1 Safety instructions
Your safety is of paramount importance, please ensure you read these warnings before installing or using the appliance. If you are unsure about any of the meanings of these warnings, contact the Customer Care Department.
General safety
• Repairs to the washing machine should only be carried out by qualified personnel. Repairs carried out by inexperienced persons may cause injury or serious malfunctioning. Contact your local AEG Service Force Center.
• Never operate the washing machine if the mains cable is damaged or the control panel, work top or base area are damaged allowing internal components to be accessible.
• Switch off the appliance and isolate from the mains supply before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance work!
• Do not use the mains cable to pull the plug out of the socket.
• Do not spray the washing machine with water.
• During high temperature wash programs, the glass of the door may become hot. Do not touch!
• Allow the water to cool down before cleaning the drain pump or carrying out emergency emptying.
• Small animals can nibble at mains cables and water hoses causing electric shock hazard.
Installation
• Please follow the separate “Installation and connection instructions“ supplied with the appliance.
• Installation must comply with local water authority and building regulations requirements.
• Before using the appliance for the first time, we recommend you run a cotton wash cycle at 95 °C without any laundry and half the recommended amount of detergent. This is to remove any residues from the drum, which may have been left during manufacture.

Safety instructions
Child Safety
This appliance is designed to be operated by adults. Children should not be allowed to tamper with the controls or play with the appliance.
Pets and children have been known to climb into washing machines. Please check the drum before use.
Keep all packaging well away from children.
Keep all detergents in a safe place out of children´s reach.
When disposing of the appliance, cut off the mains cable, and destroy
the plug. Disable the door catch to prevent young children being trapped inside.
During Use
Always unplug the appliance and turn off the water supply after use.
Only use the washing machine to wash normal domestic washing. If
the washing machine is used for any other purpose or is incorrectly used, the manufacturer adopts no liability for any damages which may result.
It is dangerous to alter the specifications or attempt to modify this product in any way.
Only use detergents which are suitable for automatic washing machines, and follow the recommendations of the detergent manufacturer.
Garments which have been in contact with flammable solvents should not be washed.
Do not use your washing machine for dry cleaning.
Dyes and bleaching agents may only be used if specifically permitted
by the manufacturer of these products. We cannot be held liable for any damages.

2 Disposal
Packaging
Dispose of the packaging material correctly. All packaging materials are environmentally friendly and can be disposed of without any danger to the environment.
The external plastic covering and bags inside are made of polyethylene (marking >PE<).
The padding is made of CFC free expanded polystyrene (marking >PS<).
Washing machine
When disposing of the washing machine:
Cut off the mains cable and destroy the plug
Disable the door catch to prevent young children
becoming trapped inside.
Use an authorised disposal site.
2 Environmental tips
To save water and energy and help to protect the environment, we recommend that you follow these tips:
Do not use a prewash for normally soiled washing.
It is more economical to wash full loads.
When washing small loads reduce the detergent by half to two thirds.
Pre-treat stains, and then wash at a lower temperature.
Use the energy saving program when washing light to normally soiled
garments.

Button SOAKING, in order to separately soak washing with
dried on dirt.
Energy saving program for light to normal soilage.
Maximum Spin speed 1000 revolutions per minute.
Speed for the final spin can be reduced to 600 revolutions per
minute.
Rinse hold can be added: the washing remains in the final rinse water, it is not spun.
Automatic load recognition with fuzzy logic: sensor controlled washing process with variable number of rinse cycles, water quantity dependent on foam and load, controlled spin etc, ensuring best washing and rinsing results with the most economical water consumption.
3-chamber detergent compartment for washing powder and fabric softener: stain remover in prewash chamber
ÖKO lock: The Öko lock ensures effective detergent usage. The Öko valve closes off the wash tub from the drainage system during all wash programmes.
Scoop ribs in the washing machine drum: ensure washing is wet fast and equally.
Anti-unbalance control system: for stability and smooth running.

Programme Selector Knob
Turn the programme knob in a clockwise direction until the marker coincides with the required programme. If you turn the selector knob too far, do not attempt to turn the control knob anticlockwise, instead continue turning clockwise until the desired programme has been selected. To start the programme, pull the knob outwards and the pilot light will illuminate. At the end of the programme push the knob inwards and the pilot light will go out.

STAIN
For treating very dirty or stained washing using stain remover (extended main wash with stain remover phase, not selectable for woollens setting).
Description of the appliance
MAIN WASH
Main-wash cycle for normal soilage (wash – rinse/soft-rinse – spin)
QUICK WASH
Shortened main-wash cycle for lightly soiled washing.
RINSE
Separate rinse, e.g. for rinsing hand-washed fabrics (spin according to the selected washing cycle).
CONDITIONER
Conditioner rinse (or starching): Liquid conditioner or starch is added from the À compartment during the rinse.
SPIN
Spin after RINSE HOLD, or separate spin for hand-washed fabrics.
Program group DELICATES
DELICATES
Main wash cycle for delicates (Wash rinse/conditioner – short spin).
SHORT SPIN
Spin after RINSE HOLD or separate gentle spin of hand-washed delicates
Program group WOOL
WOOL
Main wash cycle for wool and sensitive fabrics. (Wash – conditioner – short spin).
GENTLE RINSE
Separate protective rinse, e.g. for rinsing hand-washed fabrics (1 Rinse cycle and subsequent short spin).
SHORT SPIN
Spin after Rinse Hold or separate short spin of hand-washed woollen and sensitive fabrics.
PRE WASH/SOAKING
PRE WASH
Separate PRE WASH (approx. 20 minutes, maximum 40° C) and subsequent pumping out.
After PRE WASH, the main wash cycle must be set as desired, the

program does not continue automatically.
SOAKING
Separate soaking, when PRE WASH/SOAKING is set via program selector and the SOAKING button is pressed.

Description of the appliance
Soaking duration approx. 20 minutes, maximum 40 °C (approx. 15 minutes when EASY-CARES button is additionally pressed). Afterwards the washing remains in the water until the water has been pumped out.
PUMP OUT
Pumping out of water after RINSE HOLD (without spin) or after separate soaking.
Program selector as progress indicator
The program selector serves as a progress indicator by moving clockwise until the end of the program is reached.
Temperature selector
You can set the following temperature steps via temperature selector: Cold, 30, 40, 50, 60, E, 70, 80, 95
Position E (energy-saving program) is suitable for

boiled washing of light to normal soiling; reduced temperature to approx. 67°C.
EASY-CARES button
For easy-care washing. This button is active when using the program selector, a program is selected from the group of COTTONS/LINEN, EASY-CARES (+button) or by separate SOAKING.

SOAKING button
This button is active when PRE WASH/SOAKING is selected.
Final spin speed button
With this button you reduce the spin speed for the final spin process.
RINSE HOLD button
If RINSE HOLD is selected the washing remains in the last rinsing water, it will not be spun.
Indication lamp ON
The indication lamp ON illuminates, as soon as the washing machine is switched on.
