder Fahrzeugs. Sie können den
Avatar dann nutzen, um die Szenerie zu erkunden.

Minimum System Requirements
To fully enjoy the scenery “Roma-Ciampino X“ we recommend the
following:
• Microsoft Windows 7 / 8 / 10
• Microsoft Flight Simulator X with Service Pack 2 or
Prepar3D V3 or V4
• 3 GHz Dual Core Processor
• 2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)
• 3D Graphics Card with at least 1024 MB (2 GB recommended)
Installation
You have to be logged in with administrator rights before you start the
installation of “Roma-Ciampino X“.
To start the installation of “Roma-Ciampino X” simply insert the DVD
into your DVD drive or run the file you downloaded from your shop
account.
After you have chosen your preferred installation language, the
welcome screen appears and you will be presented with some important
information and the license agreement. Please read it carefully.
You will be asked to insert your email address and your registration
key. Please insert it exactly the way it was written on the label or in the
confirmation mail you received from your download shop. Please keep
your registration key on a safe place, you will need it again if a new
installation will be necessary.
The installation program will attempt to locate the correct path. If you
wish to install to another location, then you will have to enter the
correct path for installation manually. In order to do this, click on
“Browse“ and navigate to the correct path.
The installation program will now copy all of the “Roma-Ciampino X”
files onto your hard disk. If you want to make any changes or to install
any updates for this program you will need the DVD or the installation
file from the download shop and your registration key again.
Removing
In order to fully remove “Roma-Ciampino X” run the Aerosoft-Launcher.
Change to the “Library“ and select “Roma-Ciampino X” in the “Scenery“ category. The information about “Roma-Ciampino X” will appear.
Click on the „Uninstall“ button. The installation program will start to
remove the program from your hard disk.

General information
In 1916 during the First World War, the Italian government build a military
strip together with a Carabinieri station and giving it the name of Giovan
Battista Pastine, an Italian dirigible pilot. It was built in this area for the
lack of strong winds and the right condition to fly airships and dirigibles.
In 1923 Umberto Nobile started to built the Norge airship in Ciampino
that departed for the endeavour to the North Pole.
From 1924 the Italian Regia Aeronautica created by Mussolini divided
the airport into an airship field and an aircraft strip.
In 1928 the airships field was dismantled and all the airport area was
used mainly for aircraft.
Ciampino became the first airport for Rome and was used for military
and government purposes and even civil transportation.
During the Second World War, Ciampino was used as the base for
bombers. After the war in 1950 they merged on a single runway and
used it as military base and airport for state leaders.
After the building of the new Fiumicino airport in 1961, Ciampino lost
most traffic and was only used for military purposes.
In 2001 with the new low-cost business, Ciampino renewed and

raised the volume traffic without a major change of infrastructure.
Today it is the base for Italian government flights, civil protection,
Italian air force and low-cost carrier such as Ryanair and Wizzair.
In the 2015 Ciampino Airport served more than 5,800,000 passengers.

These are the main features of Roma-Ciampino X scenery:

• Animated windsock variation reflecting the wind (SODE)
• Night textures developed using ambient occlusion modelling
• Night lights effects using SODE
• Unaligned left PAPI lights on RWY 33 (as real ones) made using
SODE
• 3D approach lights using SODE
• Configuration program to set the 3D object density
• Seasonal variations
Settings tools
A graphical settings tool utility was developed to allow optimization of
some parameters so as to fit to the specifications of each user’s PC.
You can access these tools via the windows start menu link or inside
the scenery folder.
Using the settings tool the user can configure the selected parameters
by moving the slider to OFF – MED –FULL position, respectively.
OFF means that the items will not be displayed in the sim (useful on
low performance PCs to get more FPS).
MED means that the items will be partially displayed in the sim (useful
on medium performance PCs).
HIGH means that the items will be displayed at maximum density in
the sim (select only on high end PCs).
The settings tool can adjust the following items:
• Airport Grass
• Apron Vehicles
• External parking cars
You can also activate or deactivate the static aircraft at the airport
using the tool (the slider has 2 position OFF – HIGH).
Recommendations
Roma-Ciampino X uses custom made terrain meshes, so you need to set
the mesh resolution to 10m/px to better visualize the airport scenery. If you
set the mesh resolution to another scale you may get some terrain errors.
The textures used in this scenery are 2048x2048, so you need to set
the texture resolution to 2048 in your sim settings.
The ground textures colours were made to match the colour gamut of
FTX ORBX GLOBAL World textures.

This scenery reproduces the urban area around the airport (including
some town near the airport) with autogen techniques. We’ve placed
more than 5000 autogen objects. It can be FPS intensive on a non
high end PC. We suggest you reduce the autogen density on sim
settings to get better FPS and a smooth simulation experience.

If you are using Prepar3D V3 (or later) you will be able to use Frank,
our pilot, as the avatar (see the P3D documentation about information
on avatars). When selecting an aircraft you can also select the avatar
to be loaded. You can load Frank with any aircraft. He is able to stand
idle, walk, run, stand to crouch, walk while crouching, crouch to
stand, jump, swim and fall, all using the default P3D commands. To
spawn the avatar go to any external view of an aircraft or vehicle and
use the [Shift]-[Ctrl]-[E] command. You can then use the avatar to
explore the scenery.
